holy shit!
two years ago today, I created this newsletter with the half-baked notion that I might try my hand at writing something longer than a tweet.
I had no expectations of anything. if I had, I might have spent more than 90 seconds coming up with a name for this site.
I figured I might write a couple of things a week for a little while and get tired of it — and then move on to the next shiny object.
here we are, two years later — and wow, we have a real community here.
that is flattering and humbling and … I really didn’t see it coming.
so I want to thank all of the people who signed up to receive the emails — and I especially want to thank all of the people who have become commenters here.
really. I fucking love reading your comments. I love it when you folks banter with each other. you are clearly wittier and more knowledgeable than I — and I love that.
it’s nice to be part of something positive — and not, like so much of the internet, toxic and hateful — and I have all of you folks to thank for that. you have made this place what it is.
without you, I’d just be shouting into the wind — and that gets old fast.
happy second fucking birthday to all of us.
apologies to anyone who came to this page looking for my writeup of Donny's Nazi Shit-Show last night. I really have been needing a day to decompress and 'happy birthday' seemed like a good opportunity.
but that doesn't mean we can't discuss the rally. oh look, the NY Times actually committed a journalism.

Many happy days to come, my brother! You help us all hang in there.
