HFK never met a legitimately-elected democratic government he didn’t want to topple — most famously, in Chile.

in 1970, Henry Fucking Kissinger worked himself into a Big Mad because the people of Chile had elected the socialist Salvador Allende to be their president.

On September 12, 1970, eight days after Allende’s election, Kissinger initiated a discussion on the telephone with CIA Director Richard Helms about a preemptive coup in Chile.

“We will not let Chile go down the drain,” Kissinger declared.

oh my god — self determination. we can’t have that.

“I am with you,” Helms responded.

Three days later, Nixon, in a 15-minute meeting that included Kissinger, ordered the CIA to “make the [Chilean] economy scream,” and named Kissinger as the supervisor of the covert efforts to prevent Allende from being inaugurated.

long story short, the CIA went down to Chile and Allende ended up eating a lot of bullets.

Augusto Pinochet was installed as Chile’s brand new dictator, ushering in an era of repression, torture, disappearances and mass death.

The systematic human rights violations that were committed by the military dictatorship of Chile, under General Augusto Pinochet, included gruesome acts of physical and sexual abuse, as well as psychological damage. From 1973 to 1990, Chilean armed forces, the police and all those aligned with the military junta were involved in institutionalizing fear and terror in Chile.

it took seventeen fucking years for the people of Chile to rid themselves of Pinochet.

HFK even hated democracy in his own country.

“We’ve got to break the back of this generation of Democratic leaders,” Kissinger told Nixon, plotting to use foreign policy for domestic advantage. Nixon agreed: “We’ve got to destroy the confidence of the people in the American establishment.”

truly a Republican ahead of his time.

oh, and have I mentioned that HFK literally bombed children on Christmas Eve?

On Dec. 18, 1972, Richard Nixon initiated a massive “carpet bombing” campaign in Northern Vietnam (mainly Hanoi) that was officially called “Operation Linebacker II” and also became known as the Christmas bombing campaign. It lasted for 11 days.

More than 20,000 tons of explosives were dropped, including on civilians. As seen in the photo, Hanoi’s main hospital (Bach Mai) was hit.

HFK was given a Nobel Peace Prize in 1973 for “helping” to “end” the Vietnam War, which is particularly fucking infuriating because HFK did everything in his power to extend the war for his own political benefit.

“Kissinger materially sabotaged the only chance for an end to the war in 1968 as a hedged bet to ensure he would achieve power in Nixon’s administration or Humphrey’s. A true tally will probably never be known of everyone who died so Kissinger could be national security adviser.”

instead of being tried in The Hague for his crimes, HFK became a celebrity in Washington. the DC power elite sucked up to this guy. everyone wanted this blood-spattered fuck at their dinner party.

so let’s celebrate some of the people who weren’t afraid to call a war criminal a war criminal — sometimes right to his face.

Four years ago, Barbara Walters, who calls Kissinger “the most loyal friend,” was entertaining Kissinger and his wife at a dinner party for a D.C. politician when ABC News anchor Peter Jennings, who died last year, suddenly piped up, “How does it feel to be a war criminal, Henry?”
