let’s check in on America’s Dangly Bit and see how things are going.
oh dear.
I’m sorry, did we thank who?
it seems that Florida is having a bit of a Nazi Summer.
Groups of neo-Nazis and white supremacists spread antisemitic, white supremacist and anti-LGBTQ messages outside of Disney World and in the nearby Orlando area on Saturday, in the latest examples of rising antisemitism in the U.S., officials said.
A group of about 15 people wearing clothing and bearing flags emblazoned with Nazi insignia demonstrated outside the entrance to the Disney Springs shopping center, according to Orange County Sheriff's Office, who said deputies were dispatched to the scene around 10:40 a.m.
this was not an isolated event — Nazis have been rearing their ugly heads in Florida for months now.
earlier in June, Nazis made an appearance outside Disney World and did a little campaigning for Ron DeSantis while they were there.
of course, Nazi dipshits have a constitutional right to be Nazi dipshits. they have a constitutional right to festoon themselves with swastikas and gather in public and spread their message of hate.
but do you know what Nazis don’t have a constitutional right to?
being accepted.
where is the outrage from Florida’s Republican establishment?
where the fuck is inexplicably-unindicted Matt Gaetz? do you think he could take a five-minute break from bragging about his sexual exploits and maybe say something like, oh, I don’t know, “Nazis are bad”?
nope, silence from Matt.
how about Medicare fraudster Rick Scott? nowhere to be found.
hello? is anybody home?
seriously, how hard is it to say “Nazis are bad.”
of course, we know the reason for their silence.
here’s a pro tip, ladies and gentlemen: if you can't denounce Nazis because doing so would anger your base, you're on the wrong fucking side.
we fought an actual war about this, remember?
don’t expect Ron DeSantis to speak out against the Nazi problem in his state, he’s too busy hiding from Joe Biden.
President Joe Biden traveled to Florida on Saturday to survey the devastation from Hurricane Idalia. The president met with GOP Sen. Rick Scott of Florida and other local officials. But one person noticeably absent was Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose office cited the “security preparations” for such a visit that it said would disrupt the recovery effort.
“security precautions,” riiiiight.
you gutless coward. you’re a real class act.
DeSantis, of course, remembers how his own party shunned Chris Christie after he hugged Obama in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Ron is too big a chickenshit to do the right thing and give being a partisan fascist fuck a rest for one day.
so I guess it’s time for another pro tip:
meanwhile, Florida can’t attract teachers but it has no problem attracting Nazis.
trans people are fleeing Florida in fear of their lives, but if you’re a Nazi, Florida rolls out the red carpet.
let me leave you with the “Nazi bar” story, as told in a twitter thread by Michael B. Tager.
I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, “no. get out.”
And the dude next to me says, “hey i’m not doing anything, i’m a paying customer.” and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, “out. now.” and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed
Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, “you didn't see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them.” And i was like, oh ok and he continues.
“you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.”
“And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.”
congratulations, Florida, you’re now a Nazi bar.
Why do the Nazis cover their faces? Could it be that they don't want anyone to know who they are, like their boss or their neighbors? Who are they hiding from?
I wouldn’t live anywhere else than Broward County in South Florida, because my late husband and I founded an environmental organization that uses our own fleet of canoes to accomplish waterway cleanups and after 30 years and hundreds of cleanups and helping volunteers feel like environmental heroes I’m not stopping now. I remember when we had Democrats as Governors, and even some Repubs weren’t too bad. In 2020 I finally overcame all the obstacles to becoming an American citizen (I was born in Canada) and immediately signed up to vote Democrat and vote for Biden. All our younger volunteers are also voting Democrats, so don’t give up on our beautiful state. Maybe the old Northerners who’ve brought their rethuglican beliefs with them will croak soon, or another hurricane will wipe out The Villages.
