Nevertheless Jeff, Trump has withdrawn the names of Joseph Goebbels for the White House Press Office and Hannibal Lecter for Secretary of Agriculture after noting that one is dead and the other is a fictional character. He has also withdrawn “Yosemite Sam” for the Department of the Interior after a discussion with his Deputy Chief of Hate and Fear, Stephen Miller.

Apparently there’s some scheme afoot to call a recess of the Senate so that none of the Trump appointments get approved. I’m so exhausted that I can’t remember the details, but this obscure act allows Trump to put his people in place without approval by the Senate.

Yes. It appears that Democrats have to stay on top of every move that these Cretins make, and then make long term take back plans just like the MAGAs did. Still, I am glad that I heard about HR 9495 and was able to get my congressman to vote NO, and sent info to everyone I knew asking them to do contact him as well, or their own congress person. Here is Public Notice discussing the recess rules in more detail.

I’m placing my bets on Trump just forcing a recess of both houses of Congress if their respective leaders do not do it on their own; & he actually can do that!!

I believe he wants to neuter Congress, humiliate them, make them irrelevant. That is what dictators, authoritarians do. He doesn’t want any of those extremely unqualified appointees to be subjected to live streamed confirmation hearings for the American people to see their behavior, & hear about all the skeletons in their backgrounds.

I can understand the intent of the bill, as I have no doubt that there are NGOs that are serving as a cover for money to be laundered through to finance terrorist orgs. Churches in the U.S. funnel money into political campaigns to get their extreme Evangelicals elected, & that is so wrong, & I definitely would like them to lose their tax exempt status cancelled.

My objection is granting that power to the Secy of the Treasury, especially at this time when Trump is appointing unqualified yes men to all those cabinet positions who will 100% do what they’re told. They don’t need to do anything to grant him more power!!!

He’s going to be seizing power with both hands; don’t help him.

From jacobin.com: The current version — which was introduced by Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY), and cosponsored by Brad Schneider (D-IL), and Dina Titus (D-NV) — is paired with a provision that would provide tax relief to American hostages held by terror groups and other Americans unjustly imprisoned abroad.

Hamadanchy said combining the two provisions was likely a ploy to push the nonprofit-terror bill through with as little opposition as possible.

Expand full comment

So in exchange for giving tax relief for the half-dozen American hostages abroad, we get rid of all of the tax-deductible organizations because the Republicans will say that they are run by terrorist organizations. O. M. G. !!!!! So Israel, re-created b/o the genocide of Jews in Europe, is now committing genocide?! O. M. G. !!!!! I thought the whole "condo" thing was a joke. O. M. G. !!!!! And this makes the Orthodox extremists ecstatic -- exactly why? Is it because of "reclaiming" the land that once (two thousand years ago) was part of inhabited by Jews? The revenge in that is astounding! My husband is Tibetan. Since 1959, their country and its people (including virtually all of the hundreds of thousands of monks and nuns -- along with all but a few of the 6,000 monasteries there since ancient times) have been utterly destroyed by the Chinese. So is it OK that in the year 4025 for the Tibetans to return, kick out the people who have been living there for the past 2,000 years, and kill them if they refuse to leave? Trust me. The Tibetans would never even think of such behavior. There was a prophecy long ago that "when the horse runs on wheels and the iron bird flies, the people of Tibet will be scattered across the face of the earth." Since that prophecy has come to be, the attitude of the Tibetan leaders and the people is, "This has been given to us as the opportunity to teach the Dharma all over the world." Perhaps if the Jews could have taken what happened in Israel/Judaea in the year 64 as as something positive, viewed the diaspora as an opportunity to share the teachings of the Torah throughout the world -- how very different things could be now -- not just in Israel, but across the entire earth. It would mean giving up the view of being "the chosen People", however. That's one of the things Jesus taught: we are ALL "chosen people", chosen by God to do all of the righteous and ethical things which are TAUGHT by the Torah. I am absolutely broken-hearted that the Orthodox Jews believe what they are doing to the Palestinians is moral and just. I am, literally, sick at heart.

What Jesus did teach conflicts with what many evangelicals have heard, which is that THEY and they alone are the chosen people. (If God loves those other people, why are they not prosperous? God shows his approval by your material success, right? Why read the New Testament? Just pay your dues to your televangelists and megachurches. You’ll do very well for yourself.)

This time it's the death of a thousand cuts;

American democracy is about to be stabbed to death slowly and painfully!

Gacy would’ve been a shoo-in in Trump47’s fascist administration as Director of Prisons for Youths, preferably males.

His resume includes: A desire to work in local Democratic politics; Trump is reformed Democrat himself; Both wear clown make-up as a way to distract slack-jawed yokels from their criminal activities; Both are sexual predators.

Apologies for the gallows humor, it’s all I can muster for now; no matter, I will resist the tyrant and his minions whenever and however I can.

Funny story about that. I had a yard sale like 30 years ago and my neighbor asked to bring some of her stuff and we agreed she would cover hers and I would do mine. We took turns looking after the whole thing when breaks were needed. One of hers was a fur toilet seat set that was given to her as a joke bridal shower gift. Who pulls up just when she was leaving to the bathroom but this big pink Cadillac with bull horns attached to where the hood in place of the ornament sits. The husband and wife were excited when they spotted the fur seat set. I nearly died just as they paid me the wife said we’ve been needing a new one because their bathroom had no heat and the husband needed it warm to do his duty. She side whispered this to me. I did everything to not laugh and felt like I was on Candid camera. The husband was dressed like a cowboy with chaps and spurs included. She even gave me a tip and tried to give me her phone number to call her if I ever came across one again. After they drove away they tooted their horn which sounded like a bull call. My neighbor came out as they left laughing her head off. She saw the whole thing from her window but couldn’t stop laughing at the look of the whole thing but she said especially my face. I never had a yard sale again, my neighbor did but I declined to join her.

He’s suffering from dementia, and they will prop him up, a la “Weekend at Bernie’s”. JD will run the government until #47 is too far gone to pretend, then they’ll evict him via 25th amendment, and JD will take over.

I just watched “The Apprentice” movie last night, as if my brain needed more reasons to hate Trump. Even though it’s a movie it reveals some interesting tidbits. Like Rudy being called a fag and trumps lust for big tits, and Ivana (wife 1) telling him he’s orange. I laughed at that one. If you want to stick your head down the rabbit hole a little more, watch it but remove any objects that you might hurl at your TV. I can understand why he didn’t want it released, but here we are with four more years of “The Stupidest President Ever”. I’m scared shitless to look around the corner. We’re all in this together, like it or not.
