Goddammit this was Obama’s moment and he seized it. A genuine “barn-burner” of a speech, and after the ashes have cooked from this terrible time, if there remain any history books or films that illuminate our moment, this will be one of those moments that endure. We all can draw courage from the well he has tapped. Now let’s kick some Nazi ass.

It was a superb speech. Just one thing bothered me: no mention at all of his Project 2025 which is a lot more than “concepts of one”? 900 pages in great detail which some of it is already in action by his “shadow government officials”. As good as it was the problem remains: race and being a woman. Totally disgraceful. This man is the scum of the earth and people are still voting for him because…he’s white. A racist, a bigot and a traitor.

The MSM *must* report the race as close; otherwise, they can't justify their existence. They can't get anyone to click on them or read them. If VP Harris was 10 points ahead of Dumpy in the entire US, thevMSM would have nothing to talk about. So they gin up a neck-and-neck competition.

Dean Obeidallah(sp?) interviewed Don Lemon, formerly of CNN, a few weeks ago for his substack. Lemon said they were forbidden to call out Dumpy's obvious lies and incoherent ramblings. Otherwise it would give VP Harris too much good press.

Would it have been wise for Jews in Germany to vote for Hitler or to not vote for Hitler's political opponents? That is precisely the point. We vote for the greater good. A young woman bleeding out or, more recently, tragically dying from a pregnancy related sepsis is a terrible price for moralistic policy. From what I remember from Biology 101, every male had a female progenitor, called a mother, I believe, whose reproductive apparatus had to function in order to bring that individual into existence (with genetic contribution at minimum from a male). So for some of those males to make policies that endanger and oppress the gender that formed, nurtured, and birthed them is not only ungrateful but downright traitorous.

Some of these idiot males have life partners who possess the aforementioned reproductive apparatus, along with offspring of that gender that they seek to endanger and quite possibly cause the death of.

As a male, I say there is no contest which is the dangerously stupid gender.

Great historical reference. I have known Japanese Americans who were interned during WWII. They are mostly very old or have passed. That shameful action was a violation of their Constitutional rights and was fueled by racism, unreasonable fear, and economic opportunism. It should remain as an example of resisting such discriminatory impulses aimed at any minority group. After 9/11 when there was so much anti-Muslim bias, many J-As spoke out against it because of their own experiences. Right wing hatemongers, of course, like Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter were viciously persecuting the Muslim American community and Malkin even promoted internment once again. Thank goodness she has faded. What a hateful harpy she was. The internment story has been chronicled in books and movies and should be known to all Americans so that we do not cave in to prejudice, never more than now in the age of trumpist fascism.

Expand full comment
HI2thDoc's avatar

Most lost almost everything. They were not given much notice and could take with them only a suitcase. Much was just discarded. Homes, businesses, and farm land were sold for pennies on the dollar. Some farmers entered into agreements with white farmers to lease or temporarily own the land with the understanding that it would revert back to them later but there were instances where the agreements were not honored. There is a book called Stubborn Twig by Laura Kessler chronicling the Yasui family of Hood River, OR. I would recommend it. Min Yasui was an attorney who challenged the constitutionality of the internment.

Right? If Biden called T***p and asked him to knock off the lies so people can get the help they need, you know the whiny little bitch would immediately take to Truth Social and scream in all caps "He's trying to take away my free speech".

Man, these cultists are hurting themselves and for what? 😳 Dump is so evil...I hate him with all my being. Exactly what did Dump do to help anyone during his Presidency? NOT A DAMN THING! And....Obama...what a great man. I need this election to be done, over, and finished so we can start restoring the country and get ready for the next wave of fascism that is bound to come up. #TGIF

At my age, time usually flies by, but waiting for this election seems like forever. My level of anxiety creeps up and backs down every time I read something new. I feel like I’m on a roller coaster, and I hate roller coasters.

I have had low blood pressure all my life. Suddenly, I'm on BP meds. WTF? I'm sure it's from all the angst waiting to see if America will survive.

I think you're right. I never had BP problems unti the spring of 2016. I had several Muslim friends and I as worried for them, as well as just being angry about Dumpy all the time. It's starting to creep back down now, these last few months.

Sharon, me too. Today I unsubscribed from a lot of political blogs (not Jeffʻs of course!!). Do want you can to get out the vote, but otherwise I think itʻs time to disengage from the daily news blasts. Also, there are lots of "fake" polls being taken that are not reliable, so ignore the polls too.

You bet it is. I remember the stink about 15 years ago when Jesse Jackson went to the middle east on his own to try to negotiate for hostages, and you'd think he'd dropped a nuke on somebody or started WWIII. But remember, Dumpy's a Very Special Boy and the rules don't apply to him.

Now I know why the MAGA cultists want a dictator to rule over them. These people are dumb as dirt. They’re too stupid to tie their own shoes. They NEED someone to take care of them, to think for them since they’ve given up all rational thought. You might almost feel sorry for them. Almost. If Trump ruled, when all their freedoms are gone, they won’t even notice. Freedom...schmeedom! Who needs it? Fuck these people and fuck Trump!

What freedoms will they give up? Already white so white privilege. How many of them plan their families? You get pregnant, you make do. Plus one more government assistance baby. Healthcare? Many are on free healthcare - Medicaid. Student loan assistance? Doubtful when you didn't even graduate from high school. How many of the women even have good paying jobs with a future, muchless concerned with discrimination in the workplace. The women are used to being controlled by either daddy or their husband. But most importantly, they believe that Trump will keep them away from the evil, scary immigrants.
