Susan, because Trump like so many idiots believes in destroying or what Elon Musk likes to say, he is a Disruptor, which is what you do when people are in cults and you need to deprogram them, or using drugs, but not when you are raising a child, or running a country. Of course Trump and Musk have never done either. Trump was the vehicle through which a lot of bad actors ran the country before while he mostly golfed. I says , send a plague of gophers to Mar-a-lago and disrupt his golf games.

Putin was handed the US on a platter with Trump's win, but he helped get his best asset into the White House again, along with another asset, or is Musk Trump's handler for Putin? Time will tell.

I have said Trump was a Russian deep cover spy when he first ran every night at dinner, in a tongue in cheek manner. I said he was planted to create chaos in the country. Putin, with dangerous media war on our people, over the years, along with his buddies from other ililberal countries, has been bombarding us with bots, and planting information for their US assets to spread on their own, as they suck up to Trump who is the master spreader of Russian disinformation. Once the US is out of the way, what will happen. It is not going to play itself out as Putin wants because Russia will still be a terrible place to live, just one that added the US to its list of terrible places to live as they jealously go after the rest.

Scandinavia is ready for Putin by updating their war preparedness. Read this article, and look at the 4 booklets for the civilian population and then make your own hybrid. They are all in English. As my Book Club was reading Project 2025, we turned to Andra Watkin's Substack because she has pieces that have made Christian Nationalism and the indoctrination of these people pretty clear. Since it is outside of my daily experience, I can see how that is a powerful piece of the picks. We see that they are both CNs, as well as Russian assets, in that an asset can be intentional or unintentional, but for many it is some of both. They are selling Putin's talking points and propaganda as much as they are Trump's.

The important thing about CNs, or as Prof. Timothy Snyder calles them Christian Reconstructionists, is that they are all about the End-of Days. The old school CNs don't need us all to bow to their Lord to get where they want to go, but the newer The New Apostolic Reformation Charismatic Christians believe that God is not coming to take them to Heaven unless EVERYONE writ large on the planet is living in what they call A Godly manner, meaning what they say HE wants. We are in the way of their eternal happiness. So, they have to force it on us, and for that they get points.

Given that the Congress, Supreme Court and White House are filled with these Project 2025 writing people, who are singular in their determination, and do not care about temporal life supposedly, everything is about that goal. So, schooling does not matter, the environment, even the economy, or avoiding war and nuclear catastrophe does not matter. I don't believe Putin is this kind of Christian (or any kind for that matter), so I am guessing he isn't going to want Trump to let Hegseth go all the way into leading us into nuclear annihilation, but that is just my guess.

There are a lot of survivalists in the USA who are probably really well prepared. But there is a basic level of preparedness we should all be having. You can use any combination of the above brochures, but at least start thinking about what you could be preparing for.

I read an article where a woman Ukrainian was interviewed who had survived Chernobyl. She was telling us that instead of staying inside for 3 days and taking iodine tablets, or something like that, Gorbachev made them all march and she went with her 4-year-old daughter and marched, because they did not know any better. I wished more people knew better than to follow their leadership, but people also were not given a choice. What I am reading is that one has to stay low for about a week before the air clears. One will want rain to come. It is something we should not be looking at as inevitable death, but what do we need to get beyond it. Looking at bomb shelters. The USA has relied on deterrence, but juvenile Americans that put the unserious junior high schoolers in charge, means that the rest of us need to be the adults.

Someone on Facebook accused me of having TDS, Trump derangement syndrome.

I countered with Anthony Scaramucci’s remark, “I have TFS, Trump Fatigue Syndrome.

I then coined a new acronym for folks who voted for Trump. DTASS. Dumber than a stump syndrome.

I need a Bloody Mary and bottle of Valium. This will be a long 4 years.

I wonder who termed it trump derangement syndrome and why tfg uses it when speaking about himself in the third person---it's a great moniker...of COURSE he's deranged!

Ethereal fairy Natalie's avatar

They stole it from people telling them they were deranged about Hillary, and Obama, not recognizing their qualifications, and believing the Russian and NYT (who was merrily selling us out even then) propaganda. Of course they are also deranged about trump, so it fits them better than anyone who realizes trump is a useless pile of dreck.

Trumpian incompetence is our friend. Most second-term presidents have big plans that hardly ever work out. I feel for the most vulnerable among us who will be on the receiving end of program cuts, INS raids, etc. The rest of us can resist and you best believe we will. Writing from a mercifully blue state, where expertise and democracy aren't dead yet.

Alas, he remains a negativity machine, albeit a deteriorating one. He in unable to do anything constructive and lives for chaos, which is what he is creating in his new administration. All the infighting is just what he wants so nothing can get done. Whatever he may say, he only wants everyone to be at everyone else's throats. He is out to destroy our country and our planet. I am alarmed by anyone who wants to try and work with him. It is impossible. Resistance is all we have as a counter to his monstrous energy.

Expand full comment
Ellis Weiner's avatar

I disagree. He creates chaos, but what he lives for is money and revenge (maybe not in that order). Of course, he has to deal with his vast ignorance, short attention span and lack of discipline, susceptiblity to flattery, need for daddy-substitute approval, and ongoing mental deterioration. Those around him know this, and yes, that will put them at each other's throats to see who can manipulate him better.

Reading about the Trump Transition Team's sharp elbows, jockeying for a seat on the plane next to him, shouting over each other, and racing to be the daily face and loudest voice in the media, I'm reminded of that great comedy "The Death of Stalin" (https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=the+day+stalin+died+movie).

The way that Minorman Gaetz cajoled and flattered his way into the worst Cabinet nomination in history is an awful reminder of what an incredibly easy mark that malignant narcissist idiot golf nut is.
