sorry, Angry Jeff shoved Funny Jeff in the locker and wrote this one all by himself

Lucius's avatar

Nothing wrong with that. Seeing other people as viscerally angry about all this as we are is incredibly cathartic and validating.

I don't think anyone needs to apologize for being angry about the current government and political situation.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Absolutely agree! Anytime I need a junkyard dog it's you Jeff!

We love Funny Jeff and Angry Jeff just as much as we hate Idiot Trump and Evil Trump.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Absofuckinglutely agree with you and Kathleen Lucius!!

Charles Austin's avatar

Angry Jeff was perfect today. 😡

Joel Rosenfeld's avatar

Looking at our democracy dying in the near future plus a USA/Russia alliance who's goal is world conquest is one hell of a reason to get freaking angry.....Brooklyn Rosey

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

Yes, I think we're done until we do something dramatic. I've been somewhat hopeful we could survive this, but that hope is GONE.

Punkette's avatar

I still have hope, but it is shaky. That’s what the monsters want, though - so I will cling to what is left with all my might. 🥺 My parents survived World War II under Hitler, so by golly I can survive this.

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

No, I meant, there will be no peaceful resolution to this. The republican party is bought and paid for by the russians, whom the billionaires support.

Mitch Moncrief's avatar

Would you mind letting me know who takes the place of the US in the WWII scenario of saving Western Europe in our present day dive into authoritarianism? Australia? Germany? NATO??

I expect massive protests w Hegseth giving the orders to shoot the protesters.

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

Germany, Britain, France, and Poland.

Susan Travis's avatar

Yes, perfect! It is cathartic! Everything, everywhere, all at once 😱🤬💔😤

If there’s one small salvo to this, it was seeing Marco Rubio’s soul leave his body yesterday.

Understood. Hard to be funny on this one. Ukraine having admirably fought to keep their country and getting kicked in the teeth by Demented Orange is a fucking travesty.

Jeff, I regularly shove Funny Lighthearted Wendy to the side, while Angry Druid Trans Mom Wendy takes over, her claws come out, and often, I suffer a damaged keyboard. But Its for all the good of everyone else. So Worry not, my friend.

shee-rah's avatar

I understand! I was yelling at my TV screen this morning.

Susan Keefer's avatar

That’s just fine Jeff! I feel sick about Ukraine. 🤢😭

Susan Keefer's avatar

From Jim Stewartson:

“You don’t have to be a “conspiracy theorist” to see what’s going on here. Donald Trump is and has been an asset of the Russian government for nearly 4 decades—at least. Literally every move the regime has made in the first month has benefited war criminal Vladimir Putin. All of it.”

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

I've been convinced that t is a russian asset since 2015. What's taken others so long?

I feel sicker than sick, angry sick like I want to pull my own hair out. This is just so blazingly wrong in so many ways. And the feeling of helplessness, & powerlessness as we watch it all burn is overwhelming. 🤬🤮🤬

I do too, I’ve even cried from the pain & embarrassment of this skullduggery. It’s disgusting

J.R.'s avatar

Understandable anger, justifiable anger. To be fair, the Truscott attribution is humorous; nevertheless, even gallows humor isn’t enough to ‘splain the turd Ukraine’s world is about turn into and, by extension, our own li’l slice of paradise as well.

Gina's avatar

I was so angry all day yesterday that I don't know if I'll appreciate humour, however dark, every again

Yarnartist's avatar

I get it, Angry Jeff. I wake up angry (and nauseated) every day now. I can barely look at the news without getting dry heaves. There is so much hate percolating around inside me I should explode, but I keep waking up and those feckin’ eejits are still in the news, merrily breathing the air. I thought Putin had cancer; why is he still moving???

Cheri Collins's avatar

I wake up that way, too, Nunya.

Bonnie Council's avatar

Me? Up at 3 am (again) writing never-to-be-read emails to Republican senators. The anger never ends.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

All one of my two Repub senators will let me do is leave a callback number, and of course, I never get a return call.

Bonnie Council's avatar

That's why I write emails. I actually heard back from one: Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee. She actually might be malleable. If we all write her, beg her not to confirm Kash Patel (my biggest concern today) and then more to voice all our other concerns, maybe we can convince her she doesn't have to be a lemming. All we need is to get a few of them to stand up to this totalitarian effort. All we need is to convince them to not be afraid of donald trump.

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

Maybe they replaced a large number of his organs?

Lynn Van Haren's avatar

Trump is rewriting history again & the MAGAts will believe it all

Bonnie Council's avatar

Not just rewriting history; rewriting today & tomorrow before they even happen. The world is his pallet & he gets to paint it any way he wants. And nobody is stopping him. That’s the real galling part. Every one of his toadies stands there & acts like he’s actually telling the truth. I hope they all burn in whatever semblance of hell frightens them the most.

Cheri Collins's avatar

Yes, Lynn, and that's the truly sickening part - maga's complete gullibility.

Lisa K. Obrien's avatar

Yes, gullibility and culpability. Because although some will certainly try to deny their involvement in this destruction, I am making it a personal mission to be sure these fuckers own it. All of it.

shee-rah's avatar

Or they’re as stupid and demented as Donny Dumbshit.

drosophilist's avatar

I read about it in the Guardian. Seems we have to go outside the U.S. for proper info these days.

Susan Keefer's avatar

That’s the paper I subscribed to. It’s sad, but I won’t read the US press and the Post used to be my hometown paper. 😢

Polly Sears's avatar

OMG. What is more concerning about his comments ,is how seriously demented he is. I didn't like his first stint in office, but, he could (sometimes) make sense. And, he has the suitcase ? There must be a way to get him out of the office, followed quickly by JD, and, all the MAGA MAFIA!! We all fought so hard to elect VP Harris. Where is everyone today? Susan Linehan's avatar

One of the defining traits of a bigot is to apply one instance of something bad to a group to all members of a group. A black robs a bank? All blacks are criminals. A Jew does something greedy and grasping? All Jews are greedy and grasping. One immigrant kills a girl? All immigrants are murderers and we must write laws specifically anticipating that THEY are criminals, even when the law already punishes the act.

Why do I bring this up here? Because though we like to think that WE are pure of heart and would never do that, I see it happening over and over with regards to Main Stream Media.

If WaPo leaves out a story you think needs covering, or if it doesn't cover a story the way you want, it is totally untrustworthy and not worthy of your informed regard.

This is true of a lot of MSM, including the NYT of course. (I don't watch TV at all, much less TV news, so I don't know about what they are or are not covering). There is a lot I don't like or that I disagree with in MSM. But there is also a lot they do that I DO agree with, and if I cancelled my subscription in a snit, I'd never see it. NYT ran an amazing story a while ago backing up the apartheid actions of Israel both in the West Bank/East Jerusalem and within its actual borders. WaPo recently ran a gripping story of deaths in an Alabama sawmill which demonstrated why OSHA needs strengthening, not gutting. There are countless examples. Yes, I also read stories in the Independent and the Guardian. But neither has the resources to cover much that is important but not critical news.

BTW: WaPo has been covering trump's demands on Ukraine and its blaming Ukraine for "starting the war" since at least the 15th. Haven't had time to look in the NYT.

Sure, WaPo's advertising policies may spark our outrage. But it is flat out false--one might say LIE--that it has been all approving of trump or the musk apocalypse. Far from it. Despite Bezos, it has been reporting stuff that will piss off trump day after day.

WHY do we self-censor? Isn't the point of a free press to present multiple points of view? And even if we think that a media outlet is "too accommodating" of trump there is, believe it or not, lots of stuff going on in the world that doesn't involve trump, hard as he is trying to make it seem like he is not just the King of America but Lord of the Universe.

I think of reading multiple sources, some of which I disagree with, some of which I seriously deplore, as practice for my bull shit detector. (Fox and worse has already overloaded that, though I will click on some stories on Fox News STATIONS because they sometimes cover things I don't see elsewhere, say about news local to the station that links to some issue I've been following elsewhere)

NOTHING will meet the challenges of our time better than restricting our information to places we deem wholly agreeable.

How do we reconcile the fact that our country, the #1 military power in the world, gave communist Russia its’ renaissance?

Kim Nesvig's avatar

Agreed. It’s still a smoldering dump and will continue to be, even after Musk/Trump divert USAID funds to “invest” in the russian economy. Why? Because its now a kleptocracy. Kim Nesvig's avatar

Putin has wanted revenge on the US for the failure of the Soviet Union. He’s getting it. Destroying our democracy is only part of the retribution he seeks. He is using Musk/Trump to destroy the union and reduce Americans to poverty.

But one wonders what happens to the world then? The immediate aftermath is likely to be a massive worldwide Depression. What comes after that is anyone’s guess.

Aren't there some Russian assets frozen somewhere since the war on Ukraine began? I vaguely remember pressure being placed on Biden to disburse them to pay for Vlad's destruction.
