Right. These Republicans who cower to him…whats that about? Is being “primaried” that much of a threat when they point out the MANY obvious lies and misdeeds of this heinous man? And do they not possess the character and decency to do so, even at the risk of their own future?

I don't know how they live with themselves when they kiss his ass all the time. When they settle into bed every night, do they do so with a smile on their face and think, "Ah, another day of propping up the biggest asshole in the world and pretending he's a political genius...zzzzz..." No regard for anyone but themselves (and him).

They all think that once Trump snarfs his last hamberder they can go back to being "normal" republicans.

Uh folks, that ship has sailed. It is MAGA all the way from here on out.

Republican politicians are all playing Renfield to the Undead, brain-sucking monster that is MAGA. But they were the same under Reagan, who fired 11,300+ striking air traffic controllers and destroyed their careers by barring them for life from those jobs.

They’re all politicians. This is what politicians do: Maintain their phony-baloney jobs at all costs. Looking at you, spineless Dems, as well as the loathsome Repubs.

Truly. I am shocked that 25 Dem senators voted to confirm Big Oil toady Doug Burgum as our new Secretary of the Interior. Such a huge step backwards from our previous secretary, the fabulous Deb Haaland - first Native American to hold that post. (Hoping Deb runs for governor of New Mexico so I can move back and vote for her.)

C’mon home Punkette, you’ll be so glad you did; & great idea for Deb to run for Gov, she’d be great. 👍

Awww, thanks P.J. I have been trying to get back to the Land of Enchantment for five years now. Was on my way in 2020 and then the pandemic hit. I miss NM like an arm! 🥲 🌶️

Okay, I got the list of the senators voting for Burgum. If you live in CO, MN,NH, NM, NV and VA, your senators both voted for this Big Oil enthusiast. For those of us who are big environmental and climate change enthusiasts (!), not so good. CA, DE, and MA--both senators voted against him. The real shocker was Schumer voted against him!!! My advice is do NOT donate to the DNC and the DSCC! Donate to individuals only. A lot of these senators could care less about the environment, apparently.

Maryland Senator Alsobrooks voted for him. She also voted for Sean Duffy, the "Secretary of Transportation". I sent her a blistering email and demanded that she stop voting for the pig's nominees or resign and get out of the way for someone with a spine.

Yes, I saw that. She asked me for money, but I didn't. It's a terrible indication of what kind of senator she may be. I was shocked to see how many Democrats, and those I thought were good (Mark Kelly, Ruben Gallego, Sheldon Whitehouse) voted for him. Burgum will not be helpful against climate change, and there they are, just following orders.

They know nothing about history so of course they don't know what a quisling is. Just a reminder that Vidkun Quisling was executed for treason. The Norwegians knew what to do with him.

I don’t understand … why are you dubious of my Senators Padilla and Schiff? They both voted no on Burgum, which is what we wanted.

Expand full comment
longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

They're my senators too. But I wrote letter after letter to Padilla, and he constantly supported Israel, despite the genocide Israel has committed in Gaza. And Schiff? His behavior during the recent senatorial campaign, where he did everything he could to get Katie Porter out of the race, was despicable. I supported Lee, but to watch Schiff push Garvey (a Dodger!) so that the top two would be Garvey, the weakest candidate, and himself, was disgusting. Also, they have both taken money from AIPAC, but at least Padilla only took about $30,000. Until the genocide, I thought Padilla was the best, but now, I don't know. Genocide is pretty unforgivable.

There must be more money in being a congressperson or a senator than meets the eye. Or Putin knows something about them that he's passed on T and they're afraid of being outed. Their behavior is not normal.

They are assuming they would lose in those primaries Trump sponsors. Why? Do they assume R voters want worse representatives than themselves? Or maybe it would cost them to have to campaign in a primary? Who knows?

The answer to your primaried question is YES and the answer to the character question is NO. As the Democratic Senators who questioned Trump's cabinet nominees -"it's a simple YES or NO answer". They're just deplorable and despicable
