I know it's hard, but remember: they -want- you to feel hopeless. not giving into it is an act of civil disobedience

counterlife's avatar

Civil disobedience should include collective laughing at these creatures for two reasons. First it makes use feel better (thank you Mr. Tiedrich), and second, it hurts the the Dunning Kruger sadists who are currently running far too much of the show. They are desperate to be perceived as clever, unique and smart, laughing at them is sometimes the only weapon that hurts them. It won't change them, but I am okay with denying them what they want most

Scott Gilbert's avatar

Right you are! One of our best defenses is to point and laugh. Nazis marching? Hit them with glitter bombs and then laugh at them and call them "Gay Glitter Babies." They will absolutely hate it and not be able to combat it.

Y'know, shit like that.

Jacqueline Klein's avatar

That glitter needs to have all the colors of the rainbow. They are terrified of rainbows.

Ole Anderson's avatar

I imagine they’re not all that keen on glitter of any color.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

I say, I like your style! glitter is a great weapon and it ends up everywhere!

Morgan's avatar

Glitter is official the STD of crafts

And that is exactly what Trump's followers are, Ameri-nazis as members of the New American Nazi Party. It will be killing off children who will no longer be getting money through SNAP, while the farmers have to throw food away, Ameri-nazidom will be killing off children and their parents through starvation. Can you imagine going to an orphanage under the Trump administration. Call them concentration camps of Christian Nationalist evil doers.

Dave the Spot-on Moron's avatar

Single them out. They are cowards alone. Their only “strength” is when these “Patriot Front” (for example) assholes gang up. They can’t stay in a mob forever. Eventually, they have to go home. When they do, call them out on their Nazi shit. Bully them for a change.

YES!

Trump is the upper left peak on the Dunning-Kruger curve. 👇 https://bsky.app/profile/justinsg.bsky.social/post/3lgyra2gsl22b

I wonder how these SS Advantage plans will be funded with the Markets cratering?

Kay-El's avatar

I’m marching today, even though it’s raining

Margaret's avatar

Me too, Kay-El! Working on my sign now.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Excellent, so very good on you Kay-EI!!

Tim Shaw's avatar

I went to a rally at noon. Weather was beautiful. Still hard to stay confident.

Kay-El's avatar

Yeah, I know. However, the weather cleared up so I’ll take it as a good sign

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

Kay-El a march against the Con or a march against the Swastikkkar maker?

Kay-El's avatar

It was definitely both

Keith's avatar

civil disobedience is my middle name! MR CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE CITIZEN!

celeste k.'s avatar

No way do I feel hopeless. I feel pissed and robbed of a working government, replaced by a pack of criminals.

I attend a rally at 5PM today, and thereafter where and whenever I can. I also try to share a civics lesson with those who will listen, and hand out copies of the Constitution. All that while warning and informing people of the cluster fuck happening because of an orange traitor. Never hopeless.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

I’m trying to find copies of my Catholic grade school 8th grade civics book to hand out to these fucking MAGA mental mendicants

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

I'm not hopeless. I'm so furious I almost can't see straight.

Capitan ShitInPants should get down on his knees daily and praise Reagan. Reagan & his administration declared war on democracy (in a subtle but evil way) and his war was continued by Shrub (esp. with NCLB) and now Drimpfy wants to made voting illegal. But it was Reagan who sufficiently damaged democracy, and resulted in at least one invalid Presidential outcome, and several Republican congressional majorities that had democracy not been wounded, wouldn't have happened. I curse Reagan on a daily basis. What I say about Drimpf is unchristian & profane so I won't say it here, but I'm sure I'm not alone about my feelings about Mr. StupidTieFiftyTwoInchWaist.

Tim Trew's avatar

Good to see you in Peekskill

Louise Pattison's avatar

Reading you has given me hope. But, sorry, but I just can't get up any empathy for Lara Trump's failed plastic surgery.

Mike Hammer's avatar

So we start drinking cheap Russian vodka and shoot AK-47 assault rifles instead of drinking Kentucky whiskey and shooting AR-15’s? Kinda feels like a wash. And Tommy Tubberville is so stupid he thinks fucking is a city in China.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Fact checked ever? Call him on this shit he makes up is so wonky there is nothing written about these things it’s fabricated!

Barb Z.'s avatar

Well, I guess a silver lining, for our farmers producing more than America can consume, is that there won’t be enough migrant farm workers to get many of the crops in. Of course their numbers might somewhat be made up for by out of work federal employees.

DuduLovesBubu's avatar

Ammunition is the only thing to not depreciate in this coming Trump recession. Actually having ammunition might be well appreciated.

Hollie Rood's avatar

Damn! You made me laugh so hard I almost chocked🤣🤣

Kay-El's avatar

Old McDonald had a farm

EIEIO

In the shitter it will go

EIEIO

With a tariff here and a tariff there everywhere a tariff

Donny Fuckwit made it so

EIEIO

Kay-El's avatar

Nobody wants to hear me sing, my friend.

Anne Whitney's avatar

Hey I read something today about the last farm tariff debacle and why farmers still voted for trump...and it's not a total shocker but it pissed me off. Last time they bailed the farmers out after tanking ag markets with $28 billion - larger than some agencies. We paid for the tariffs to make it right last time and there were zero consequences for orange shitstain. This whole pretend that he doesn't know we the people are going to pay for it again is complete bullshit.

Susan Niemann's avatar

I’m so depressed. We’re failing fast. I still can’t believe there isn’t one Republican with even a shred of conscience to stand up to all this. Did you see Dump signed an EO against Covington and Burling who are representing Jack Smith? https://open.substack.com/pub/contrarian/p/why-president-trump-targeting-a-major?r=39x24&utm_medium=ios It was in The Contrarian. Dump is dangerously insane. How can we stop all this?

Susan Keefer's avatar

It’s so obvious now that Trump IS Putin’s Puppet.

Glad I got rid of my stocks before I lost everything.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

It’s certainly taken people far too long to understand these truths Susan! Hillary told the world, the world wasn’t apparently listening… there’s a plethora of books, investigations and articles that spelled out the Trump/Putin history. My angst is based on our own intelligence knowledge of this fact, but electing to remain silent!!

arne link's avatar

I have CD's. I hope the FDIC continues but they will probably fire all those people, too.

Anne Whitney's avatar

I read about the possible repeal of FDIC and the other one for credit unions. There are some people writing about it on substack. Maybe pay attention to any news that hints at FDIC reform or whatnot. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Market down 650pts now 600 at close yesterday, but what do they know.

DuduLovesBubu's avatar

There's still opportunity to loss everything when Donny Convict decrees fuck paying on debt and bonds.

Stephen Brady's avatar

That will render the Dollar utterly worthless… like the Deutschmark in 1932. There is one country in Sub-Saharan Africa which was printing 2 trillion dollar bills…

Outdoorluvr's avatar

I think that's what they're working toward. trump announced somewhere that the U.S. Treasury is going to be investing in 5 cryptocurrencies. Your tax dollars at work... So even our cash is going to be worthless at some point in the (near?) future.

Mike Hammer's avatar

Jen Rubin was horrified this morning and for good reason.

Stephen Brady's avatar

There may be nothing legal. The Founders never imagined a creep like Comrade Krasnov getting within shouting distance of the Oval Office.

Ole Anderson's avatar

exactly. it is time for the GOP to treat his diktats for what they are, meaningless viz a viz law and Congressional legislation.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

But shitheads that vote (congress) on it will be wimpy and get hammered in advance, now we have the roadmap for how a dipshit can go thru one fortune after another.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Right...It still sends a dangerous message. I'm confident that the people at C&B are up to the challenge.

Apropos of nothing on this post, but after the Oscars, all I can say is that I really don't see why I'd want to watch a movie about a stripper / hooker who marries into a Russian crime family who hates her when I've had the Trump family in front of my face every fucking day for a decade.

Richard Von Busack's avatar

Wait, is Lara Trump the horse Daffy Don is going to appoint to the Senate?

Kay-El's avatar

Mr. Ed makes more sense than Lara Trump

DR Darke's avatar

No, because unlike Lara Trump, Incitatus was actually quite moral!

The only reason Claudius had to rescind his Senate seat was because once Caligula stopped paying for it, that poor horse couldn't pass the means test. OTOH, his post-Senate career in Claudius's stables was preferable—plenty of oats, and no haggling with other Senators (like the Roman equivalent of Tommy Tubesteak!) he was clearly smarter than....

Ole Anderson's avatar

It’s desantis who May appoint her. But he wants to put a space saver in there so he can run for the seat in 2026 when he term limits out as Guv. Shades of shady rick scott

Melinda Morrell's avatar

I went and looked at an article on Lara Trump's debut at Fox News. Her face reminds me more of Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Two more things: Lara Trump already had a horse face🐴. And WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE DEMOCRATS??????

Keith's avatar

hopefully taking talking points from rep jasmine crockett

Susan Niemann's avatar

HA! Thats accurate. We need a NEW party. Cause the D's are doing nothing...

Terri Nighswonger's avatar

HOW IN THE FUCKING HELL COULD YOU LOSE TO REPUGS?????????

I don’t think they actually did legitimately lose, Terri.

I went on Fox News website to see her face. It reminds me more of those blank face masks on a stick in those anti-depressant ads--a face without a soul!!

Great column as always! This quote:

“when you have companies like this coming in and almost forty percent of their company in one signature is going to be devoted to what he does which is one of the most important businesses in the world. that’s an unbelievable thing.”

Reminded me of a stunning quote from Jeff last month about “the family of raccoons living in his head won’t stop chewing the wires.”

I want to know where he gets seated at SOTU tonight. That will tell a lot.

Morgan's avatar

I don’t think I can watch it.. I’ll just throw up from all the bullshit

Hannah's avatar

It's not a SOTU. It's just a stupid speech.

-Comment-'s avatar

Oh, probably you’re right, he’s trying to reference the Space Nazi’s Space X. That’s convenient for Musk to live in the White House while Trump is away from DC (and cognitive functioning.)

I'm heartsick that half of this country is too stupid to not have seen this coming. I can't wrap my head around the concept that the price of eggs is more important than this nation's place in world affairs. We will not be planting Victory Gardens. Morgan's avatar

Donny doesn't understand tariffs, but his puppet masters do so I'm assuming this would not be happening if they didn't want it as well. Why? How about creating a peasant class - poor, sick, uneducated - who have to work at shitty jobs if they want any kind of health insurance. And for those on SS and Medicare? To quote Scrooge, "Let them die and reduce the surplus population.

Blue Witch's avatar

I think their game is to destroy the government and then privatize everything, so Donny Dumbass's nasty little oligarchs can have a feast of new profit centers from which to exploit us.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

Sorta like what Putin did to Russia. Coincidence? I think not!

Ole Anderson's avatar

I was listening to James Carville and he was perplexed. He said the only thing that makes sense is that trump hates America.

That would certainly explain it.

Ava's avatar

Those same farmers have already seen severe damage after the illegal defunding of USAID - and there will no doubt be a bailout to shift the burden to other taxpayers (in addition to the price increases we're already seeing). The rest of us will (again) pay the huge bill for bailing out the farmers with federal funds due to damage from the tariffs (also in addition to the price increases on everything else we buy). The vast majority of the farm vote is red and, despite sparse populations, tips the electoral college. Red states already pay less in federal taxes than blue states, but receive more than blue states in return. What tax dollars will be funding the inevitable tariff bailout? Blue tax dollars. As education funding, social security, Medicare/Medicaid, disaster aid, etc. etc. are eliminated, we'll be expected to make up for those in our states - and pay for the red states as well. This imbalance has driven us closer to the breaking point than we've been in more than a hundred and fifty years. We're a nation divided against itself - and time's running out.
