And did you hear what their defense was? "All the other real estate kids in New York lie about their values too!" hahaha I once tried that with a state cop who pulled me over for speeding, and it didn't work then, either.

I need a new word for the utter joy and elation I am feeling right now. "Uberschadenfreude" is a start, but barely touches my glee...

Alicia Norman's avatar

maybe he can be Omnibused the hell out of the country.

Marie Martin's avatar

Omnifucked. So much cooler than uber or megafucked.

Dr J's Sanity Space's avatar

YS, I tried same in traffic court & the judge said he does not accept the lemming defense!! Uberschadenfreude is delicious...

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

OMG, Yooper! I’m LMAO! If you only knew how many times I heard that in my 26 year career!

“Officer, everyone else speeds, I’m just trying to keep up!”

I font think so.....TICKET!!!

Alicia Norman's avatar

I know right, everyone else committing a crime is not a defense--its why whattaboutism can't and does not work.

Michael M's avatar

I still remember:

ME: "But what about that guy who just apssed me before you pulled me over?"

COP: "Yeah, but you were speeding too, and you're the guy I pulled over."

Made sense. BUT WHAT ABOUT THAT GUY WHO JUST PASSED ME? (For all I know, I've been that guy 20 times over.)

I'm hoping that Atty. James will strongly recommend taking the Chicago property. I am sick of seeing that jackass' name above the river. My hairdresser used to work in the building next door and whenever I would go for my appointments, I would give the one-finger salute to the building.

Songgirl Kim's avatar

It’s a blight on the beautiful Chicago skyline, and it is in violation of environmental laws and national permits. Every time I’m on on the RiverWalk, I give it the finger.

Michael M's avatar

And oddly, it's not a bad looking building, unlike most of the rest of his crap.

Pretty sure there will be a parade and block party with champagne corks flying when those letters come down.

Tardigret's avatar

It just about ruined an otherwise enjoyable evening watching the light show by the river last summer.

Alicia Norman's avatar

I do wonder how far this will extend outside of New York's borders...

minor point: there is no jury in this case. Trump opted for a bench trial. Really really dumb when in fact you did what you were accused of and there is evidence to show you did and NO evidence to show you didn't. That's when summary judgment happens, whether in jury trial or bench trial. But it's faster when the judge himself is the trier of fact.

Trump's "I paid it back" is irrelevant because he USED the loans to make money. That is what will be disgorged.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

it wasn't until about five minutes AFTER I posted this that I learned that Trump had asked for a bench trial. oh my god, he's so fucking stupid. anyway, if I had known, I would have worked it into today's piece.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

OH MY GOD, it's even worse than we thought. the reason Trump is getting a bench trial is because Alina Habba — the literal parking garage lawyer — FORGOT TO FILE PAPERWORK ASKING FOR A JURY TRIAL. holy shit. https://twitter.com/MeidasTouch/status/1708867062217720007

Openly Fae's avatar

Excuse me while I die laughing.

RV maxima's avatar

Sublime!

Oh how we have waited for this!!!

And he looks like the junior moron he is in that photo!

Only the best people!!

Oh how this made my day!!

Mary Virginia Hughes's avatar

That is great!! So she gave Trump a box of nails and a hammer for the coffin she set up for him. And this judge has made clear as day what he thinks of this whole thing.

Don'tBlameTheDog's avatar

See? Maybe there is a god!

Tardigret's avatar

hey, but Alina Habba is probably either: a) willing to work for free (for the notoriety, haha), b) flattered him shamelessly, which is literally the way anyone can get him to do any fucking thing, if you tell him he's your hero and inspiration 🤢, or c) both.

Don'tBlameTheDog's avatar

If you have seen her talk about tfg on OAN, she is absolutely blinded with love and devotion. Thinks he is a very good person who cares about people. Just like the old ladies I overheard in the store the other day. Cult stuff.

Doc Blase''s avatar

It's the self-hypnosis syndrome. Many have fallen for it. #ETTD.

Terry Heyman's avatar

To the lawyers out there: could this mistake by Habba set Trump up to later claim "ineffective assistance of counsel" and get a new trial? Asking for a friend.

Terry Heyman's avatar

OPPS! Just learned the "ineffective assistance of counsel" argument for a new trial only applies in criminal cases. This is a civil fraud suit. Trump has so many cases against him both civil and criminal, I need a spreadsheet to keep track. My bad.

Michael M's avatar

Right. Was wondering if he already paid her off on the side to do this so he can later claim it was legal malpractice. And after that she'll be surprised when he throws her under the bus and/or sues her, as a last step before issuing thinly veiled death threats.

Michael M's avatar

Yeah, she forgot to check a box. Dollar Store lawyers don't need to sweat details like that.

You could do a whole column on how a former president who even remotely might be maybe a little bit innocent would have decent, household-name lawyers stampeding to represent him, but instead they are staying away in droves. Maybe do a column on which mail order law schools and Bahama law schools all his lawyers went to.

Ann Anderson's avatar

"The proceedings paused for a lunch break shortly before 1 p.m. On his way out of the courtroom, Trump hovered right over James, who was still seated in the front row. Standing about a foot away from her, Trump leaned over and glared."

Chet Brandt's avatar

I would’ve looked at him and just smiled. Knowing in the back of my mind that this jerk off is going to pay out his ass at the end of the day.

Chet Brandt's avatar

Can’t fix stupid! This fact is so fucking PERFECT I can’t stand it!!! The “genius” got played by his own counsel!! I bet you Michel Cohen would not have made that mistake…..just saying.

Charlie Austin's avatar

Alina Habba is incompetent?? No!

Alicia Norman's avatar

Yep--but hey, at least she's pretty!

Alicia Norman's avatar

Glad I am not the only one who noticed--she looks like a younger Melania.

Openly Fae's avatar

If it helps any, it will get worked into him even if you're not the one to do it. Guaranteed. ;)

Lorraine Parish's avatar

It's like, "Your honor, yes I did rob the bank but they wouldn't give me the money so I left. No one was harmed so what's the big deal?"

Don'tBlameTheDog's avatar

My fantasy: tfg can't keep his mouth shut in court today. As he is hollering 'Fake News!' the deputies are dragging him out of court. Am I a bad person?

Sharon Horton's avatar

Nah, that fantasy has been endemic for a few years now! And I wanna see it live on video and getting millions of views on youtube.

Ruth A James's avatar

Well, NO. But, if you are you are in good company and he did it to himself. We just had to endure and pray for this Justice day. “Let Freedom Ring”. Best to all. 🇺🇸 thank you Judge for doing your duty. Finally we can trust (you) and pray the others follow your leadership. Our Country has been in dire need of your commitment to TRUTH. 🇺🇸🙏🏻♥️

James Starr's avatar

I just wonder, those deputies dragging him out, are they MAGA too? Or are they sane? Either way I hope they do their job and not give TFG ANY special treatment

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

Hell no! It’s good to have positive thoughts and dreams! Any psychologist will tell you that! Did you picture Frumpy

, 🍓💩🤡, eating a can of cold soup someone gave him while he, and his family were panhandling?

Marie Martin's avatar

Bad to the bone. In the best way.

Alicia Norman's avatar

MAGA doesn't understand that not all crimes are about violence and murder--we have regulations in place to safeguard the economy and what not. But these are the same folks who argue that trickle down economics works.

Charlie Austin's avatar

Yellow liquid trickling down on their heads.

Alicia Norman's avatar

and we all know where "THAT" is coming from.

Doc Blase''s avatar

MAGA rubes are unreachable by facts, logic or proof. As Rick Wilson wrote today,

"You can’t change them. They aren’t conservatives. They’re not Republicans. They’re in a statist, authoritarian cult driven by racial animus, lurid conspiracy twaddle, and a corrupt media-entertainment outrage complex that has conditioned them to constant outrage with a steady drip of agitprop."

Dean Gavney's avatar

In a bench trial it’s probably not a good idea to attack the fucking judge...

“ Speaking to television cameras during the break, Mr. Trump calls for Justice Engoron to be disbarred. "This is a judge that should be out of office," he said.

"This is a judge that some people say could be charged criminally for what he's doing."

Michael M's avatar

"Some people"?

The same "Some people" that Bill "$44 million to pay off sexual assault claims" O'Reilly was always talking about?

Dean Gavney's avatar

“Some people” and “many people” are all in the Trump lexicon of code talk

Alicia Norman's avatar

Indeed, this individual literally has your lifeblood in their hands. Trump lacks both impulse control and common sense.

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

Something else I’m wondering about. I heard on the news this morning from a person who’s been following this Trump case, and has been in the courtroom every session.

The judge ruled in ONE count against him in this case. According to her, there are SIX (6) counts against Trump, his corporations, his sons and his daughter. And they’ve all been called as witnesses for the defense, AND prosecution.

She reported the judge still has to do the other five counts of fraud, and all against all of them.

The 🍓💩🤡 is sooooooo screwed!!!

Alicia Norman's avatar

Daniel I am so here for it, I am so ready for Karma to bite that evil man and his cult in the tookus!

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

Oh, my, my, Alicia. When did we start calling that portion of the anatomy a “tookus”? That’s a new one on this old man!

Doc Blase''s avatar

Before 1960, that's for sure.

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

I missed that one, apparently. I was just getting into my teens early 60s.

Alicia Norman's avatar

Could be a southern thang, but I have heard it before and I always found it funny, lol!

DonP's avatar

There'll be another stick in his craw if he watched CNN's Jake Tapper show when Nancy Pelosi was interviewed. She said, "...It's such a fraud when they start the basis of this is spending. They gave a tax cut to the richest people in America, to the cost of 2 trillion dollars to our national debt when what's his name was president of the United States."

I live. You know that was on purpose, and I for one, am so here for it.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Oh, damn. I missed that interview. I must find it. I love Nancy...she's one smart, fearless woman.

Deborah Lang's avatar

Thank You! Officially changing TFG to WHN--:):):)

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

I wish I could have seen that. She’s to the point she refuses to acknowledge the scum. Now it’s just “what’s his name.....”

Cassandra Here's avatar

He engorged now he will be forced to disgorge. Perfect words to described this greedy bastard-who-would-be-king.

Openly Fae's avatar

When I think of "engorged", I think of ticks. Granted, this is still a parasite, sooooo...

Lesley Zimmermann's avatar

You think of tics, I think of dicks. That says something about me but I don’t know what.

Openly Fae's avatar

A lot of them are parasitic too!

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

Lesley, you better not let Frumpy know thus. He’s liable to think he can come grab you in your juice!

Lorraine Parish's avatar

I hope he engorges masses amounts of ice cream, hamberders and aspartame loaded diet cokes, then disgorges all that shit while laying in a hospital bed paralyzed, but coherent, by a massive stroke.

Wanda Mohr's avatar

He hasn't been coherent for years, so a stroke wouldn't help or hurt his coherence. But if he has one, he should remain sentient enough to contemplate how his chickens have come home to roost.

Deborah Lang's avatar

He better have Part C since there will be no money left for his private health insurance

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

Parts A, B, C, D, and Medicare. He’s going to be so broke he won’t be able to afford his cheap suits and ridiculous red tie hanging to his knees!

I want to see him, and every member of his family on the damn street panhandling! They deserve to see how our side of his nose lives!

Doc Blase''s avatar

What I hope for is a single week during which we don't hear / read anything about their wretched name, see their crooked inbred pictures, or their treasonous activities before I croak.

1 week, 7 days of normal.

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

I fully agree, Doc! But, I’m 71, and for the last 50+ years, I’ve been trying to define “normal”. I have yet to figure that out.

It seems we rid ourselves of one issue, and another just takes its place.

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

Better yet, laying in a steel bunk in a jail cell.

FTrump And FPutin Too's avatar

When TFG said anyone who commits petty theft from a store “should be shot, SHOT!” to the cheering Magat crowd. They blindly don’t think of applying the same punishment to those that have stolen from banks, nonprofits, the government, subcontractors, lawyers, etc., through fraud or nonpayment. Will Magats cheer when their own children are shot dead for shoplifting? The just don’t think.

Doc Blase''s avatar

You can’t change them. They aren’t conservatives. They’re not Republicans. They’re in a statist, authoritarian cult driven by racial animus, lurid conspiracy twaddle, and a corrupt media-entertainment outrage complex that has conditioned them to constant outrage with a steady drip of agitprop.

Kay-El's avatar

I am delighted to think that Orange Pusball will come out of this with little left in his vast portfolio of garishness. Crime did pay for a while but Karma is coming to take it back. Boo fucking hoo indeed.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Ahhh....Letitia James is not fucking around...indeed! I'm giddy with your column today. And when he claims "no one was hurt", it points out what a fuck he really is. DAMN. I despise this nasty man and am looking forward to the prison bars clanging once and for all. THANK YOU JEFF!

Speaking of, where is IRS in this? Why has there been NOTHING during all these years?

Sköll's avatar

Fuck, Yeah! How is Little Fuckface going to flee to Kaliningrad from his Scotland golf course without his 757? Putin might have to send a rubber raft of Spetsnaz to Maga Lardo to extricate him.

Lorraine Parish's avatar

And if they take his plane how's he gonna get around to his stupid rallies, by bus? That I'd love to see.

Patty Mooney's avatar

GREYHOUND, and he can sit in the back next to the terlit.

Mark L's avatar

And has anybody checked his loan portfolio from Deutsche Bank?

Whatever happened to his Business Advisors ? Are they still alive? Just an afterthought, or are they now living in St Petersburg.

Sköll's avatar

Hard to say, but some of the oligarchs recently have been thrown 0out of high rise windows and their money disgorged to Putin.

Mark L's avatar

Some Some you say?

I have been following this Developing Story for a while now, like if the US had that many billionaires falling out of windows......

Sköll's avatar

A portent of the future, lol

Doc Blase''s avatar

Deutsche Bank is on the alternate /rebuttal witness list. Several people from there.

Mark L's avatar

We shall see, time will tell

Runfastandwin's avatar

I'm guessing North Korea. Sometime in the next ten months.

Sköll's avatar

Or a rubber raft from Scotland but that would put them up against the SAS.

un poco loco's avatar

The SA-fucking-S would not put up with that. I'd love to see it happen, but it would totally take place without witnesses -- they'd just disappear, Spetznaz, raft, Trump & all.

Nancy Beck's avatar

I wonder if Saudi Arabia is a possibility?

Runfastandwin's avatar

I considered that but I don't think it is willing to completely alienate its strongest ally.

bluesyfish's avatar

I woulda guessed Saudi Arabia...but I'd rather Putin take him just in case there's a cup of tea or a nearby window waiting.....

Nancy Beck's avatar

Yep. My guess is Saudi Arabia.

Doc Blase''s avatar

"Maga Lardo ".

Instant classic!!! OMG that's first-rate ridicule right there.

Neal Stiffelman's avatar

Keep everybody smirking. You've certainly earned my continued support.

Damn, what a world.

un poco loco's avatar

I love the smell of schadenfreude in the morning.

Sköll's avatar

Congratulations, you won the Internet post of the day!

kdsherpa's avatar

I put your "disgorged to pukin" as my #1 for the day!

Ann Anderson's avatar

You're in good form today, Jeff. What a delightful read.

Diana-Sedona's avatar

Back in 2016, a few days after that horrible day when it was announced Donny Fuckface (Jeff...yet another perfect name) would be going to the Oval Office, my granddaughter and I arrived in Las Vegas to run the Rock ‘n Roll 1/2. As we were driving across the overpass near the Fuckface hotel I flipped it off and took a photo. My granddaugther said “way to go grandma”. That day I hoped like hell the day would come when DF’s name would be removed from every building bearing it and it looks like all these years later that might just become a reality. Hallelujah!

Denese Langevin's avatar

This is the best news I’ve heard in a while! Karma’s a bitch bro. 💩🤡

Rick Calegari's avatar

All one can do is smile after reading this piece. Hardly anything better than seeing the tangerine turd lose his ass for being a life long shyster. As much as this is great news, shouldn't there be real estate appraisers who also would've been part of this fraudulent shit show be held accountable as well?

Catherine's avatar

What i also love about this is it disgorges his spawn of the money too-i really never want to deal with them in the future either. Now can they disgorge Jared of his ill-gotten Saudi money? Gotta hope there's an investigation on that. This is seeming to be a great day for once.

David Minick's avatar

A joyful day indeed.
