"Oil prices rise above $100 a barrel for first time since July as Iran war escalates

Brent crude up by close to 3% after latest fire between US and Iran in Gulf and Houthi attacks on Saudi cities"

ace job, Donny. re-ignite your unwinnable war and raise the price of everything even higher, less than two months before an election. what a master strategist

Jeff, can we just keep getting angry about it? I want to, I really do.

I have been doing this shit long enough to know the difference between chaos and method, and this is method. You do not accidentally rescind a child-welfare rule and accidentally fuckin forget to replace it. Somebody sat in a chair and typed that shit out. Somebody's ass-ghoulish name is on it. I want the name, the whole chickenshit chain of initials above it, and I want it read out loud in a room that person cannot walk out of. Because I have a voice motherfuckers. And I am coming for you.

Forgot to add the bit about Trump and Dementia:

Here's what turns my stomach, genuinely, past contempt and into something colder. There's a whole ecosystem of people around this β€” the Grifter-in-Chief's cabinet, the aides, the Racist RatWizard writing the policy in the next office over β€” and every one of them has decided that their access is worth more than the country knowing whether the boss can follow a briefing. They are not confused. They looked at it and chose. That's not tragedy β€” tragedy requires somebody to be surprised. That's a decision, made by adults, on purpose, repeatedly, by people who then go home and sleep like well-fed infants, which is the single most damning goddamn-detail in the entire file.

The Heritage Foundation, Project 2025, Russell Vought, the John Roberts Supreme Court Corrupt Six, Mitch McConnell. I'd start there.

Stephen Brady's avatar

They played a long game to bring back the Gilded Age and The Roaring 20s... If we can wrest control of The Government out of their greedy little hands, we need to amend the Constitution to enable Wealth Caps and wealth taxes. We also need to deal wit the Megacorps.

HI2thDoc's avatar

In the distant future, the 2020s will be regarded as a horrendous combination of the new gilded age and the redux of the original Roaring Twenties, where vulture capitalism, shallow opulence, open avarice, and heedless self-indulgence drowned out rationality and responsibility.

Deb Lane's avatar

Exactly!! You are speaking my thoughts!!

I. LOATHE. him.

My local farmer's market has been pretty resilient against price changes. Even eggs never went up during the great egg crisis of 2024. But lately even they have had to raise prices on everything.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

it really seems as if every time I go into my local grocery story, everything costs more

Joyce's avatar

I'm trying to figure out the administration's math regarding inflation: how, exactly, can inflation "still be hovering"* (* I believe this is a required phrase that must be included in any mention of inflation rates; it might be stipulated in the Constitution) around the 3% Biden's people got it down to, and yet steak is now $20/lb, butter has gone from $2.99/lb to $5.99/lb, sweet onions $1.29/lb to $1.69/lb......and on and on.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Soybean Scott Bessent, Howie "I Took the Wife and Kids to Epstein Island" Nutlick, and Kevin "Keebler" Hasset are all completely ignorant of math, are lying through their teeth, or probably both.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Nutlick's younger brother, an employee at his firm Cantor Fitzgerald, died in the World Trade Center on 9-11. Like RFK Jr. watching Shitler destroy the JFK Kennedy Memorial Center, how can he pledge his soul in allegiance to that squalid, ugly POS? Or maybe the gutless idiots have no soul.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Nutlick's rationale is "my brother is gone, so I may as well join the drumpf grift machine, 'cuz MONEY!"

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

They are all pieces of garbage.

arne link's avatar

The price of beef is off the charts. I really don't buy beef much, but I saw the prices at Costco and was shocked.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I wouldn't say "seems." I would say it IS costing more. Lettuce is $3.99 a pound. It ranged from $1.99-$2.99 just a couple of years ago. I walk through the grocery store and go, "I can cut things out but if I had a family I have no idea how I'd feed them anymore." Imagine trying to feed growing teenagers! You could no longer do that on an average salary.

Stephen Brady's avatar

My Sunday morning trip to the grocery was about $60 a year ago is very nearly $100 today. There is something funky about the way the inflation rate is being calculated.

Lisa Bieber's avatar

The price of gas just to get their produce to town is ridiculous.

Theresa Palmer's avatar

I see this now, every day. How high will these costs go?

I'm still supporting local/organic. Even if it's just two or three specific things each week, it helps them.

We're going to need them, and our own gardens, when this gets ugly. We're almost there.

There is no bag of dicks capacious enough to hold the amount of dicks this fat fuckaroo should be forced to eat, and anyone supporting this piece of excrement can fuck all the way off the edge of the earth.

Joyce's avatar

And then keeping fucking off until he fucks off all the way into the fucking sun.

Tess's avatar

Great Claudia pics! It does help to look at an honest, loving, and smart beauty after seeing the disgusted piggy lying his ass off. So sick of this! Keep 9/11 in our hearts. Media better wake the fuck up!

devourerofpancakes's avatar

I miss those big ugly desk phones so much. The sound was crystal clear and I could hold it comfortable between my shoulder and ear. No I will not buy blue tooth ear buds. Get off my lawn!

Susan Niemann's avatar

HA! I remember our phone systems in the office. We used to write and produce the on hold messages for people. The old old days! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I worked at a local motel in HS and College. We actually had a switchboard - the type where you plugged in a wire to connect a call. And, we had a telefax machine for reservations - the address was: HOJOMOLOLEXSO...

arne link's avatar

You can tell that he's really losing it. He forgot to say that the big strong firemen had tears in their eyes.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

it's ok, I filled in that missing blank

michellefromchicago's avatar

They also forgot to call him β€œsir!β€œ

arne link's avatar

Oh, right. I missed that.

If that orange mf'er had been pulled from the rubble, it would have been on the front page of every newspaper in the northeast for days - he'd have made sure of it, and Murdoch would've complied.

Ingrid Robertshaw's avatar

I lived in New Jersey. I read the NY papers...not one word. That asshole would have been on every news show etc.

What a sad sack. He is pissed because he is not allowed to spew his mouth diarrhea.

Susan P Thatcher's avatar

He'd have been telling it since 09/12/2026, with a ghost-written book.

Leu2500's avatar

apparently some version of it dates back to the 2015/16 campaign.

All of it all contradicted by his own words in the audio/video of that interview he gave on 9/11, bragging about 40 wall st now being the tallest building in NYC

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Giuliani's career as mayor got a giant shot of Second Chance when he marched in front of First Responders and the media on 911. He's still bragging about it. I don't remember seeing him standing beside Jon Stewart in his battle against Republicans to win benefits for World Trade Center First Responders.

Chad's avatar

That last line about McConnell is the definition of a chef’s kiss. Well done (as always).

That was one of my favorites! I’m waiting with someone for a doctors appointment and unfortunately laughed out loud…

But couldn’t explain why.

Cindy Watter's avatar

Oh, I would say why. But I have Kaiser, the people’s HMO.

arne link's avatar

That was brilliant, wasn't it?

Michael Johnson's avatar

Believe we all know exactly where we were and what we were doing at the exact moment we heard - just as we remember where we were & what we were doing when we heard about JFK, MLK & RFK, and I was only 6 when JFK was assassinated.

It's nice you post your 'Claudia pics' at the end of your posts - snaps us back into decency. She was truly a lovely woman. We are all the beneficiaries of your 'process.'

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I was standing in front of my TV holding my copy of Slayer's "God Hates Us All" which I was supposed to be writing a review of that day for our local newspaper.

Susan P Thatcher's avatar

The new "rescue" story is as much stolen valor as the AI of him with a Medal of Honor.

Just telling this lie is about as unpatriotic as it gets. Indeed, he's shitting on the actual survivors, the rescuers, those who tried to rescue and died, and everyone who died. But shitting on people for his own self-aggrandizement and financial gain is so much on brand. I'm glad he won't be at Ground Zero because they won't let hom speak. Go pout, Asshole God knows what kind of verbal turds he would have come up with.

HI2thDoc's avatar

If what he said were true, this would have been said between the "big, strong firefighters:"

FF #1: Can you believe that tub of lard? I almost had a hernia trying to lift his ass out of there.

FF #2: Yeah, he said he can run on his own. Fat chance!

FF #1: Haha, you made a pun!

Joyce's avatar

He'll still pout about not being allowed to speak: I'll bet it'll be a grievance in the word salad he is going to be allowed to spew.

Stephen Brady's avatar

You'll find out... he's speaking at the Pentagon on the 11th.

P123Sunny's avatar

So - PROVE THAT I WASNT pulled from the rubble… I’ll wait (for about 2 weeks)…

RCWBP*

Out of all the lies this shit-stained liar has lied, the 9/11 ones hurt the most. If there were the itsy-bitsiest amount of justice in this hellscape we now live in (see: fires, 125 degree heat waves), this worthless rancid meatsack would have an explosive heart attack in public on the 25th anniversary of our national horror and fall on JD Vance and smother him before anyone could react.

Joyce's avatar

I will light candles for this. Thank you.

Peter's avatar

Trump has been spewing this bullshit for 25 years, it's long past time for the media to either call him on it, or fucking ignore it. But what the actual fuck was wrong with those first responders standing behind him while he puked out those lies??? They should have either shoved a halligan tool up his ass to silence him or walked off the stage? Were they being held there are gunpoint? THere can be no other excuse.

If we knew then what we know now, would we have kept his fat ass and BIG mouth buried in the rubble?

Leigh Hamilton's avatar

It never escapes me that every single time Trump talks about men, they're all big, strong, good looking, gorgeous men. Where's Bubba when Trump needs him? If he were getting buggered enough... Bottomless stupid mixed with bottomless cruelty.

The New York Times is now a cheap, hypocritical, right-wing, almost-yellow journalism rag.

Claudia has style in every photograph.

Joyce's avatar

Donnie Demento's entire problem is that he's bottomless--his slavering descriptions of big, strong men and their biceps express his longing to be a bottom, all right.

arne link's avatar

I actually think that is what in the Epstein files. He would want to hide his proclivities because they are not compatible with his image. I think his friend/trainer Cohn introduced him to the garden of earthly delights that he longs for.

Harold Miller's avatar

Donald Trumps heart is a black hole.

No light can escape its gravitational pull.

Only lies and corruption emanate from that dark star!

Our only hope is that he collapses before engulfing our nation.
