1. Every leader who starts a war with a successful surprise attack feels triumphant the next day.

1A. The evaluation five and ten years down the road tends to be quite different.

2. Those who initiate war in the Middle East always fail to create peace or achieve security.

2A. The U. S. has a particularly bad track record in this regard.

A friend shared Timothy Snyder's 5 today. She also pointed out that the bombs were dropped on the 84th anniversary of the Nazi Operation Barbarossa. And, that turned out so well for them, NOT! She questioned whether it was intentional. Don't know. Trump does not seem that together. Someone else might be. Is it that creepy, evil demon Stephen Miller?

The difference between this and Pearl Harbor?

Was that at least Pearl Harbor was well-planned!

This? Has all the strategic *nous* of several drunken frat boys deciding to drive straight to Cancun...after picking up several ounces of cocaine charged to their Dad's business credit card.

This is one of the reasons they had the knives out for Biden for actually executing the Afghanistan withdrawal.

The legacy media, which is mainstream media for a select portion of the population that is rapidly diminishing does not know S--t! Lucian K. Truscott IV told us on Thursday that his intel, which I somehow trusted knowing who Truscott is, said that they would be bombing over the weekend, and the reasoning having something to do with the Monday stock market. Well, we shall see. Price of oil is probably going up, what else will be going up?

Knowing what Truscott has said, and I had a transatlantic flight on Friday-Saturday. I was somewhat worried about Trump bombing Iran while I was at the airport or in midair and retaliation being a bomb on our airport or plane. It sounds paranoid, but it seems in line with the sorts of retaliations that has happened over the past.

While everyone might expect Iran to set up some sort of Israeli pager number, or Ukrainian stealth Truck drone bomber move, I am thinking the more likely short term, bombing US bases, setting bombs in airports, planes, hacking our infrastructure, no electricity during a heatwave would be torture to Americans whose homes are not build as if they live in hot climates and might not have air conditioning. Our ships will be attacked, or hospitals, any US government building, so add to the demoralization of our government work force the worry about bombs and things could get worse rapidly.

Also, I would not want to be flying in and out of DC right now. And, Israel has how many embassies in the US? I would not want to be walking by them or into them, or working in them, or in their embassies in any other country either. I have been discussing this with Jewish friends, who do not feel Netanyahu represents them as he gets Israel into forever war.

Today, I talked to an Iranian cab driver whom I regular exchange pleasantries with. He parks at a cab stand on my block. He told me he has been in Germany for 15 years now and he is so glad that the US weakened Iran. He wants the Mullahs out. He asked who wants to live in a country run by religious people. Clearly not him. He seemed to think that it was a one and done. He told me the Mullahs have all left the country. I'll bet.

In Tim Mak's The Counteroffensive Substack, he talks about an Iranian man who is in Ukraine who is also glad that the Ayatollah has been weakened. Then they talk about bringing back the Shah's son, and they lose me. No way do I see that boding well. Why does it have to be a choice between a Mullah and royal in the Middle East? Neither seems like a good option.

I want to know, who is going to let women dress and do as they want, and not kill off people for being LGBTQ+? That is who I would like to see there. What about someone with some economic sense?

Yes. Both my daughter and I run into many people here who do not seem to have a problem with Trump. I find that interesting too. Many of them are working class. At the university my daughter has run into some. She steers clear of them finding their ideas about the world too small and ill informed. However, the people who have been working on our house are all left of center, at least in some ways, and in voting. It is interesting.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War wonтАЩt cost a lot of money

3) We wonтАЩt need a lot of troops

4) WeтАЩll bring peace and freedom to Iraq

5) WeтАЩll find WMDs

6) WeтАЩll be welcomed as liberators

7) It will be easy

8) It wonтАЩt take long

Are they so eager for a ratings bump that they'll start a conflict that almost certainly WILL burn across the Middle East, and might even lead to a nuclear exchange? I don't know about you, but the LAST thing I want is to find out Bibi the Butcher was right all along, Iran DOES have nukes, and they're going to drop one over New York City just to show us!

Or more likely Russia will do it FOR them, since Putin is itching to get back at the U.S. for helping Ukraine....
