as if you needed more proof that Republicans are cruel racists
oh, and The New York Times can once again fuck straight off
imagine that you were born in a foreign land, and came to America as a small child. the decision to immigrate here wasn’t yours — it was your parents’.
the US is the only place you’ve ever known. you have no memories of your place of origin; you were too young to form any. America is your homeland.
you grew up here. you were educated here. you speak English. you obey the law. you have a job, and pay taxes. you are a contributing member of society.
are you one of these people? if so, Republicans have a heartfelt message of compassion for you — and that message is, ‘fuck you. enjoy your bus ride to the detention camp.’
Vivek Ramaswamy on Dreamers: “if your first act of entering this country broke the law, that doesn’t allow you to remain in this country. you have no right to enter the United States illegally.”
Jonathan Karl: “I mean, they came in as [young as] 2, 3, or 5 years old.”
Ramaswamy: “no migration without consent. think about your nation like a body. that consent should only be granted to migrants who benefit the United States of America. but those who enter without consent must be removed.”
Karl: “so they must be removed, these people that have spent their entire lives growing up [in the U.S]?”
I’m going to need to hear more about Viv’s assertion that “consent should only be granted to migrants who benefit the United States of America” — because if you earn a living, if you pay taxes — and yes, even undocumented workers are required to pay taxes — if you are contributing member of society, on what fucking planet are you not a benefit to our country?
as always with these GOP shitnozzles, cruelty is the point. we’re going to destroy the lives of these people because fuck you, that’s why. what are you going to do about it?
look, Vivek: there’s a word for someone who has lived their entire life in America. that word is American.
and there’s a word for someone who wants to turn these peoples’ lives into a living hell for no other reason but cruelty. that word is racist.
the New York Times is cordially invited to fuck itself forever.
I’m sorry, but exactly who are the elites?
the president-elect was a millionaire at age five. he lives in a hotel and shits into a golden toilet. he’s never known hardship, and has never done one honest day’s labor in his soft, pampered life.
the vice president-elect was born into obscene wealth in apartheid-era South Africa. he’s currently the wealthiest person on the planet. he, too, has never known one day of hardship.
oh wait, what am I saying? the Space Nazi isn’t the vice president-elect, he only imagines he is.
the actual vice president-elect is a millionaire, paid for and fully in the pocket of billionaire tech-bros. his backstory of coming from humble, working-class origins is almost totally fiction.
the nepo-publisher of the New York Times went to an ivy-league school, and enjoys generational wealth. he inherited his job from his father, who inherited his job from his father, who inherited his job from his father.
so I ask you again, New York Times — who the fuck are these ‘elites’ who ‘had it coming’?
I kicked myself after I posted yesterday’s roundup of sanewashers and wishcasters, because I forgot to include this pantload.
Podcaster Joe Rogan urged Donald Trump to choose unity rather than retribution after his presidential election victory.
In Thursday's episode on his wildly popular podcast, Rogan expressed enthusiasm for Trump's second term, but only if the president-elect could abandon his worst impulses.
“He’s got to unite people. He’s got to not attack the left, not attack everybody, let them all talk their shit, but unite,” Rogan said.
the thing about Joe Rogan is that he’s not very bright. his whole deal is to invite batshit conspiracy-slingers onto his podcast, listen to them spew their insane crap, and go oh, huh, I didn’t know that. how interesting.
but here Joe is — after letting Donny onto his show to spend three hours spewing lies, hatred, and division — calling for him to unify the country.
Joe Rogan is a credulous dope.
I want to close with this message from Senator Cory Booker. it’s long, but bear with it — because it’s important to keep in mind that there are people like Cory in Washington, still fighting the good fight every day, and still looking out for us.
“like many of you in this moment, I think I have felt the full range of emotion — shock, hurt, anger, fear, pain — and I’ve done my share of introspection. it’s hard to work through the consequences of this election, from Project 2025 to Trump threatening retribution and even prosecution against people who stood against him. so yeah — it’s hard now, and there are tough times ahead. things are not okay. we should feel grief — but never despair. we should be angry, but not bitter. sad, but not cynical. this is a defeat, but we are not defeated. I promise you: there is something in all of us that is unconquerable. take instruction and inspiration from those who came before us. our ancestors in our nation’s long history. what they had to take on, the setbacks they faced — and how, despite tragedy, wretched oppression, unimaginable loss and grief, they kept working to overcome, and move our nation forward. our ancestors’ legacy to us is a masters class in invincible spirit, to never giving up, to unconquerable love.”
“I don’t know for sure what’s going to happen. we have to be ready, though, to stand up and do the work. I know we may lose some of the fights ahead. but if we fight, we will win some, too.”
“in this time, we should make extra effort to care for one another. to find, create, and deepen community. we are here for a purpose. now, more than ever, other people — this country, and even this world — needs us to do a lot of good. as much as we can.”
“Donald Trump is president, and Republicans will control the Senate — but we are not powerless. we can still love one another. we can still help people. we can still protect people. we can still put our arms around folks — and to someone today, we can be a ray of light in a dark, tough time. we can — we will — do good. because no righteous word, no noble act, no kind deed, is ever in vain. we are our ancestors’ dreams — and the only hope for a better tomorrow. let’s be hope, not look for it. and let’s start now.”
thank you, Corey.
I’m fully on Team Booker here. all of us who can, need to stay engaged — and we need to be here for the people who need help.
that said …
this is going to be my closing message for the foreseeable future:
practice self-care. do what you need to do to keep sane. if that means disengaging with my daily posts for a while, I get it. this community of ours will still be here when you return.
to all the people who have signed on in the days since the election, welcome aboard. settle in as we all try to deal with the shitfuckery that’s ahead of us.
we are all in this together, and we are all here for each other.
I wake up every morning with dread and panic. Fear. I look at others wondering… are you a Trumper? I won’t trust anyone who is. Our lives have been destroyed by a criminal and they cheer for him. WTF? We’ve become a willfully shithole country and thank god for communities like this where I don’t feel so alone. ✌️
"Vivek Ramaswamy on Dreamers: “if your first act of entering this country broke the law, that doesn’t allow you to remain in this country. you have no right to enter the United States illegally.”
Doesn't Elon Musk fall into that category?
