Has Patel got Graves disease?

Expand full comment
Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

NO! I had Graves Disease until they irradiated my thyroid, putting me on Synthroid for the rest of my natural life to prevent HyPOthyroidism. One month later my eyes began to bulge (as the muscles grow larger than one's eye sockets, forcing one's eyes to protrude). It's devastating, especially for young women - those like me who wore contact lenses to see clearly and now had to deal with permanently painful eyes. I don't see that same 'bulging' with Patel. He clearly has wonky eyes but not 'that'. My mother's Patel-type stary eyes weren't attributed to thyroid disease either. MY diagnosis was the first (and so far the last) in my entire family. It's more likely environmental for me. For him? Manson-style Craziness.

Expand full comment
Tess Chapman's avatar

I'm a retired nurse. And I know the symptoms for Graves' disease differs for men and women. But all one needs to do to verify this information is Google it. So your situation is anecdotal.

Perhaps Mr. Patel's possible Graves' is undiagnosed and not treated, but the thyroid is very much a part of cognitive and neurological function.

Krazy-eyes Patel is how I hear him referred to most often. In my own life, there's a younger (very attractive in fact) ;) landscape contractor who built our stone patios front and back. We became good friends, going out to dinner off and on; him remembering my birthday by dropping off roses every year, checking on us, etc. Much too young to have the serious medical issues he's since developed so we don't see him nearly as often, sadly, but a very interesting person to be around. A close family member of HIS is a long-time feebee somewhere out in the MidWest. Despite their more conservative viewpoints I canNOT imagine either of them thinking Patel heading up the FBI is even close to a good idea. Our pal took one look at a photo of my mother as a young woman and said: 'crazy-eyes: sociopath, ouch'. I'd never realized it showed before that day - then took a harder look at all of her younger photos that I had and there it was. He hadn't previously known about her nonstop abuse.

It’s okay. I’m pretty sure KKKash will give you plenty more opportunities to write about him. We’ve been watching the three separate branches of government merging into one big MAGA machine. The media, which has always been considered the fourth estate, is now collapsing before our eyes. They were our last hope. But it’s no surprise about Jimmy Kimmel. Trump has been after him since he made those jokes about him at the Oscars. A sociopathic, malignant narcissist like Trump has absolutely no sense of humor, unless it’s at the expense of someone else.

Expand full comment
Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

THIS! and the worst part about that specific Oscar brouhaha was that Jimmy merely read aloud exactly what frump had tweeted out about HIM! Which of course pissed off the toddler-in-chief who imagined his nastiness would stay 'private'. Jimmy then added: 'Isn't it past your jailtime'? getting an ENORMOUS laugh - and applause from the Awards audience as it fully sank in. They ROARED, which is the real impetus behind the orange fuckwit's savage insults about Jimmy. What a fucking child!

At the time (I was young) it made me happy because they now couldn't be considered 'separate' and a classmate of mine was from there and as horrid as I thought the Nuns were to me, they were far worse to her. I remember little else but it was a BIG DEAL for the people it impacted and my Dad had spent time there and loved the people. It bothered me only because it shouldn't have been such a big deal but I hadn't yet grasped the full extent of how racism and discrimination worked in every day life but it did upset me that black people were still fair game, as evinced by my own mother's viciousness.

I used to read the ABC news website every single day - now I don’t and will never consume their content ever again. (Same for CBS.) I used to wait until Disney movies came out on DVD and buy and watch them at home. Now - never again.

I live 3 1/2 hours from Orlando and I think it is safe to say the place you are least likely to ever find me again in Disney World.

The greatest science fiction writers foretold a world where truth itself could be twisted until people no longer knew what was real, where governments could watch every move and every word and where endless distractions would thwart resistance. The politicians and government would use feigned religion and self-righteousness twisted into tyranny and corporations and machines would erode what it means to be human. They also showed that authoritarians fears comedy and art above all else because it cannot be controlled sparking imagination, memory, laughter, and dissent. That is why totalitarian regimes in their novels tried to erase it, replace it, or redefine it as dangerous or “unclean.” It’s not only that these fascists can’t handle being made fun, they can’t handle the truth in any form and have to crush it whoever it exits.

My take on the hat was she (POS) didn’t want to be seen with him (he must’ve missed a payment). It won’t be long before Rubio has a similar look.

Not that any of those assoles at the FCC care to look, but Jimmy's Thread about CK's death was very kind, honest, joke-free, and 100% more heartfelt than anything that ever fell out of trump's mouth over his supposed friend. Maybe Jimmy can cut and paste that and send it to Kirk's family for the alleged apology he now has to send.

We're off the edge of the map. People are getting fired right and left for not being sad enough over a racist homophobe who was allowed to spew his hate across the country AS HIS JOB but now that 1st Amendment is getting shredded in his name. I'd say make it make sense but nothing does anymore.

As Jonathan Last reminded us - almost exactly a year ago, at the one and only Presidential debate, Donald Trump declared that Haitians in Springfield, Ohio were eating their neighbors cats and dogs. "They're eating the dogs, the people that came in, they're eating the cats. They're eating the pets of the people that live there, and this is what's happening in our country , and it's a shame. That was false. Totally untrue.

Last went on to remind us that 7 days later, JD Vance went on CNN and admitted that the story was a lie. And he justified his deception as part of a greater mission: The American media ignored this stuff until Donald Trump and I started talking about cat memes. If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, that's what I'm going to do.

So let's all ask Brendan Carr where the hell he was when Donald Trump and JD Vance were telling outright falsehoods about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio on the network media.

First, to those on Liar, Fraud, Con, Grifter, Convicted-felon Trump’s Team of Threatening Psycho-Sycophants, I take seriously your threats to take away my rights under the First Amendment; my rights to voice my opinion and to protest in a peaceful, non-violent, non-threatening manner.

Second, to Liar Trump, Psycho Bondi, Psycho Blanche, Psycho Miller, Psycho Hegseth (and others in similar positions in Fraud Trump’s administration) my full and truthful disclaimer: I am not part of any group, association or network. I am a citizen of these United States acting purely on his own. I’ve not been radicalized by anyone; my opinions are based on common sense – that our country elected to the highest office in the land, a person who is pure and utter scum, a person who is our nation’s Presidential Accident & Disgrace. Our nation’s divider-in-chief, a person who constantly lies to the American People, a person who has filled his administration with incompetent, equally divisive, god-damn fucking morons/goons.

As to Charlie Kirk, a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, “Thoughts & Prayers.” As to our Second Amendment, I do believe that our Founding Fathers never envisioned the invention of automatic weapons, weapons capable of slaughtering hundreds of innocent schoolchildren in a fraction of time. How about our elected officials enact common-sense gun control laws.

President Donald J Trump will go down in history as the Worst. President. Ever., a shitstain on, and embarrassment to, the United States of America.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

The double standard that the MAGAts have forced on America continues to get even more egregious. Murder of State Rep. Hortman and her husband by an anti-choice Trump supporter, leaving their children orphans? Not one fucking word of condemnation or even condolences from the right. Not one. Murder of Kirk by the scion of republican gun lovers? MAGA smears the left with blame (and without proof), paints him a hero, awards him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, flags at half staff, and now Bondi wants to prosecute a Home Depot employee for not producing flyers celebrating this racist anti-woman homophobe. Remember when the right absolutely backed that Xtian baker in CO for refusing to bake a wedding cake for that same sex couple? Because FREEDUMB. So different now when the shoe’s on the other foot. Fucking fascists

PSA re Disney/Hulu: if you plan to cancel your service, be sure to also go into the privacy settings and follow the ridiculous rigamarole necessary to actually delete your entire account.

Otherwise they will merely pause your subscription but retain your data, and be able to claim that you are an account holder. (to advertisers, investors etc.)

I never really used Hulu but did sign up for it a few years ago for a specific thing, and was aghast last night to find that while my paid subscription had been canceled, they still had me as a member.
