look, I hear what you're all saying about Comey, and I have slightly rewritten the following passage, from

"I detest this guy for what he did to the email lady in 2016 — but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t all stand with Comey when he’s the victim of fucked-up fascism on steroids."

to

"I detest this guy for what he did to the email lady in 2016. James Comey is not our friend — but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t all stand with Comey when he’s the victim of fucked-up fascism on steroids. let Comey find his comeuppance in a way that doesn’t shred our system of justice."

He had previously said his wife and daughters voted for Hillary in 2016, so I assume they have never let him forget how his actions not only torpedoed her but led to this. At least I hope they have. Repeatedly.

IIRC, Comey got caught between a rock and a hard place. He could disclose the new findings, or be accused later of concealing it. It was a no-win situation for him.

Expand full comment
Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

No, it wasn't. The FBI has repeatedly said they don't talk about ongoing investigations. Comey shattered protocol and put Trump in the White House over something that just days after he revealed it turned out to be nothing. But it was too late. The NY Times had already run dozens of front-page stories, driving national coverage so that going into Election Day, the only "issue" anyone was talking about was "her emails." He could have just gone what the FBI always did—nothing.

Expand full comment
kdsherpa's avatar

No it wasn't. The rule is that the FBI is not supposed to reveal any information regarding the Presidential election for THIRTY DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION!! He flagrantly broke that rule, and WE, THE PEOPLE, lost our candidate. I hold Comey completely responsible for that.

Let’s hope his wife and daughters are cut from the same cloth as my first wife: NEVER forget a thing you didn’t like that a person did and - more importantly - NEVER let them forget that they fucked up and you will never forgive them, nor forget. Comey’s hell may be a never ending, awkward Thanksgiving Dinner with his wife and daughters. (If there were such a thing as hell…)

Methinks just a WEE spot of, ahem, 'sarcasm' here, Dave? ;) For MY part, I distinctly remember being SO PISSED at him, using a lot of WTF'S but also then being SO pleased that Hillary STILL WON the popular vote (even though WE lost her from the WH) but which has stuck like a thorn in frump's side ever since. Of course his magats refuse to accept that We The People chose her to this day. I honestly don't believe hComey truly meant what happened to happen - just blundered into doing what he thought was 'the right thing' out of a sense of duty, although now seeing what Anastasia and kd have written causes some confusion as his behaviour since (and that of Maureen) has more than proven they're not in league with the orange moron.

Alt National Park Service said it best for me:

“This isn’t really about Comey, it’s about the cost of defiance. Sooner or later, they will try to claim us all. No one is immune. The regime lies, defies court orders, and wields power through a corrupt Supreme Court. Thinking you’re safe from the power grab is naïve. People like Trump have no allies, only subjects and enemies.“

Expand full comment
Susan Burgess's avatar

Expand full comment
George in Atlanta's avatar

So that's what tanked her election? Oh, 'plain and simple'; that ends any argument.

I both-sides nothing. Her Ladyship was next in rotation so they put her on the stage. That was our foretaste of how fucked up the Dems were. The country didn't want her, least of all the racist, misogynistic rubes who now rule it. The country wanted Trump. The country got Trump. I sort of doubt that anything the Dems did one way or the other would have mattered.

I voted for her because I had no other choice. But here's the thing, citizens: that whole 'choice' thing is coming full circle. The Dems hardly exist anymore. There's the reeking mass with the name GOP, and then there's the Opposition. The opposition is messy, unstructured, and has no leadership. Yet. It's not like this thing is at all ambiguous, and most (not all) of our talking heads are catching up with this fact. Trump wants a totalitarian police state because that's what he wants. The way he acts, it appears to be personal. He's a frightened little weasel, lashing out at forces he barely understands. His remarkable setting up of this, right in front of God and Country, by berating Bondi indicates to me there is no larger goal here. He just wants to be safe, so feels he can't stop, because the whole planet hates his guts (except for a handful of dictators who find him useful and 77M mentally-challenged rubes).

So the choice? Fight. Or not. Comey's treatment of the "Server Lady" is not what Trump is persecuting him for. His guilt in that matter, and in any sense, is irrelevant.

I want to hear more about Hogsbreath summoning generals and admirals from around the World to convene at Quantico Marine base outside Washington in the coming days. What is the purpose of this and does it not leave us vulnerable to have our entire military top command away from their posts at the same time?

My immediate thought it is going to be some kind of collective ring kissing ceremony for trump and those who don’t bend the knee will be seeing involuntary retirement in their immediate future. This will strip the ranks of all who might object when the Military is turned loose for live fire action against any protesting citizens.

If the judge doesn't toss this ridiculous nonsense, it will blow up in Trump's face when discovery gets rolling.

The point was (trumPF getting) the indictment headline (and he GOT IT)… a conviction - not as important :/

*remember he wrote his PR headlines with DPecker @The National Enquirer for a decade or 2… helluva internship:/ PLUS RCohn… PLUS WWE😒

I’m wondering how/why the grand jury indicted him in the first place. They’ve been rather willing lately to decline to indict in some of these bullshit cases.

All this crap from Trump and his minions has overshadowed the fact that former French President Sarkozy was just sentenced to five years in prison for a crime less egregious than those committed by Trump.

It of course has no bearing on this entire regime of clownfucking dumbasses that they try to pull this vendetta bullshit using the legal system just as Kenneth Chesebro, previously disbarred in NY now got suspended from law practice in DC. Look into yer future, Bondi, Halligan, and all you lying, asskissing trumphumpers.

Being disbarred does not matter to them. Sucking Trump's evil ass has made them unbelievable rich. They will not need to work when this is over. Hopefully, they will have to spend a lot hiring defense lawyers when they are indicted.
