I’d say unprecedented for our current democracy yes — but over the course of time? No, absolutely not.

This is all a VERY predictable arc when looking at it from a Birds Eye view. Even Greek tragedies feature it over and over again.

Right now, we find ourselves in the “nemesis” phase — activated by both gross hubris and overreach on several fronts. The nemesis phase is the downfall.

This regime is not immune. And process and oversight are an accelerant.

Take comfort in that. It sucks to live through, but these overinflated clowns are speed-running their own downfall.

I put my money where my mouth is and it's not into big corporation's pocket if I can help it. I've lectured a couple of times at rightwing Hillsdale College (on movies). The last time I was there I was interviewed for the student paper and asked if movie stars should get involved in politics. My reply was: why not? They're citizens, just like anyone else. Clint Eastwood speaks out too. What's wrong with that?

But with that mediocrity Ken Martin leading them they won't do shit and will allow the fascists to get away with everything, again. I find it interesting that Trump has not threatened Garland yet - after all, why would he? Garland was a right-wing stooge.
