The cowardice and venality of corporate media is now legend. Look at the top talent -- journalists, political satirists, investigative reporters -- targeted and driven out of their jobs to appease a slowly dying madman. Our best minds (along with the worst) are saturating the broadcast field with podcasts.

Here’s a suggestion: Boycott everything distributed by CBS/Paramount/SkyDance. That means EVERYTHING. Other wise you’re putting money into Larry Ellison’s pockets and rewarding him for degrading journalism in this country. Everything includes CBS broadcast programs (especially the NFL and other sports) as well as paramount streaming services, and anything else associated with these bootlikers.

Alexandra Wehle's avatar

The ONLY thing companies care about is💵 After Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel, the company lost $4 BILLION in revenue and stock because of -- among other things -- millions of streaming cancelations. Disney decided profit was more important than doing as His Lordship wanted. It could happen with CBS: if enough people stop watching their network + cable channels and streaming service, if they stop reading the CBS News website (or anything CBS News-related), maybe the loss in ad and other revenue could be enough for Mr. Ellis and Ms. Weiss to see things differently.

Thanks for your comment Alexandra. I wonder if its more that money ... are the corporate media moguls MAGA's?

Expand full comment
Ann Anderson's avatar

'scuse me for jumping into this convo but the answer is that most of them are neither MAGA nor non-MAGA. They're capitalists. They follow the money but the route to the money leads straight to the kissing of Trump's ass, so they're MAGA by default. Some are MAGA like Bari Weiss, now head of CBS news. Kind of a distinction without a difference because the result is the same even if motivations vary.

I read somewhere on Substack today, but of course can’t find it now, that the original interview which was something like an hour and a half+ long was edited for length. Part of the reason they edit things is for length and because they take out all “rrrs” and “ummmm”s and “let me think about that” material). She *did* ask the hardball questions and then followed up the Orange Mush’s bizarre answers. But *that* was edited out. Gosh, I wonder why??….

Smoke & mirrors. Anyone that has worked with that knows how the objective can be to make things smoother & a better experience for users. Maybe even to guide to better optimality in some way, providing broad context. This is not doing that. It is deception in a very different way & the GD ends do not justify the means. We fucking know know why & are done with this shit. I know it's like, endless, well, they do this, don't do that, & we chase our tails in speculation & giving benefit of doubt...they have demonstrated they are not earnest & honest, acting in good faith. Trustworthiness is not subjective or relative. Fuck these bastards for taking advantage & betraying us. That is something to NEVER do.
