today in 'shit that happened while I was writing this shit':

"Trump to announce $12 billion tariff relief for farmers"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/12/08/trump-farm-aid-tariffs/

so, Donny's going to bail out the farmers he bankrupted with his ruinous tariffs, which is exactly what he had to do during his first term

Same crap, new term. Trump has only two moves. One is to take money from working class people and give it the rich. The other is to take money from one group of working class people (in this case, taxpayers) and give it to the last group of working class people he screwed (in this case, farmers). Forget Trump! Start raising Hell with Republican lawmakers who could stop this instantly but choose to tolerate this. Demand to know why all of his foolishness is okay with them. They must be getting something out of it. Let's find out what.

The entire point of voting for the pricktator is to torment the minorities many of these same farmers hate. They're not so concerned about the practicality for their wallet.

And because the pricktator has destroyed the markets for American product these farmers would have to be bailed out constantly, at least till ADM or ConAgra buy our their farms. Of course the way this maladministration works, if there are any Black farmers they'll go out of their way to screw them the most.

Expand full comment

An absolute waste of $12 billion since it was self-inflicted damage. (These assholes should be left to feel the consequences of their vote. But I suppose as a whole the country needs farmers.). Yet SNAP and health care subsidies are bad. Yeah got it. And while I’m ranting we’ve hit the point, in fact probably past, where we can say “we didn’t know what was happening” about the various atrocities being committed. But what do we do? Letters to the UN 🇺🇳? And that a whole wing of the ruling class looks at all this as justified or somehow necessary? I’m rambling but this stuff addles the mind.

It's coming from the trillions that he's collected (in his head) from tariffs of course!

Expand full comment

That is correct. Domestically these evil participants can be “shielded” but not forever. There is no statute of limitations.

And to those that say “oh the ICC can’t come after them” that’s incorrect. Venezuela is a signatory of the ICC. And human rights groups can also prosecute.

The U.S. not being a signatory of the ICC does not prevent:

- ICC investigations

- ICC indictments

- ICC arrest warrants

- ICC referral by member states

- Universal jurisdiction claims

- Third-party filings by victims

- Interpol cooperation

- Travel restrictions

- Frozen assets

- Sanctions

- Bilateral extradition decisions

The ICC has prosecuted:

• Sudanese officials

• Russian officials

• Serbian officials

All representing countries that did not recognize the ICC.

In Duterte’s case, real movement only began once he left power, because strongmen shield themselves from accountability.

It took ~5 years for international criminal investigation to open.

But here’s the thing: there’s already a human rights case filed through the IAHCR — accountability has already started.
