I've updated my post, because it's been only 22 hours since Donny announced his latest peace deal, and he's already gone back to making threats. that was fast.

I really hope it's true that the Iranians are taking his posts as nothing but bombast. We could not have imagined a US president shitting out his version of foreign policy, threats against foreign enemies, and lies upon lies upon lies on a crappy social media platform that he controls? I remember the first time I saw the presidential seal on his Twitter account; I was incredulous that he was permitted to spew his insane drivel right out in the open AS PRESIDENT!! JFC we were such innocent babies then.

Gina's avatar

bombast preferable to bomb blast

DeBurgh's avatar

No one is observing the absurdity of Trump claiming to be negotiating in Good Faith while he tells the world, out loud, that he wants to steal the Iranian's oil.

The Iranians are playing him for the fool that he is. Some "experts" think that Iran's strategy is delaying the negotiations to run out the election clock to November. They forget the Persian Empire began 2,600 years ago. A few months is an eye blink to them. They are looking down the road for generations. While Donnie tells the Press "two or three more days". Clueless. Maroon. There's a better strategy than insults and bombs.

DebJS's avatar

That better strategy is the one used by the Obama administration. And it used to be established protocol that future presidents didn't rip up agreements negotiated and committed to by prior presidents.

Betsy L's avatar

The Iranians ran out the clock for Reagan, so it's not like they've never done that before.

Kim Steeves's avatar

I find it interesting that within that post he lists off countries that are in agreement of his "newest deal". The one country missing.....IRAN!!!!

Zija Pulp's avatar

Ikr? I was hoping he’d list every country across the globe but Iran. He’s a wily one, aint he?

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

ALL except for THEIR supreme leader whose entire family was horribly killed (parents, wife, children!) and he was injured/facially maimed by this incredible fuckwit we've been stuck with in OUR White House by these STUPID magat cultists. I have no doubt at all that the Iranian leader has 'plans' for our moron-in-chief's entire family as well. demento thinks HE has an 'enemies list' against people who saw through his uber stupidity? Imagine how the leader of a tough country feels when his entire family is blown up WHILE a previous agreement is in place! Vanky better stop traipsing around the World imagining she can steal an Albanian Wildlife Sanctuary/Island by saying she 'discovered' it. Forget Beavis & Butthead - their next canned 'hunting' trip just might not be so much 'fun'. I tell you - the stupid is all over that tree UNdiluted by Ivana's genes.

rlritt's avatar

It makes us look like idiots. Perhaps the people who are really negotiating are telling the Iran negotiators that Trump is just lying for the media to look big to his supporters. Iranians are probably speading propaganda to their media as well.

Linda Weide's avatar

I am remembering my thoughts about Trump during Covid and thinking as the MAGAs all whinned to get back in person how they would not be so eager to go out if bombs were dropping on them, but it is clear that unless bombs are dropping on them they have no idea what is going on with Trump and the world. That is, I believe, his target audience for his pronouncements, as well as "the market."

rlritt's avatar

But we dont want bombs dropping here, right? Bombs can't differentiate between MAGA and not MAGA.

Linda Weide's avatar

No. We don't want bombs dropping here, there or anywhere. Bombs don't differentiate, but far right parties are characterized by violence and violence leads to violence. It endangers us all to have such policies. I am just saying that they need visible proof that something is wrong. They are clearly not able to handle abstract concepts other than their ideas of God. Also violent ideas. A vengeful God is what they believe in.

I am in Europe and there are bombs dropping here, though I am not in Ukraine. We know that after wars societies are more violent. Violence breeds violence. Dr. Gary Slutkin characterizes violence as a disease. He wrote a book on treating violence. We need to plan this for Ukraine.

Cathy Rady's avatar

Donny is losing his shit because he's FINALLY attempting to 'negotiate' . . . i.e. scam, con, lie to, cheat a party that's totally willing to go toe to toe with him

Iran is refusing to cave and that's driving him (even more) nuts!

Mr. Art of the Deal's ego is being clobbered . , , publicly.

LOL

DeBurgh's avatar

When does "rope a dope" enter the meme verse again? It's obvious the Iranians are roping the dope. There must be someone smart in the Pentagon or WH who can see this. But they are afraid of the maniac in the Oval.

Unity In Defiance's avatar

He steals our election for a dementia ridden criminal moron, then becomes a trillionaire and we all get to go fuck ourselves.

What an unjust world. Allowing these two assholes either of those titles — president or trillionaire — when we all know that neither of them are even worth the fucks it took to make them.

AuntTeeFa, Trump might roll. He is kinda rollie pollie.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

He didn't "steal our election," except by spending a ridiculous amount of money on ads. We need to repeal Citizens United.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

When he told his 'fans' out loud that he 'didn't need their votes' - and 'Elon's gone to Pennsylvania...he knows those machines'...'I don't even want your votes' - what are we supposed to think? I believe there was major chicanery based on his constant claims OF cheating and 'rigged elections' since every accusation IS a confession by this fuckwit. Also remember: 'Russia, if you're listening - find her emails' (talking about Hillary). THEN he himself uses a regular, easily hacked phone to conduct 'government business'? I STILL think there's a possibility a couple of smart students (perhaps Iranian?) are pretending to negotiate with him - and he's too stupid to know the difference since there's no one left IN this regime who could figure it out? Remember, there were Northern Blue States where the top of the ticket was 'filled in' yet the rest of the ticket were all Democratic choices? Who would do that? NO ONE chose him over Kamala. We SHOULD have demanded a hand recount - something his liars pretend to want.

arne link's avatar

Why didn't she demand a recount? Why? There was obvious fuckery.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

Maybe she wanted to - and was talked out of it? Y'know, there's an entire world between how black candidates (especially women) are told to behave. and the standard while males?

Who was going to fund the recount FOR her? I know if WE'D demanded it, it would've been paid for by OUR money - but unsure what happens when a candidate requests it, especially with the fuckery the repukes got up to?

Steve in SoCal's avatar

DebJS's avatar

Also to his "credit," Musk and his DOGE boys were given free reign to rampage through all the federal agencies and departments, firing tenured federal employees, canceling congressionally approved funding, and stealing our personal, private information for god-knows-what nefarious purposes.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

That round of people were philanthropists. The robber barons also funded schools, libraries, parks, museums, symphonies and more. A friend of mine bought a crumbling, abandoned Carnegie library in Cleveland built in 1904, a jewel of a building ·ten-sided) and poured more than a million dollars into turning it into a jewel of an arts center. Philanthropists used to do stuff like this. Here in Cleveland we had Rockefellers, Carnegies, Severances, Gunds and more. One of the few similar cases I can think of today is back home in Chicago where everything is Pritzker, a very rich family that actually endows things. Well, Ken Griffin did slap his name on the Museum of Science and Industry, but what have the Uihleins done to benefit anyone? Sitting in Illinois, they successfully funded the defeat of a fair redistricting bill in Ohio.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Uihlein is a MAGA POS

Jane's avatar

He's another psychopath!

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

THIS! And why frump is SO JEALOUS because HE desperately wants to be 'the richest in the World - or trillionaire, whichever comes first'. His deep and abiding resentment of someone younger being 'better than' him sticks in his craw...even IF it's only perception - and all fakery. Watch musk be outed as an addict or worse, as revenge, and blown up into something BIG, just for donnydemento's feefees.

Stephen Brady's avatar

But the Index Funds will buy into this scam and people's retirement accounts will take the hit. How can an IPO leave him with 80% ownership of the new 'public' company???

HI2thDoc's avatar

'Cuz he's a crooked oligarch who gets special treatment

P123Sunny's avatar

Kinda like the sub prime mortgage thingy… triple AAA ratings amirite (in the bundle :)

Kay-El's avatar

My understanding is that it’s a small fraction of a total index fund. If it does well, great, if not, the hit will be negligible.

🤞🏼

Stephen Brady's avatar

But, $1.7 trillion coming out of the economy is going to eat up an awful lot of capital.

Robert Eckert's avatar

Elon, unlike the purchasers at the IPO who are locked in for months, can sell his shares immediately, before SpaceX goes belly-up.

P123Sunny's avatar

Beyond a sweetheart deal

P123Sunny's avatar

Just hoping he doesn’t take us all down with it

Frank Nuts's avatar

That was always the plan Sunny.

Behold Armatrumpon in progress. Everything Trump and Elon touch dies.

Do you think we’ll see them as a tag team in the big time wrestling thing that Trump cooked up at the a White House? Wouldn’t it be awesome to see them dancing around in their “onesies”?

Wendymae's avatar

The fallout from this will be spectacular. Since I am so risk averse when it comes to money, I don't keep my retirement savings in stocks (yes I know I've lost lots of potential gains but I don't care) I may actually be able to buy a house in the coming great depression. That is unless they abolish the FDIC and steal even more from us.

devourerofpancakes's avatar

If that were the case he'd already be gone. He's slightly behind Trump in the promise-breaking.

T L Mills's avatar

I'm praying for the same thing to happen to his SpaceX as happened to Tesla. Elon's overweening ego sank it right into the ground.

Koko in AZ's avatar

And he's gotten the SEC to relax rules about indices buying new IPO stock right away, while Musk has worked on those indices to actually buy his stock. But he maintains total control of a company that has lost billions. Those indices probably include most of our retirement income.

PrincessKrapotkin's avatar

IPO purchasers are not allowed to sell for the first few months.

Elon, however, can sell.

DrBDH's avatar

If your pension manager, 401K provider, or you in your IRA didn’t remove your money from a Nasdaq fund and put it in an S&P500 fund, you’re buying SpaceX today. In that case, your best bet is to place a sell order out of the Nasdaq fund and hope it clears before Musk cashes out next week.

It's truly more than our brains and bodies can bear. The "root cause" isn't going away, so how do we survive this except together? Numbing it with gummies has got to be better than drowning it in alcohol (in my unsolicited opinion 😋). I hope you can get a little relief from the pressure. I'm averaging 5 hours a night myself and the nightmares are wicked bad. Hang in there, Ann. ❤️

Ann Anderson's avatar

Thanks for understanding and right back atcha. Anxiety is a reasonable response to unchecked insanity. I'm determined to outlive the orange motherfucker and see better days. Praying for a good night's sleep for both of us.

I always read what Jeff has to say.

only listen (occasionally) to audio of the shit spewing out of Trump's mouth

get as much info as I can tolerate, and then avert my eyes and ears so it doesn't bury me

because I know enough to despise the assholes who are doing this shit

I don't watch horror movies or gore - because I don't need that filth poisoning my soul

so, for starters, be your own best caretaker. recognize your limits . . . you want to know what's happening, but don't linger on the details

and partition off what you need to into a file called 'Stuff I Hate But I Can't Fix it Just Yet'

I was able to find a therapist that I can do "Zoom" meetings because sometimes I can't leave the house or drive. (My medications make me dopey.) She has been great. She has encouraged me to get involved making phone calls, going to Marches, volunteering at the polls, etc. Reach out to old friends. Find like minded people. Pamper yourself. Return to a hobby you used to enjoy. (Adult coloring books are my go to.) Read or watch positive stories before bed. We got this. We are all going to be alright. Take care of you first. 💛

SleepAid from Costco. Cheap and so effective its better to start with a half tablet. Probably contains something that will eventually kill you. Win-win-win.

arne link's avatar

Just take an antihistamine. It'll knock you right out.

Angie Longenecker's avatar

That’s me. 25mg Benadryl

Joe Witkowski's avatar

Bena- Drill baby Drill! Is there a *FuckMaga* blue bill that intensifies our collective hardon for these fucking cult zombies?

Ann Anderson's avatar

So weirdly, some people react the opposite to antihistamines and get stimulated. I get restless leg syndrome. Anyhoo, I'm all stocked up now with my beloved gummies. Let's have a fun American rock and roll weekend! Woohoo!

Frank Nuts's avatar

Full disclosure Ann: besides the three gummies I also take a generic Benadryl about 10 hours before I want to wake up (it takes that long for the foggy thing to wear off for me). And to top it off, right as I’m about to fall asleep, I take a melatonin. If I wake up prematurely I’ll take another melatonin and sometimes I’m able to go back to sleep.

Side note: I tried taking 3 gummies at the same time and it didn’t work for me. I couldn’t go to sleep at all. I got wired instead of sleepy. Spreading them out at bedtime seems to work the best for me.

Terri Nighswonger's avatar

Well, take another route. I like to sleep to get away from it all.

Frank Nuts's avatar

Terri, I like to sleep too; but, sometimes Trump just won’t let me. It feels like he’s beaming into my head 24/7 (at least it seems like he’s trying— he’s up all night being crazy and broadcasting his crazy false ethos into the either and it worms its way into my brain to the point where I start asking myself “What’s the frequency Kenneth?” (er Donnie)

Frank Nuts's avatar

Me too Ann! I’m up to 3 gummies a night now — 2 as I’m winding down and 1 just before sleep (and, fast fact, that doesn’t always work). What an absolute nightmare. It’s not enough to have nightmares just at night — now we’re treated to nightmares all…day…long. Hard to get around that.

Ann Anderson's avatar

My misery does not love company but there is something positive in knowing I'm not the only one.

Frank Nuts's avatar

No Ann. You are definitely not the only one. Don’t know if it’s an age thing or a Trump thing or both. I’m thinking both.

Susie's avatar

So much of the same, Ann! Wow.

Mrs Moore's avatar

Things get more scary in the middle of the night

cablecargal's avatar

Why does the night seem to go by so slowly when something is keeping you from sleep? Maybe it's just the quiet.

Some edibles actually kept me awake, rather than helped me sleep (and they were indica). Continuous pain can drive you crazy when you can't get enough sleep.

Here's to a peaceful, restful Friday night; followed by a relaxing weekend Ann.

Ann Anderson's avatar

Yes, a sleepless night can be very long. I stopped by the dispensary today and got some of my faves. Feeling better. Started my American rock and roll weekend. Peace, calm and good sleep to you, too.

The rapidity of fatfuck’s decline, matched by his increasing resort to outright vile racist remarks at every opportunity, show just how detached from reality he is, and places new challenges for the sycophants who make their own idiocies public. No one can out-crazy him. But that won’t stop them from trying. When will the pain outweigh any entertainment value voters take from this time? (And who will be the next cabinet member to be forced out?)

It’s really hard not to be sad and angry all the time, and I just want to thank you for helping all of us get through each day.

It says something worse about Republicans in general.

Frank Nuts's avatar

Well said Neal! Can sanity please make a return!

How much in insider trading gains did his crime family reap from his TACO on the Iran strikes? Shameless, soulless, money-grubbing crooks. When they die, instead of being buried they can just be twisted into the ground like corkscrews

That’s why Barron‘s been MIA. He’s been trading futures.

Sure. Ants are people too

Frank Nuts's avatar

You Doc, I totally agree — if corporations and other “entities” can be people why not ants — they are more like people than corporations.

And yes...clearly the felon is off his rocker. Now I'm reading the threats to Social Security little Mike Johnson is making. Very upsetting. Our money, they're stealing it.

Hope the weather forecasts are right and the lightning strikes hard and often on the white trash birthday party.

They’ve been stealing it for 50 years. Raise the cap!

Just wait until after he disappears into Walter Reed for the last time. As the debris is being cleaned up, every single one of these complicit motherfuckers will deny they ever had anything to do with it (probably while secretly arranging some cultish Lost Cause version of events).

This is why these people need to go to prison, exactly as though they'd robbed a 7-11 instead of the American people. Musk needs to be tried and convicted, his assets divided among all those who were harmed. No immunity at first. A series of humiliating trials broadcast live, followed by swift convictions.

A few good prosecutions to establish a precedent, then the threat of same to revamp capitalism and the tax code. You watch all these cowards snap into line.

There is no rule about in the Constitution about needing only nine Justices in the Supreme Court, either. No Congressional approval is required beyond confirmation. We could have thirteen Justices in a month if the will was there.

Margaret's avatar

The will had better be there pretty damned soon. My pitchfork is getting restless.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

Jack Smith, a very experienced war crimes prosecutor had them there. The congressional cock suckers let them off the hook.

You’re talking too much sense J Hardy!

Thank you Jeff.

His political donors and foreign adversaries know he's an incompetent, narcissistic, sociopathic failure. As long as they can continue to manipulate him, they will support him. Mental illness? As long as they can say "nice tie" and he hands out tax cuts and compartmentalized intelligence files, why would they stop?
