by the way, there's no way I'm ever going to find the time to personally thank over a thousand well-wishers, so please accept my apology if I didn't get to yours

kdsherpa's avatar

I think you just did, in your column.

David (Dave) Jaspers's avatar

Well said. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🦃

Linda Rose's avatar

I am thankful for you and this post. I needed it today as I appreciate your insight and commentary everyday. Thank you for standing up against it all

kdsherpa's avatar

And the same to you!

Kathleen Weber's avatar

We love you Jef-fer-y, oh yes, we do-oo. Just stand still and take it like a man!

Stephen Brady's avatar

I’ll bet this is an extra special TG - having Mrs. Spouse home for the holidays. Enjoy it!

M Votaw's avatar

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We couldn’t do it without you.

Susan Keefer's avatar

Thankful for you, Jeff, and all the other Resisters out there! 🙏🇺🇸💙

Marycat2021's avatar

I'm not a resister. I'm a retired person on pensions. How do you expect we should "resist"? by reading Substacks and watching MSNBC?

FTrump And FPutin Too's avatar

Sometimes the best we can do is be present, and support our friends in our community, by listening and lifting them up kindness and gratitude. Every single person can appreciate and partake in that. Sending kind thoughts your way!

KSE's avatar

you are still welcome to the conversation, even if you understand your position differently.

Diana Hembree's avatar

Let us know how we can help...

Susan Keefer's avatar

A negative attitude isn’t going to help.

kdsherpa's avatar

I think Marcat 2021 is making a valid point. When you're housebound (as I suspect she is, and I am) and can't drive, it can be frustrating. As for me, I'm going to the 2025 version of the 2017 March (which I also attended), wheelchair and all. Any suggestions you have are TRULY appreciated.

Susan Keefer's avatar

I’m in the same boat as you are, but I still resist with donations.

kdsherpa's avatar

Thankfully, I have been able to do that, too. (Even though more than half of the thousands I sent went down the drain...) Marcat writes that she is eking out a living on her Social Security alone. What can she do, besides being an active participant? -- which I, personally, think is extremely important to group morale. Letters to one's Congresspeople is something we can do (although if, like me, you are in a totally red state, I know that they make no difference). Anything else? Marcat's request is genuine.

Jacqueline Klein's avatar

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal and a good time in general.

MJ's avatar

Life is hard, you don't always get what you want, sometimes time runs out, it is what it is.

These and other poop-nuggets of wisdom can be yours for $99.99 in my new book... :-)

Neal Stiffelman's avatar

I’m thankful for you, JT, the missus, and the community of souls we have right here.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Jeff gave a shout out to Mark Elias who files actual lawsuits that confront trump's illegal maneuvers. Here's where you can contribute: https://www.democracydocket.com/support/

Grace Kennedy's avatar

Hahaha. I just burst into tears. Man, this stuff is right at the surface. You all are keeping me off the ledge. Metaphorically😉

FTrump And FPutin Too's avatar

Yes, we want you to stay safely away from the ledge.

bluesyfish's avatar

Marc Elias is a hero! And yes, we should all throw what we can his way. Thx for putting this here.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

I do follow Marc. He is the number one lawyer who the R’s are afraid of…thank goodness!

Debbie Mitchell's avatar

I just upped my monthly contribution from $10 to $25. Not rich so it is the best I could do.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼!!!

Chucklaw's avatar

Ditto for me, right now knowing that I have JT and this community is helping to keep me sane and hopeful for better times.

Fastball Fredo's avatar

Jeff, best to you and your family.. Thanks for keeping us sane during these very difficult times. And… hey kids… don’t be like RFKJr. and shoot heroin for academic improvement… as our former First Lady said.. “Just say No” to heroin, MAGA, Fascists, Dictators, wanna be Dictators, racism, misogyny, Jew haters and Donald… Enjoy non MAGA friends and family today.. buckle up friends it’s going to be a grade A shit show😉

Kathleen Weber's avatar

OK. RFK Junior takes heroin instead of Adderall. Does he take fentanyl instead of Tylenol?

Grace Kennedy's avatar

Haha. And having a sex addiction made him a better husband and father. What a douche.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I just marvel at how inappropriate and stupid he is and sounds and there's NO self awareness by him at all that he needs to STFU. Wow.

T L Mills's avatar

Well that's what happens when a person eats undercooked roadkill, gets brain-eating parasitic worms but neglects to get proper medical treatment.

Grace Kennedy's avatar

He’s lived his life in the bubble. No real consequences for his stupid choices.

Mary Lou Williams's avatar

That unfortunately is true of most of Trump’s incoming candidates.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

That’s the unfortunate thing because his siblings do not occupy that bubble at all. They have denounced him as has Caroline Kennedy. She recently said she has been around Bobby all of her life. She knows how he is and she is in total disagreement with him.

Teri's avatar

Eweeew. A sex addict too. I'm still stuck on him hacking off a whale's head, tying it onto car roof, then driving around.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

If you can get ahold of it - read the article about him in an issue of Vanity Fair in 2024. Sorry can't remember which month. He is WORSE than what we know from just general news. Long article which goes into detail about how bad he really is.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Fredo, we will all look forward to Golf With MAGA's in the coming year! 😂✌️

Fastball Fredo's avatar

Thank you, Happy Thanksgiving. I hope to resume Golf with MAGAS next week after a round and lunch with this crew.

FTrump And FPutin Too's avatar

Maybe he needs to go back to H, to clear his mind and think straight. Just kidding but I’m sure that’s crossed more minds than just mine.

Ann Anderson's avatar

I'm more grateful for you, Jeff, than I can express without sounding like a brown-nosing loon, so I'll just say that when you write it, I read it. I'm grateful for the commenters here who are smart, snarky and insightful. I'm grateful for my senators, Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkeley, for our governor, Tina Kotek, and for our state legislature. Oregon is blue all the way down.

Mary Hall's avatar

I am a Washingtonian who is grateful that our new governor is Bob Ferguson who is our current aces AG and who does not take any shit. He beat four-time loser Dave Reichart, a former useless brain-damaged US Congressman and King County Sheriff who let the Green River killer off so he could kill again before he was finally incarcerated after murdering 49 women. Rethuglicans have the WORST candidates but the best marketing.

Susan Niemann's avatar

YES! They do have the best marketing. The DNC needs to hire a first rate ad agency to create more effective messaging!

David Skoglund's avatar

Jennifer Rubin is touting Ben Wikler the Wisconsin Democratic chair to be head of the DNC. Says he is a very good messenger.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

I agree! He is terrific. I would like to see NC’s Anderson Clayton recruited also. She is a young dynamo!

bluesyfish's avatar

Ferguson was a bad ass AG, suing the Trump admin many times and I was happy to see him run for gov. Threw a few dollars his way when I could. Very proud of the Democratic trifecta and triplex in WA, OR & CA. Even if the blue only covers the part of each state west of the Sierras and Cascades. Sad to see there's more R trifectas than D, but that's not surprising. Still, having D govs grouping together to stand up to The Dump is gratifying, FWIW. https://ballotpedia.org/State_government_triplexes

Hannah's avatar

Me too. We are very fortunate indeed.

Linda Fulcher's avatar

Congratulations, Oregon, for your trifecta. I am grateful for my senators Chris van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks, my governor Wes Moore, and my blue legislature. An island of sanity in the midst of American madness.

David Skoglund's avatar

Also, Jamie Raskin, who is a national treasure.

Linda Fulcher's avatar

Yes indeed. Unfortunately he's not my rep - Steny Hoyer is. I had to recruit a bunch of people to call Hoyer and beg him to vote no on HR 9495 the second time around after he actually voted for it. He's an old fool and I hope he retires and doesn't run in 2026.

Dana Jae Labrecque's avatar

Linda! Your last line is a keeper and I would like to use it in a song! “An island of sanity in the midst of American madness,” great song title too!

Linda Fulcher's avatar

Please feel free to use it however you wish. Glad you liked it. I just wish I lived in a sane country.

Dana Jae Labrecque's avatar

Same, Linda. Same. Crazy living ahead for us. Thankful for our tribe.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

Yes, Maryland has it going on!!

Mary Lou Williams's avatar

Keep vigilant as the bad guys start by running for school boards.

David Skoglund's avatar

Ann, I couldn’t agree more! Happy Thanksgiving!

Susan Niemann's avatar

Lucky you in Oregon!! Happy Thanksgiving, Ann!!

David Skoglund's avatar

I once heard a description of Portland Oregon as “a forest with a city in it”.

Ann Anderson's avatar

We got trees, that's for sure. ;-)

David Skoglund's avatar

Yes we do! And water too!🌲🌧️🌧️

Ole Anderson's avatar

But take care, a big swath of eastern Oregon wants to secede to Idaho. Might be better to let the MAGA Fools go

FTrump And FPutin Too's avatar

There’s more bighorn sheep than people “over there”. We’ll keep the wildlife. The few people there can move over there to be with their people.

Ann Anderson's avatar

Well aware. They can slam the door on their way out.

Debbie Mitchell's avatar

And we just voted DeRemer out as our representative. Yeah Janelle Bynum!

Ingrid Robertshaw's avatar

I amjust an average almost 90 year old woman. So proud of leaning LEFT, SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS, AWOWED ATHEIST,, CLEAR THINKING ..STILL...and so very grateful of being part of this community that is truly the only true BULWARK in this fight. Love to ALL FOR YOU OUT THERE !

FTrump And FPutin Too's avatar

Definitely Ingrid! Grateful you’re here!

Lauralite's avatar

Thanks Jeff, and may the missus continue to recover.

Cindy Watter's avatar

Happy Thanksgiving! I have a brand new grandson, so he’s keeping me sane. Have a good day, everyone!

Teri's avatar

Cindy, how exciting 🥰. Enjoy your new grandson.

MJ's avatar

Big Gretch has made it clear that she is not letting Michigan fall to the hateful rhetoric. Since Michigan's state governance turned completely blue there has been law after law to protect the basic civil rights of people and the right to choose and more. Whitmer's second & final term of office ends in 2026 and I hope the state does not fall back into R hands again. The state has come so far.

Mary Vandemark's avatar

Yes it has! I love Big Gretch!

Kay-El's avatar

We here at the House of Kay-El celebrate believing in science, democracy, a living wage, health care for all and not living in a dictatorship. Can’t do much about that last one except to resist by every means possible. Don’t forget to sharpen your battle swords as the war on Christmas is just around the corner.

Susan Niemann's avatar

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

FTrump And FPutin Too's avatar

We can look forward to Melanoma’s holiday decorations next year. Womp, womp.

Kerry Truchero's avatar

I'm thankful for the most refreshing Schadenfreude bubble bath I've taken in years, courtesy of America's Mayor! Listening to Rudy's tale of woe was like a spoonful of honey, a drizzle of oxytocin, a bowl of kush. Muchas gracias!

Ole Anderson's avatar

And his good buddy Donnie Two Scoops let’s him just twist slowly in the wind with no helping hand offered.

shee-rah's avatar

Donny’s a fair weather guy. If you’re in trouble, don’t look to him to bail you out.

Kim Nesvig's avatar

Thankful for the many not-crazy people here.

Btw, trumps fear and intimidation tactics are the staples of a bully. And if history is any indication his ‘negotiations’ always begin with threats and end with capitulation. Stand firm, my friends!

Carl Babcock's avatar

I am thankful for you, Jeff, and those like you who continue to stand up to the fascists who want to tear down our country. I am thankful for my friends, my dogs, and that I live in a very blue area of a very red state. Sometimes being a caring, loving person is lonely

Kathleen Weber's avatar

💐💐💐💐💐Welcome home Ms Spouse! You are the love of 🎸🎸Jeff Tieidrich's 🎸🎸life. I personally stand in awe of you! Get all the way better soon!💐💐💐💐💐

PEACE, LOVE, RESIST's avatar

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m so grateful for these daily posts. Most days they validate how I’m feeling and there’s nothing better than that in these dark and crazy times.

Richard's avatar

Thank you for bringing the Truth, with jokes.

PrincessKrapotkin's avatar

Back at you with the Happy Thanksgiving. I’m grateful to be sharing a meal with my Prince, in beautiful Bodega Bay, California. I’ve successfully avoided my magga daughter’s dinner, and for that I’m thankful (sorry about that granddaughters). And I think I’ve finally found the peace of mind I’ve been seeking since November 5. I’ve been emotionally tied in knots and stressed to the point of illness. You make me feel better. Thank you, Jeff.
