Three Victories and One Oops.

Three times now Joe Biden has saved the nation from the jaws of death: vaccinating the nation, he loosed the grip of the plague on all of us. After the attempted coup by the lead terrorist, Mr. Biden brought forth justice, locking up hundreds of the would-be overthrowers, easing our minds about the loss of democracy. Finally, Joltin' Joe knocked out Silly Kevin "15 Rounds" McCarthy, a lunatic pushing the nation to the brink of economic apocalypse.

And what does the media focus on? Mr. Biden tripping over a sandbag left recklessly on the stage. A sandbag that anyone would have fallen over. Instead, the MSM uses it once again to remind us that Joe is 80, and they tell us 'he may not be able....'

Give me a break: Joe Biden can kick any Republican's ass any day of the week, even while stumbling over a sandbag.

But here's the real story: instead of focusing on him falling, the media NEVER reported how quickly he got back up, how he didn't break anything, how he didn't have to take the weekend off 'golfing' to recuperate.

Joe Biden has done more in his short time in office to save this nation, to redirect its future, than any other president in my lifetime. He does it while stuttering and stumbling at times, and I just love him for it, because Joe Biden is something Republicans will never be:

HUMAN.

I’ve followed and admired Joe Biden for as long as I can remember. He does the right best thing because it’s integral, it’s him, he can’t be any other way, and in his address from the oval he thanked those he had just hours before battled it out with. That’s the kind of man, the kind of president he is.

The key is to vote. We need the House.

The key is to get others to vote with you. One vote is not enough; we need more voters in areas where we can win--not in Florida or Texas, where the GOP has already rigged elections.

We need to focus our time, energy, and money on promoting voting for Democrats in those districts that we can win.

Writing about what we must do is only a part: we must all work to register new voters in those places in order to take back the House, grow the Senate, and keep Joe Biden in office.

While I agree with the sentiment, I don’t think we should totally write off FL or TX. I personally know fine Democrats in those states (and they have some great Congress people) that work like crazy to change things.

Tell that to Val Demings and Beto O'Rourke, both of whom got swamped by the GOP last year.

Despite them both being the much better candidate.

True, but they weren’t the first and won’t be the last.

Not enough. The Democrats need to be weaned from the corporate teat and restored to looking after the people.

Never, ever, never under estimate Joe Biden. There is a reason Obama would send Joe up to the Capitol to help negotiate. There is a reason he held his Senate seat so long. He is smarter than he lets you believe. He works harder than you think. This was the plan all along while he was supposedly "refusing to negotiate."

The entire "debt-ceiling season" I'm thinking about our bond ratings (and more of our $$ going to servicing debt and bloating it), how our allies and economic partners see this unnecessary and lunatic brinksmanship (and that they may be making decisions already based on this annual clusterfuck), how if we tanked the world economy it would never EVER be forgotten by any of the 8 billion living with us. Oh, and: the unconscionable causing of avoidable pain and suffering.

Exactly. I've never understood why democrats can't or won't use some plays from the Repubs book. I get the whole integrity thing, but when (at times) it's literally a matter of life and death, I think the ends can justify the means.

How many times do you have to be hit in the head with a bat before you grab it?

So, we should start acting like Republicans?

Should we storm the Capitol if we lose?

Never become what you are trying to defeat.

Yes, the debt ceiling needs to be eliminated. The current situation is so dysfunctional and unhealthy and dumb and a bunch of performative nonsense to boot.

Radical Liberal's avatar

Before we can 'eliminate' craziness like the debt ceiling or gerrymandering, we must rid ourselves or those who keep the craziness in play: Republicans.

We all know what the solution is.

Reverse the Reagan, Bush, and Trump tax cuts.

Cut military spending by 50%.

Yes and if we are going to do that we need a "Super Majority". Keep the focus on that!

Me, I say we try this authoritarian outlook the Republicans like so much long enough to drive all those crazy sheep fuckers into the sea, then we can go back to having democracy between Democrats and an actual progressive party.

That's how compromise works according to them, right?

We need Congressional majority along a Democratic president. There is much that can be done for our country and for the average American. Eliminate the debt ceiling because it's useless. Stop unfair gerrymandering. It should not be either party drawing voting maps. Get rid of lobbyists. The politicians vote the way companies want them to in exchange for hefty political contributions. Just look at the power the NRA has/had. Money corrupts. Some of our "representatives" are not representing us at all. These are things I think about. I realize the problems are complex and I'm idealistic. But common sense works, too.

You and I share some of the same ideas. I invite you to read the piece I wrote on Government Reform this week:

I agree with all of your ideas. In my opinion, the government should work FOR the people. People shouldn't go into public office expecting to get rich. The govt should help the less fortunate and stop giving the uber-rich tax breaks. Let them pay their fair share. It just all feels so wrong, somehow.

Our dear Joe is still abiding by the genteel rules of civility that he has maintained throughout his career as a politician and it has been working for him. BUT, democrats need to throw more weight around, draw more attention to what we stand for and how we are protecting this nation. The F*cking media is completely useless chasing after every bullshit performative lie, wasting our time and attention and giving credence to manufactured slime. It’s beyond the time where Democrats need to show their steely backbones and not use a hanky to fight fire.

We can see how bending over in the face of utter degradation becomes a pit of quicksand. Had a unified percentage of the GOP banded together, at any point in the last 8 years, to deny their orange frankenstein, they would have rid themselves of him and the lemmings would have had to deal with it. Too afraid of the monster they created and his followers, they’ve shit themselves into utter psychosis.

I'm struggling to hold out hope. Dems have a history of sitting back and letting Supreme Court precedent cover for a lack of actual constitutional amendments. Just ask any woman.

I don't think we will have much going on if the Republicans take the Congress or the White House. It won't matter whether or not we have a debt ceiling because the budgets that will be passed with be, A+ for the super wealthy and F for everyone else. We will rack up debt and not get anything for it. That is the Republican way.

I think Joe Biden is learning to play his cards close to his sleeve and that got everyone upset. Will he use the 14th Amendment or won't he. I was satisfied just knowing what the options were, which I think Paul Krugman helped me to understand. I think that it is important to play one's cards close to one's sleeves when dealing with Fascists. Putin is one, and so are the MAGAts. So, I can accept ambiguity knowing that I don't need to know everything. The fact that the threat was there was perhaps more effective than saying, "I won't do this." I think you have a lot of points to make, but I don't think subtlety is your strong point. I think it is one of Biden's so he should be him, and you be you!

Hell, it is not going to take until 2025 getting the 2024 federal budget passed through Congress will likely be the next target of the extortion gang in the House. Everyone who thinks Repub extortion is over until 2025 think again. While Joe did a good job to keep the US economy from going into a doomsday scenario the extortion gang just began their reign of terror holding Joe hostage whenever the opportunity present itself. Mark my words this will be a bumpy rollercoaster ride until the 2024 election. Could be interesting seeing Repubs vote for a man in prison for President. Providing a few Repub fiefdoms don't just steal the election to give Repubs control of the Presidency and Congress our democracy may be saved for a while, how long is anybody's guess. I have said for years that I never underestimate the stupidity of the American public.
