this is my third Memorial Day post, and at 2,263 words, it's my longest post to date. but atrocities just keep piling up. imagine how long next year's Mem Day post will be

Jodi Richard's avatar

Perhaps next year your headline will be about the passing of the 🍊💩👜 and the fallout from that glorious occasion. One can hope!

Gayna's avatar

I’m praying to any god that will hear me and I don’t give a shit how he goes.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Personally, I would like to see him in prison first.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Me too. But at this point, and considering his age, I'll take what we can get. Just be gone.

Dave Drell's avatar

Personally, I just think of a certain Led Zeppelin song (#3) what I want his departure to be.

John McGrath's avatar

I used to love that song, then Jan. 6 happened, when there was a real one on the steps of the Capitol.

Dave Drell's avatar

Any other country would have

given him the proper treatment for what he did that day… but not this country!

Stephen Brady's avatar

Well, I would hope it is both painful and humiliating... if he were to slip in the overflow from his depends and go face-first down the flight stairs of AF 1, I would be well pleased!

DJ Headthrob's avatar

I'd like to see him blown-out of the window like his porcine role model, Auric Goldfinger.

HI2thDoc's avatar

It would haveta be an oversized window

I’ve been saying this at home- paralyzed from the nose down- can’t talk, can’t tweet, can’t do his business in the bathroom- all his care staff are women with a grudge …. That’s all‼️

Anne Diamond's avatar

you must have read my mind!

BluDotInARedSewer's avatar

Spanish speaking women with a grudge but also blond, fake-boobed and with the hallowed mar a loser face. That would really confuse him.

Victoria Wilson's avatar

It is my daily prayer and I too do not care how it happens just that it does.

PJ Schuster's avatar

I really don’t want him to be assassinated, because the maga nuts will then blame it on a Democrat, make him a martyr to their “holy” cause, & then start killing us all.

I’d prefer he stroke out in front of a large crowd, & on camera

Bobbi Scritchfield's avatar

Have you noticed how often his lips droop on one side? Many photos show it. It's a sign of stroke. And probably why he gets to take cognitive tests.

PJ Schuster's avatar

Oh yes, absolutely 💯 As a retired ICU/ER nurse I noticed it long ago. Also he wide swings one leg when he walks

Cathy Rady's avatar

Choking on a hamburger or drowning in his own vomit would also be noteworthy. . . ideally it would be posted on YouTube.

BluDotInARedSewer's avatar

I want to see it happen. Just to be sure it’s for realzies.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Stroked out on top of his golden commode

Donna's avatar

I used to feel that way....but as time has gone on, I have grown more greedy for the most gruesome end possible.

BluDotInARedSewer's avatar

Bleeding out from all orafices would suit me fine. On camera. I’ll deal with the ptsd later. It’s worth it.

Tonya Browning's avatar

Just go! Right? My dad was born 5 months before Trump. My dad died when he was 60, & this POOS gets to keep on going & going. My dad was a good, loving man though he had his faults like we all do. I’ve come to this believe over the last 10 years, God doesn’t want Trump any more than we do. My dad’s last & 3rd wife just turned 70, outliving him so far by 10 years. God doesn’t want her either!

rlritt's avatar

And I bet that respectful soldiers will be there in his honor and not one will spit on his grave.

Susan P Thatcher's avatar

As for the rest of us....I predict a run on Big Gulps before visiting.

I appreciate that 8 of those words were this:

fuck you, Donald Trump. you piece of shit.

Oh, and at the West Point graduation — in the pouring rain of which the grads had to sit in uncovered — Piss Drunk Pete stood under a covering and gave a ChatGPT speech crediting Charlie Mother Fucking Egg Head Kirk with the the quote:

This too shall pass.

Fucks sake…

Oof, really? Is this the same speech where Hagueseth said “you can’t throw pronouns at the enemy”?

Jeff, not only are the worthless scribblers of the MSM unable to ever ask "What the fuck is wrong with you?" of our "Commander in Chief," they refuse to tally any of what those POS in Congress and his administration actually do against our veterans. But you do. Thank you for your service!

Love the family photos! Thanks for sharing.

Dammit. Why didn’t I know that? Now, I, too, am spitting fire. How dare those fuckin’ sons of fuckin’ bitches! Arrrrgh!

Margaret's avatar

I'm with you, Pam. I'm guessing that we didn't know about it because they tried to sneak it past us, as usual. I remember hearing about one black woman who was delisted. That's all. Any ideas about what we should do? I wish we could get about a thousand women there to highlight WTF they're doing to us.

If we're all lucky it will be a 2,263 word synopsis of the late president's greatest Memorial Day hits.

Frank Nuts's avatar

Thank you for this post Jeff. Thank you for giving our soldiers the respect they deserve. Republicans always “speak” a good line for our soldiers but won’t “do”shit for them. What a bunch of worthless bottom feeders. They wouldn’t know what service is or gratitude if it hit them in the face (or nuts).

And again I call for a law that says if you think it’s important enough to send our troops to war then you should be leading the charge. If you’re willing to send our soldiers to war to fight to make the oil companies rich then you should put on a uniform and have at it. And if you’re lucky enough to make it back from the war but are physically and/or psychologically damaged then you can see what it’s like to try to get help for your injuries.

And for the ungrateful republican politicians that believe they are too valuable to our country to send to war I say you’re not. You’re a dime a dozen. There’s a thousand others willing to stand in line for the military industrial complex’s handouts — no experience necessary — just a willingness to accept bribes and perks.

Rattling sabres has always been a qualification for a republican politician and it can continue to be as long as you’re willing to put on a uniform and strap on a gun. You like guns so it shouldn’t be that hard. Of course it will be crickets from you when you’re asked to march off to a war that you support.

The mantra for republicans has always been: “we rattle sabres for boogie men”. At first the boogie men were blacks (different party name same assholes). Next it was those dastardly “commies”. They beat that drum to death decades after there were no communists (they still bring the commie thing back on occasion for the old timers). Next it was the terrorists (not the neonazi racist white supremacists — they get a pass…because of votes… and “reasons”).

Look out, look out — the wheels have come off the boogie man truck — now there’s a new boogie man every day — “it’s the Greenlanders, it’s the Venezuelans, it’s the Cubans, it’s the Iranians, it’s the trans people, it’s the gays (except Lindsey), it’s the democrats, it’s the immigrants. It’s always something isn’t it.

It’s copy and paste. Republican strategy: “boogie man bad. Kill boogie man”. Do you think we’ll ever catch on? Not likely.

If you’re so gung ho on killing and being killed then step on up —join the army — what, “no” you say… right… I didn’t think so.

Wars are only necessary in order to stop fascist regimes from expanding outside their border — like for instance if they wanted to invade Greenland and Cuba and Canada and Mexico and South America. Of course what idiot would contemplate that?

Colonel Nutcracker Hegseth, since you’re so keen on blowing things up and killing people (including our own soldiers) then go ahead and jump on your skateboard (with the all terrain wheels) and ride off into the sunset leading the charge; but, just a suggestion here — don’t go doing that flippy thing with the skateboard… it could be hazardous to your health.

Scratch that last suggestion — go ahead and do it — I know you’ll get it right if you keep practicing. Of course, the veterans’ hospitals may not agree to treat your injuries.

Naturally, you’ll have to wait in line (for months). And after waiting for months and finally making it to the front of the line you’ll be informed that they don’t treat self inflicted nut cracker injuries. Boo Hoo.

Bollocks, I’ve worked myself into a frenzy with nowhere to go. Time to shut the fuck up as my wife likes to say. This started out as a short two sentence thank you to Jeff and then the wheels came off. The insanity of how the republican racists operate just sends me into fits of rage and I lose my shit. I apologize. I think Lewis Black is a distant relative of mine (not) so that’s my excuse.

Pam Humphrey's avatar

I love this righteous rant! (Especially the Lindsey comment. That made me chuckle.) You said everything this time. Thanks!

Happy Memorial Day from this sucker and loser that relies heavily on the VA.

If you are enraged at all the BS Donnie and his Merry Band of Morons are putting us veterans through, please consider donating to your local VFW or American Legion. They fight for our rights and lobby for legislation.

Happy Memorial Day. Much Love!

Mike Hammer's avatar

I was a VA physician and you guys certainly have it rough. It’s always “supposed” to get better. We salute you and thank you for your service.

Unity In Defiance's avatar

Thank you Mike. And thank you for all you did for those of us that use the VA.

So many of us vets wish we could “get better” and this administration wants us all to STFU already and just die.

Sometimes there just aren’t enough fucks to shout into the void.

Leigh Hamilton's avatar

To be fair, he wants the elderly to STFU and just die, along with children, the poor, anyone in a "shithole" country...

They eat deaths for breakfast and the deaths they cause themselves for lunch.

My husband is a veteran. He never saw combat but he was ready.

HI2thDoc's avatar

All who served gave something. My dad was a WWII draftee who shipped to Europe. They made him a clerk because he knew how to type, or I may not be here today. But he did his job and was part of the OG Antifa. He is laid to rest in a veteran's cemetery and I am proud of his service.

Leigh Hamilton's avatar

I lost my Grandfather and two Great Uncles in WWII. Fighter pilots. Obviously I never met them, but my mother and Grandmother never stopped missing them. My stepfather lost both his legs six inches below his knees in Korea. The VA, back them, never let him down, and he was compensated for his injuries for life. Wonder who Trump lost in the wars...

Jane's avatar

Dr Mike thanks for your past work at the VA. I was an RN at the VA also.

UID, I salute you. My hubs is a Vietnam vet, 68-69, so I know of your sacrifices and truths. He too, is getting the benefit of some healthcare from the VA. I just hate that that Doug Collins is the one in charge of everything. He was a Zero in Congress and is presently, a fat ZERO at the VA.

David Selditz's avatar

Marlene, Doug Collins is a revolting Christo-fascist "pastor" who has no business navigating the VA. The plan is to privatize the entire VA system which I believe is untenable. I hope Mr. Spouse is well.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

I don't agree that repubs actively "hate" our veterans. I believe most of them simply don't give a shit and trump said the quiet part out load when he called them "losers" and "suckers". Most repubs (and some dems) don't give a fuck about any of their constituents.

LORI D's avatar

You are absolutely correct. Most of them just do not care at all about people especially those who they think are on the public dole. They have even convinced the masses that Social Security comes wholly from tax dollars. They may not actively hate us personally, but most in power in that party, hold us all in contempt. That an entire party allows its leaders to name-call, disparage, mock, and humiliate it's citizens for any reason, is despicable. That people continue to vote for the likes of Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis, and Lauren Boebert is WORSE. There is no place in a democracy for promoting hatred with corporate money. It's vile. Every citizen should be appalled at their self-serving behavior. It has harmed all of us. It's not new. It has gone on for decades. It's just out loud now. All the people who for some reason did not notice this for 50 years, better wake up and start paying attention! Look at their voting record history.

Irascible Ink's avatar

Denise Donaldson's avatar

OUTSTANDING, Irascible!

Pam Humphrey's avatar

Piggy McPuddingcup?!? I loooove it.

Ralph Roberts's avatar

As Jeff likes to refer to my despicable Congresswoman Lauren Boebert as Handy Oakley. She has her nose so far up Trump’s ass that she couldn’t give a damn when he shitcanned a bipartisan pipeline project to bring safe drinking water to her constituents in the 4th Congressional District of Colorado.

She is an embarrassment to everyone in the state.

Nancy Braus's avatar

Lauren Boebert, Lindsay Graham and the other sycophants all could be represented by the awesome portrayal of Pam Bondi in South Park- always with a brown nose from sticking up Dear Leader's posterior. In South Park, people are always telling her "you've got some shit on your nose, Pam." She rubs it off and it magically appears seconds later. Genius!

barb's avatar

My condolences regarding Boebert. I live in Boulder County and am grateful to have Joe Neguse as our representative. However i've been enraged over our DINO governor, Jared Fetterman, commuting Tina Peter's sentence. I can't wait until he's out of office.

john augustine's avatar

nah....they hate them as evidenced by their actions!

Joyce's avatar

I agree--but I also do think that, when any Rethug's attention is drawn to an actual veteran or any other constituent, their hate does then infuse their basic not giving a fuck attitudes.

P123Sunny's avatar

I just don’t get it… Rs dined out for what NINE YEARS on ‘Benghazi’ casualties(4?) - yet radio silence on those 4 Niger deaths… and 13 dead in I ran (that has never been updated). Just don’t get how there is NO fight/pushback from the supposed opposition party. Must have missed a memo somewhere- !

Miselle's avatar

I constantly compare any--ANY---random action out of Trump and ask "what if BIDEN or ANY OTHER POTUS had done that?!?"

Why this turd of a man has constantly gotten away with what he does is a very sad reflection on our society.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I know. I say that constantly. The most blatant example, of course, is how the media ended Joe Biden with its baseless speculation about his "cognitive decline," based on one tired debate performance (listen to any speech he's given in the last year to see how baseless this pile-on was). Yet almost every day we hear Trump spewing incoherent, spiteful, ill-tempered nonsense, and at best we get an occasional, very gentle piece, wondering if maybe he's got something going on.

rlritt's avatar

The media is 90% owned by a right wing conglomerate. We will never hear good things about Democrats or bad things of Trump and MAGA. They have accomplished what they wanted, nearly erasing any political opposition.

Joyce's avatar

Exactly--the Democrats are doing and saying whatever they can about this shitcan administration.....but the mainstream media barely covers that. Thereby causing people to believe that the Democrats "aren't doing anything."

Pam Humphrey's avatar

Isn’t that why we’re all here? Independent journalism is alive and well…and really pissed off.

rlritt's avatar

More people need to read it.

P123Sunny's avatar

Don’t think they actually do anything ‘randomly’… they just have the perfect bread & circus distraction machine out front. Sadly

From yesterday:

What non-MAGA Americans can see

Drumpf's blustering tweets

rlritt's avatar

Here it is : War Powers Push: Led by Senators like Tim Kaine, Democratic lawmakers are actively pushing War Powers Resolutions to force the President to seek congressional authorization to continue the war in Iran.Budget and Troop Safety: Democratic veterans emphasize their refusal to write "blank checks" for the war, arguing that the administration lacks a clear endgame or strategy to protect American troops. They argue that avoiding "forever wars" is the best way to honor veterans.

rlritt's avatar

The reason you dont see it is because the corporste media wont write anything about what Democrats say or do. "Approximately 90% of U.S. media is controlled by a handful of mega-conglomerates: Comcast, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Sony, and News Corp. When including tech and digital platforms, the landscape is increasingly dominated by a select group of billionaires (such as the Ellisons, Murdochs, and Mark Zuckerberg)."

Weak Dem leadership - we need to can Schummer and light a fire under Hakeem Jefferies or replace him with AOC whichever works. Mr. Global did a recent piece which outlines this perfectly.

PJ Schuster's avatar

I want AOC to start building a war chest right now to get ready to run against Chuck Schumer in 2028. Imagine what a powerful senator she could be!!!! Let’s all encourage her to do that.

Nancy Braus's avatar

Jeffries is as useless as Schumer. Check out Jeffries regarding the criminal, most right wing Democrat in the House, anti-choice pro gun Henry Cuellar. Trump pardoned him regarding the financial crimes he committed and then Jeffries claimed it was the perfect outcome and endorsed him for 2026. Yuk.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

Apparently, Fuckwit is bragging that there were "only" 13 killed in Iran (so far). There is no bottom.

DebJS's avatar

Since he always lies and exaggerates, that is likely only a fraction of the true number.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

While I couldn't agree more about his utter lack of truthfulness, that number was counted up one by one by news reports. He's just echoing it. Of course, the Pentagon also has every reason to lie. I haven't seen any independent contradicting reports, though.

David M Marko's avatar

The reason we have to have a trillion plus dollar standing military where we have a holiday to salute our veterans and memorialize our fallen heroes really boils down to man's inhumanity to man. Which is, sadly, the embodiment of this administration.

Ann Anderson's avatar

To quote some random guy on YouTube, fuck these motherfucking chickenhawks who got us into war and don't give a crap that their constituents can't pay for food or gas.

Good pics of Claudia but the photo I enjoyed the most is the one showing clear signs of the Dipshit's congestive heart failure. That swollen neck... oy gevalt.

Mingo's avatar

I'm beginning to think Dipshit needs a heart valve procedure. That maybe why there are more frequent dental exams. Either way, why is he still here!!! Yesterday I packed my dog in the car and drove to my dad's grave to place a flag since he was a WW2 vet. I apologized to Dad for the shit show in the White House even though I didn't vote for any of this.

Ann Anderson's avatar

Lots of speculation about those "dental" exams. For one thing, there's a complete dental suite in the White House, so why the trips to Walter Reed? I just want him gone. My dad was a WWII vet, too. Have a meaningful Memorial Day.

Joyce's avatar

It would be utterly appropriate for Donnie Demento to cark it as he tries to lift the Memorial wreath into place today.....Of course, that's if he shows up--it is raining on the East Coast today, and he wouldn't want that tangle of shit on his head to melt.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Bets on that he'll rave about the Arch de Trump planned for the bridge leading to Arlington National Cemetery. I heard the design has soared in height to loom taller than the Lincoln Memorial by 200+ feet. This is dying empire stuff.

Joyce's avatar

Let's hope it's dying emperor stuff instead.

PJ Schuster's avatar

Yes, it is, & what’s even more telling is his almost panick mode push for the “ballroom.” It was NEVER just a ballroom. It has always been about the huge, top of the line bunker/data center & surveillance center, that’s 9 stories deep underground, under that POS ballroom. The fuckwit is becoming more & more paranoid every day, because he knows how much he is despised. He has absolutely no intention of leaving there in Jan 2029; that is IF he’s still alive by then. If anyone reading this hasn’t already watched the vids of The Drey Dossier starting shortly after he destroyed the East Wing, she had it pegged way back then, & has the research.

DebJS's avatar

That would've been fitting all right.

cark = croak?

Joyce's avatar

Yes--a lovely gift of slang from the Australians.

Mingo's avatar

There's not a cardiac cath lab in the White House.

Susan Slesnick's avatar

My dad was a veteran of WWII as well. He was in memory care and thankfully he received VA benefits to help cover the cost of his care. While in care he received a letter signed by the asshat thanking him for his service. My dad immediately told me to rip up the letter because Trump was a draft dodger. My dad couldn’t remember where he was but knew he didn’t like Trump.

J Hardy Carroll's avatar

Nowhere is GOP “support the troops” bullshit more hollow than in how they feed young Americans into badly conceived wars and then abandon them on the back end. We saw it in Iraq. Watch Generation Kill and you’ll get a sense of how criminally underplanned that invasion was, how Marines rolled in without armor, intel, or basic logistical cover, while the same crowd that sent them there now blocks health care for burn pit cancers and guts the VA to the studs.

And that was the war they WANTED. The one they didn't want in Afghanistan was criminally undermanned and undersupplied. Jake Tapper wrote extensively about this back when he used to be a journalist and published a book about how fucked that war was from the start. You remember, the war that lasted twenty years that Trump set up to fail before he left office last time?

In the wake of World War II, and even after the catastrophe of Vietnam, there was a GI Bill worthy of the name and a semi-functional VA that, however imperfectly, recognized lifelong obligations to those it had fed into the shredder. I guess treating PTSD is 'woke."

But now the party “we love our veterans” cheers when benefits are slashed, shrugs at weeks-long hold music on VA crisis lines, and rallies behind a draft-dodging president who calls the wounded “losers” and can’t be bothered to stand in the rain at a cemetery in France. The so-called "war department" is headed by a drunken disgraced guardie major who acts like a cross between Nick Fury and Herr Starr, refusing to back down from his shouty incoherent rants. He's the poster boy for fragging.

As with everything from this shoddy crew, cruel hypocrisy is the point. These soldiers, sailors, Marines, and aircrew are background props for campaign ads and angry Memorial Day shitposts. They are disposable once the photo op is over and the body comes home. They serve the same function as the animals at a rodeo.

Seriously, fuck these traitorous shit weasels. Fuck them forever.

rlritt's avatar

Sadly, you couldnt be more right. Military operations seem more like political theater that the politicians use to distract from what they are doing to help corporate owners. Politicians should have to wear corporate patches on their suits like athletes so we know who is supporting them.

J Hardy Carroll's avatar

Private equity makes even that impossible. The same handful of people own pretty much everything. Get gas at BP, shop at Safeway, use your phone, order Amazon, eat at Chipotle, go to the office… the money goes into the same anonymous pockets.

The depraved predator's worst impulses

His spineless bootlickers empowered

To hide his Epstein connection

But the rest of the world has soured

On wanton killing and destruction for profit

By that tough-talking draft-dodging coward

To think war is a worthwhile thing

Is for insecure, immature pricks

They will be held to account for their crimes

As each damning, irrefutable charge sticks

Daily we are reminded that the republicans are in office for themselves, not for the people that voted them in. It always amazes me when I see the way they vote against bills to help veterans. My 89 year old husband just left to go work at his American Legions chicken barbecue. They do it to raise money to help the veterans that need things that our government does not give them. We are the lucky ones, we don’t need the Veterans Administration help, but there are many that do, and deserve it. My dad was wounded in Korea, he never went to the veterans hospital because he had health insurance. He said why take up their time when there were so many that didn’t have insurance. We feel the same way. I hope you have a good Memorial Day. As always the pictures are great. Cape Cod is my favorite place to be.

Same for my husband after arriving home during the Vietnam War. He had good benefits from his job and knew many didn’t so he never used his VA benefits. He was ashamed how he was treated by fellow Americans then. He died Memorial Day in 2022 after suffering eight years from complications from Pharyngeal Cancer Surgery and treatments. He was feeding tube and Oxygen dependent. We watched Jan 6 together and he was ashamed once again of his fellow Americans. He suffered from PTSD for years until he underwent psychiatric treatment on his own dime. Insurance paid shit for psychiatric health back then, probably still does!

It will never cease to astonish me that so many Republicans, who always love to embrace things they see as macho, such as police and military, can sit there like zombies and accept Trump's blatant contempt for those who serve (and for that matter, the police, given his embrace of the January 6 police-attackers) and act like he is heroic. Once upon a time, any one of those things he said would've ended him. It's a clear indication of how the standards have changed — but only for one man. It makes me want to puke.

Thank you, Jeff! Surely one of your best! (Stop calling me Shirley.) The title of "white supremacy's middle manager" for Scalise just made my day! So many could and should qualify. In honor of those departed and still here, we shall overcome.

Wonderful photos...seeing them reminds me there is a love n the world.

Suggestion for tomorrow. The reaction of CBS to Stephen Colbert hosting a public access TV show in Monroe, Michigan. The audacity is breathtaking. Fuck the Ellisons.
