I truly hate them all, and I'm not sorry about it either, and even though hate is not healthy it's the only option at this point.

I was just thinking the same thing, I HATE THEM. It's much more than dislike. And it enrages me that people believe them and vote for them. I'm not a drinker, but maybe I need to start until Nov. 5. Just utter hypocrites. Even when they screw over people, those same people continue to vote for them or keep them in power. My sympathy bank for them is at zero.

Better than drinking- gummies. They make you calm and happy.

Expand full comment
D Kitterman's avatar

Yes to gummies!

But understand the two basic (generally) types:

INDICA, pleasant, relaxing mind and body effects, and helps with sleep.

SATIVA, more alertness, slightly UP buzz effect, more stimulated bodily and mental effect. Not necessarily helpful for sleep.

Try both to see what type works best for you, start with low dosages (i.e. 5 or 10 mgs.) and don't be driving around stoned.

I remember the difference between them by thinking of Indica as "in da couch,"

Expand full comment

I used to always get it wrong because I thought of Sativa as "satisfied." My man Dan Dan the Suitcase Man would always tell me which was which so I didn't get all artsy and wild at night. That's what saved me. But I haven't had any in 13 years bc I was one of the unfortunate few who was physically addicted to it. SUCKS. Maybe now that I have my anxiety under control I could try again. Hmm. It's weird how "kids today" go for the gummies instead of the bong or the Volcano. God I'm old. Gummies are much better for your lungs, though!

Ok how I agree ....Froot cherry gummies . (Sativa) 1/2 at 7:30 pm and you'll sleep thru a hurricane ....or 1/2 orange (indica) and you'll laugh at your repub neighbors . I'm over 72 and this will make your life so much happier

Question, tho,

If one takes both a 1/2 a indica and 1/2 a sativa is the feeling somewhere in the middle of dozing off and alertness? cause thats where I wanna be

They'll work fine but if you haven't taken them before just try a quarter and a quarter.

Indica is blood pressure upper

Sativa a blood pressure lowerer . The thing is these are so dang good don't get loaded and eat more . I did 3 sativa's and felt really really wasted and fell asleep . Know NDA waste of a good high .

I take sativa for sleeping .

Indica for a good sparkly day high . There $12.00 for 10 ..and that's about a weeks worth fo two people so not bad . But froots the best so far . The Cherry's the bomb 😍

So many permutations and possibilities...try them all! Just remember that taking them in an empty stomach means you'll feel it relatively quickly (within 20 mins to 1/2 hour. On a full stomach, might take an hour or two or more. Don't take another dose or it could become too much! Pay attention to your own safety and that if others.

There are online dispensaries that offer just extracts, too, in oil and/or "isolate" form... it's less expensive (and you can make brownies or tea or melt chocolate to mix with it.) They also have frequent sales, if you keep an eye out...

The local places I've been to in the Austin area are more expensive -- the only thing I buy locally is the odd 4-pack of canned drinks from the liquor store (for a little buzziness, about the same as a beer, which is mostly off my list now, unfortunately!) None of it is cheap, but some are better-priced than others... and all of it is less expensive than the prescription meds I take, even with insurance and GoodRX discounts thrown in...

The first hemp gummies I tried were from Cheech & Chong, I kid you not! They were def not the best or reasonably priced, but it was kind of fun... although I was halfway expecting it to be delivered by a guy named Dave, pounding on the door and saying, "Open up! I've got the stuff..." lol

I saw a bit higher in the comments that it was the case with indica (raises blood pressure, anyway) but not sativa. Which seems backwards to me, but I've been outta the game so long I don't know.

Back when I smoked (tobacco, ewww. 5 years clean January 17 2020) I went to the 420 F Street dispensary for vape "juice." It was totally surreal seeing people walk up to the counter, point at the one they wanted, say how much. Then show their ID proving they were 21 or older and get a brown paper bag they could just walk out with.

I'm thinking more and more I should try a gummy. I have *slightly* elevated BP -but only at the doctor's office, or when I'm having a panic attack.

Julie, I don’t know whether gummies would help you. The only way to know is to see your doctor so he can advise you. Start by taking a deep breath through your nose and exhale through your mouth. It’s a great technique when you’re feeling out of sorts. Try it, it can’t hurt you.

Mike Johnson is running unopposed. Ron DeSantis won because only 54% of Democrats showed up to vote. This is what happens when Democrats don't get the support they need.

Expand full comment
Stephen Brady's avatar

It is also what happens when Dems get dispirited because of gerrymandering and don't see any point in voting. For many of them it crosses over to the statewide and national races. It is not a shortage of democratic leaning voters - it just that they seldom see any point in voting. I lived there. I was one of 3 registered Democrats at the end of my street who were cut off and attached to a purely rethuglican district.

This is Project 2025 Playbook 101. FEMA is supposed to not help with anything other than natural disasters, so no other types of help, and at most 25% should come from the Federal government, the rest from the communities suffering the disaster. So R DeSatan and AP Luna[tic] are doing their Trump job interview of turning down the help for their people of Florida, by destroying the state in which they live. There is just no end to the sucking up of the MAGA cult to their demented leader.
