Do NOT stop writing about what prompts your brain, Jeff - it means it NEEDS to be told and you are exactly whom WE need to tell it so we can survive this (and let out at least a modicum of our rage at this historical destruction of OUR HOUSE). Some rando magat on Instagram tried to claim I was 'brought onto' Aaron Parnas' feed - I was quite pleased they thought so highly of my comments, LOL. Several magats decided the orange POS was: being 'sarcastic'; being 'funny' but WE 'can't take a joke'! Folks, you’re just gonna have to get a grip and become more stoical about these outrages.

Because you can believe that they will keep on coming. He is really going off the rails and is pushing the already stretched thin envelope of things designed to piss us off and drive us crazy. He has no limits anymore and subsequent events will be designed specifically for how much shrill reaction he can get. It’s ‘own the Libs’ on steroids coming just around the bend.

Yet we must not wear our hearts on our sleeves. We should start practicing silence when the next outrage comes. That will drive him crazier than the most erudite rebuttal of the heinous deed of the day, Silence.

Can you just imagine his utter bewilderment !?!

It might cross his wires to the point of a real mental blow out.

Need to try something new I’m thinking 🤔

Ole, I must disagree. Dump demolishing the People’s House, the crown jewel of our seat of government, is the last straw. We have every right to express our outrage, as loudly as we want. absolutely, but (as I just wrote) IF we can take away his fucking 'ballroom' funds - somewhere there ARE the original plans and architectural drawings for the White House where it could be replicated IF someone at least saved the historical furnishings. I still suspect his aim is to destroy the entire WH. Let's see if I've had a flash of what my sister used to call my 'witchy thing'- or not. It just hit me yesterday that it could very well have been his entire idea all along - after seeing the Palaces in Qattar and Saudi Arabia, Egypt. He CRAVES their gaudy, gold everything. OUR White House is too 'old, classic' and not palatial enough for this wanna-be king.

Those beautiful Georgian-style paneled wooden doors, pediments, and all the paneling appear to have been made out of American Chestnut. Perhaps it's maple. Any woodworkers on here with thoughts on what it might be? Chestnut was used in high-end interiors because there was a lot of it being milled due to the tragic chestnut blight. Whatever was in the East Wing, it was gorgeous and was probably destroyed,. Instead of being salvaged, was it ripped out and tossed in the dumpsters? It makes me sick!

They're the ones enabling and supporting it, and they're the ones who could end it in a week.

On one hand, I agree, Ole---it would drive him crazy to be met with utter silence. OTOH, he'd probably keep escalating, doing ever worse things, trying to get a reaction. I agree that it's THE plan/plot to TRY to keep us off-balance AND IGNORING THE EPSTEIN FILES while THEY commit even further atrocities, letting him freewheel his wildest toddler-tantrum fantasies, even encouraging him to 'go for it'. He LOVES doing this shit - and yes, we ARE reacting exactly how they want. I like your idea of not giving them the satisfaction but there's a point where it can NOT be seen as acquiescing. The destruction of the White House is one of the latter - have to agree with Punkette on this one. We should SUE HIM for that - especially since it IS 'OUR HOUSE'! MAKE him take every penny of his fucking 'ballroom' money and have it put aside to restore OUR HOUSE once he's removed/gone. That'll satisfy SOME of my rage but of course not all. I'm both a veteran and a retired Lutheran pastor. I erroneously thought Convict Donnie could do no worse than his atrocious first term as our King....er....I mean President. Including his terrorist mob who stormed and desecrated The Capital Building on January 6, 2021 in order to steal Biden's election as our new President.

To say I was wrong about the abilities of this criminal and traitor would be the understatement of the millennia!!! What he has done and is doing in a mere matter of 9 months is beyond comprehension. What is equally incomprehensible is the complicity of our Congress and The Supreme Court who enable and support this mad monster.

Our Constitution is, frankly, without meaning anymore! As the 5th generation in my family lineage to take The Oath to defend our Constitution from ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC, I am both sickened and outraged by pseudo "veterans" and pseudo politicians who have made a joke and mockery of God, oath taking and public service. And to do these horrendous acts proves their sociopath illnesses.

There are no words that can adequately describe what we are witnessing, hence the mental necessity for outrage and dark humor. I think of my father and grandfather and millions of others who gave some or all to defend and save our Democratic Republic from those who would destroy it. Today and every day I am asking with a tear in my eye and my stomach in knots, "For what? Were all those losses and ungodly suffering for liberty, freedom and equality for nothing?"

The only honest answer I can whisper in the face of this nightmare is, unfortunately 😔, "Yes,....God damn it all...yes..."

As a theologian, I am mindful that each and every generation is like the grass of the fields that rise and die each yearly season. Nothing will last forever, including this present cruel and insane madness that is MAGA. Nonetheless, during this present season of evil and injustice, good people of good and grace-filled hearts are required to resist and fight when and where they can so that the holy virtues of love, kindness, empathy, compassion and justice for all creation and humanity will endure these nights for the sake of the children and grandchildren.

Only when justice and love reigns again can we honestly acknowledge those who gave of themselves in the past so that those unknown to them in the future could flourish in peace and abundance. God help us and the world.

Donnie Demento showed precisely the same respect for the historic details of the East Wing as he did for the friezes on the Bonwit Teller building, which he razed to make room for Trump Tower in NYC.

He's always been a special kind of asshole, a psychopath who smashes things just to see the looks on our faces. Learned it from his psychopathic father, who smashed up a landmark at Coney Island.

Immigrants are a net positive for the US in so many ways. But we could've done without Trump's ancestors, who've brought us nothing but crime, greed, racism and a powerful urge to avoid making selfless contributions of any kind (Trump's grandfather, Friedrich, skipped out of Bavaria to avoid military service. He later tried to immigrate back but Germany quite sensibly refused him re-entry).

Expand full comment
Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

That wasn't 'quite' the whole story of his (I believe he might've been his great?) grandfather - Drumpf). After he failed to make a living here in America he returned to Germany where he went hat in hand to the Kaiser BEGGING him to accept money (a bribe) as an 'apology' to allow him to stay - this after running fleeing the draft when younger. The Kaiser refused not only his money but to allow him to remain in Germany at all, expelling him forever. THAT is the beginning of NO DRUMPFS/trumps ever fighting for ANY Country, and THAT man was the one who later changed his name to 'trump', probably after a card term. donny's name is DRUMPF and John Oliver had the right idea to 'make donald drumpf again'. That same great?grandfather is the one who then opened saloons in this Country catering to miners, cowboys and the like but in the back rooms women were 'available'. HE was the 'founder' of the family wealth. Their treatment of women as trash and expendable runs in this vile family.

Frederick Trump

American businessman (1869–1918)

Frederick Trump was a German and American businessman. He was the patriarch of the Trump family and the paternal grandfather of Donald Trump, the 45th and 47th president of the United States. Born and raised in Kallstadt, in what was then the Kingdom of Bavaria, Trump immigrated to the United States in 1885. In 1891, he began speculating in real estate in Seattle. During the Klondike Gold Rush, he moved to the Yukon and made his fortune by operating a restaurant and a brothel for miners in Whitehorse. - Wikipedia

I have ancestors who arrived in Massachusetts in 1635, and then went on to join others in forming Stratford, Connecticut. (Hate the word "settiled.") One branch of the family also settled in North Carolina; it was after the Civil War. I will check info compiled by a relative years ago - hope to NOT find that one name..

Expand full comment
longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

You won't. I think they moved out of NC and into SC and finally into Kentucky. That's interesting about Connecticut. Both my father's ancestors, the Coles (1633) and the Wetmores (1636) landed in Plymouth. The Wetmores moved to Connecticut in 1636 and started Middletown. Some of them even moved to Canada after the Revolution!

Thank you for extra details. My Connecticut ancestors were the Beardsleys starting with William Beardsley (1605-1661), and I think they mostly settled in Connecticut with a few straying to upper regions of New York state. In the 1950s one of my mother’s cousins in NC moved with her husband to Ontario, Canada (last name Connell). The ancestor who moved to NC after the Civil War, Grant Beardsley, had only one male child who did not live to adulthood, and the other nine children were female, so these family members are not easily traced by the last name Beardsley. A few of my mother’s cousins compiled everything they knew from both family papers and public documents (some even researched in England) into a self published book that they distributed among family members in the mid 1990s, which was too early for online research available today. My information comes from their book. Perhaps our ancestors crossed paths occasionally while in early New England settlements. Thank you for the reply!

I worked in a historic (private, not government) building. It was built in 1917 and had stained glass, oak paneling, fancy floors, lots of interesting fixtures.

It was sold and renovated into condos or something but you know what? They carefully removed the paneling, carefully removed the wrought iron and fixtures, carefully removed the stained glass and the 12-foot bookcases and THEY FUCKING SAVED THOSE PRICELESS ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS.

Some were sold, some were repurposed and some were used in a small exhibit about the building. They weren't bulldozed and thrown into dumpsters.

What kind of a third-rate contractor would even TAKE this job? Who wants to be known as the company that demolished the White House? They need to be named and shamed. I don't care if they are just a "businessperson trying to make a living," anyone who cuts down 200 year old trees and bulldozes public property needs to be publicly held accountable.

So, I think we have bigger problems than cruelty being the point. I've seen a lot of tinfoil chatter online, maybe ya'll have too, but here are some disturbing things that, when you put them all together, don't look so hot.

Under the East Wing is the bunker that is undergoing major renovation. Likely so he can hunker down and not be moved.

Giving 40 billion to Argentina (the same country that gave safe haven to Nazis after WWII) might be a down payment on a future safe haven.

Venezuela attacks are testing the waters to see how much war stuff he can get away with without anyone saying boo. So far, so good.

Taking away food (SNAP), not seating congressmen and women, redistricting all the red states means laying groundwork for canceling midterms and elections in general and keeping the populace down and submissive.

Putting ICE in the streets is step one in militarizing in case of uprising when all of the above becomes too much and we decide not to hold peaceful marches but really get pissed.

So perhaps it's time to really get pissed before all of the above gets even worse and it's too late.
