Thank you Jeff. It is maddening to watch. Not just the soon to be “Prison Apprentice”, but what was once the GOP becomes the Trump Crime Party. Everyone co-conspiring to subvert the peaceful transfer of power -a hallmark of any form of democracy, to those supporting Trump’s big lie, to all working to impede and obstruct investigations and trials of Trump and his co-defendants. There are so many who should be expelled from Congress for their continuing attempt to subvert an already flawed and tenuous system.

Imagine a Senate without those who refused to vote to certify the elections knowing there was no evidence of foul play. Imagine a House Majority back in the hands of adults who will pass a budget, support Ukraine against Trump’s boss, and govern.

And don’t get me started on Ken Paxton. Talk about a one-man deep well of Trump-understudy corruption, it is surprising he hasn’t thrown his hat into the Trump Crime Party race for the nomination. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any slimier than Pam Bondi.

But I digress. Thanks a lot Jeff. Now frantically looking for my blood pressure pills!

OK but - and now, hear me out - is it really possible that Donny Fuckface is really THAT dumb? I mean, really?? Or - maybe - they are just strategically using this and their other ridiculous claims to perpetrate their "delay delay delay" schtick? They have to know that this immunity garbage isn't going to hold any water - right? I really hope that whatever powers-that-be decide quickly about this nonsense and then move everything along at breakneck speed - since that's the exact one thing he doesn't want to happen.

Expand full comment
Ellis Weiner's avatar

He IS that dumb. (Fran Liebowitz: "You don't know anyone as stupid as Donald Trump. You just don't.") His only hope, he thinks, is to throw enough sand into the gears of justice to defer everything until after the election. He'll lose that, too, but can use it as an excuse to try Insurrection II: Electoral Boogaloo. That, too, will fail. What's really weird is, the entire Republican Party has signed on for that. Or maybe it's not weird at all. Maybe it's just contemptible.

Expand full comment
Candace Plattor's avatar

Yeah, I know he's stupid and yet he has managed to get a mob of 60 million other idiots to follow him. Although I understand the psychology of this and how it could have happened, I'm still left scratching my head. It's likely that I'll go to my grave not understanding how all of this could have happened - including the GOP'ers you're talking about too. So incredibly stupid, all the way around.

Agree. The 30 million orc army MAGA base, okay. But 30 million (or more) others? After 4 years of his inept/criminal administration, a failure to deliver literally anything he promised, and 30,000 lies? It's baffling. Are there THAT many Evangelical morons? I happened to do the math this morning... 148 million voters / 35 percent are Trumpers = 52 million votes that Trump could be assured of. That would be 20 million less votes than he got in 2020. I think this math might work.

The driver Donald Trump is running around yelling expletives and thinking about another Big Mac if they ever get the bus going. There is nobody mature or intelligent enough among them to help. As the sun goes down on the GOP, they piss on the landscape and blame each other for their troubles.
