Your uppercase-challenged and expletive-rife emails have been brightening my inbox and bringing a smile to my face for almost a year now. Keep 'em a-comin' in 2024 and beyond. I looked back to see what I posted last year on Christmas, and I didn't post anything! it's hard to remember there was a time when I didn't write obsessively every day
I will be a subscriber when I can, but for now between a quarter and a third of our income goes to care for my husband, who is dying. He’s not in pain, he’s happy, and I’m happy to have him for as long as I can. We will spend at least some of our thirty-fourth anniversary together, and I appreciate thirty-four years of love.

I'm attending a large dinner party with friends and am bringing yams with ginger and green bean casserole! I have no biological family left and my friends are kind enough to include me every year in their celebrations. I'm grateful for my friends and for YOU, making me laugh everyday. On the 25th, I made a small batch of custard (5 ramekins, since I live alone), and took 2 of them to my 98-yo mom in assisted living. She already got homemade Christmas cookies (pecan tassies & butter cookies (cookie press trees, snowflakes, wreaths)) that I’d made a couple days before. I love baking, but only do it now if I have an outlet for sharing.

Yesterday as I am apt to do, I drove throughout the Hudson Valley delivering Xmas cookies and even some home made crackers. As I entered the Rip Van Winkle bridge an eagle swooped my car. Startled I looked up in glee and read the bridge sign, "You are not alone." And here we are my friends, about to enter into the most important, historical election of our days. Have a wonderful holiday, Jeff, Ms. Jeff and all. Remember the eagle and that We Are Not Alone!
Exactly my thought as well. Few keep up with the news as much as I do, so the state of our democracy is always on my mind and in my heart. The eagle! That’s a strong message with those words. We are not alone. We are all one!
We are truly living through unprecedented events, every day, it seems. Do take a break, rest up and feed your heart. It will keep on coming, we will still be here, when you return refreshed. Indeed, I was so distracted by the 15 boxes of cookie delivery, that the eagle snapped by consciousness into that one moment, only to look up and see that sign, which I have driven past many times. But together they spoke of something larger: hope and acknowledgement of a greater whole. Sending spiritual renewal and emotional strength!
