mental health break, once more
but also some stuff about Donny and coffins
friends,
it has now been five weeks since the passing of my wife Claudia.
continuing to write these daily posts has been for me an essential part of my grieving process. but every now and then, the profound sadness of it all becomes just too overwhelming — and so today I must grant myself another day off.
let me once again take a moment to say thank you to the thousands of people who have posted, commented, private messaged, texted, and phoned to offer condolences. I love you all. I am blessed to be surrounded by an amazing, caring community.
thank you for hanging in there with me. see you tomorrow.
but wait, before I take off — this wouldn’t be a real post unless it had some serious Donnyloathing in it, so here we go.
Preznit Fuckwit attended another ‘dignified transfer’ in Dover, Delaware, yesterday — this one for the six service members who were killed when their refueling tanker crashed in western Iraq.
Fox News: “We should point out that at the request of the families, the dignified transfer is going to remain private. There will not be cameras there.”
this is the stage we’ve reached in Donny’s unprovoked, unnecessary and illegal war on Iran: the families of the fallen have had to call for a ban on cameras.
was it because they didn’t want a repeat of last week’s disgraceful shit-show, when Donny showed up wearing a campaign hat atop his big, dumb pumpkin head — and then used the photos in a series of disgusting fundraising emails?
or was the whole ‘at the families’ request’ line a cover story cooked up by Donny’s handlers, who have decided that it’s better to hide the results of his disastrous clusterfuck from public view? with these evil shitweasels, anything is possible.
everything fucking sucks right now, so let’s just sit back and enjoy Rand Paul ripping Markwayne Mullin several new ones at yesterday’s confirmation hearing.
“recently, Senator Mullin, if you have time to listen, you were confronted by constituents who were angry because you voted against my amendment to stop all funding for refugee welfare programs. instead of explaining your vote … you decided to try to transfer the blame. you told the media that I was a ‘freaking snake,’ and that you completely understood why I had been assaulted. I was shocked that you would justify and celebrate this violent assault that caused me so much pain. I just wonder if someone who applauds violence against their political opponents is the right person to lead an agency that has struggled to accept limits to the proper use of force. … you went on to brag that you had already told me to my face that you completely understood and approved of the assault. well, that’s a lie. you have a chance today. you can either continue to lie, or you can correct the record. you have never had the courage to look me in the eye and tell me that the assault was justified. … tell the world why you believe I deserved to be assaulted from behind, have six ribs broken, and a damaged lung. tell me to my face why you think I deserved it. and while you’re at it, explain to the American public why they should trust a man with anger issues to set the proper example for ICE and Border Patrol agents.”
Two-Names McDumbfuck is giving off real ‘Ralph Kramden hamana-hamana-hamana’ vibes as he sits there, listening to Rand Paul tear him to pieces.
let’s be clear-eyed: Rand Paul is not our friend. in the clip above, he repeatedly lies about the extent of child-care fraud Minnesota — but you have to admit that watching Rand savage Marky SeveralNames can only be described as fucking heartbreaking.
that’s it, I’m outta here. thanks again for hanging in there with me. see you tomorrow.
here’s your daily reminder that I can be found on Blue Sky at this link.
this is going to be my closing message for the foreseeable future:
practice self-care. do what you need to do to keep sane. if that means you need to disengage with my daily posts for a while, I get it. this community of ours will still be here when you return.
to all the people who have signed on in the days since the election, welcome aboard. settle in as we all try to deal with the shitfuckery that’s ahead of us.
we are all in this together, and we are all here for each other.

let me repeat my comment from last week's day off, "by the way, I am very aware of how lucky and privileged I am. most people do not have a hundred thousand or more people who care about them. that has to make a difference in the grieving process. so, once again, thank you. I love you all"
The honor is ours, Jeff. Rest easy.
