I'm going to go clinical here as someone who spent 20 years working in critical care and trauma units. I think he already had underlying cardiovascular disease prior to getting COVID due to lifestyle choices. I'm guessing he may also have long COVID symptoms. Many people developed blood clots as a result of COVID and are on blood thinners. I also think he may have atrial fibrillation which makes him susceptible to blood clots. I'm going to go clinical here as someone who spent 20 years working in critical care and trauma units.
