programming note: when possible, I will now be linking to videos from bluesky, instead of defaulting to not-twitter

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

a few people were complaining about clicking through to not-twitter against their will, and I think that's a valid point

Money and power are all these Republicans care about. Maybe we can impact their small change by leaving all platforms that benefit the scum two rows behind orange fecal matter on Monday. Deleted threads, instascam, facefuck, and have not bought anything from Amazon in a month. Fuck all these cretins. I can live fine without them. We all can. Bluesky is great. And they don’t ask me if I’m sure I want to call some fuckhead a fuckwad. And they have never asked me if I need help. Haha. It’s okay to be a functioning rageaholic in times like these.

SeekingReason's avatar

I closed my accounts! It was hard at first because it was the only connection I had to a couple of people overseas, but I got over it. I will NOT support the milque toast men who are licking the orange felon’s ass.

Ingrid Robertshaw's avatar

I have urged everyone to ditch the FB etc. I never had it. Pick up a phone & talk to people. Write a letter..yes..it is still in vogue..my god Bonnie & I write letters..to each other. Ditch that stuff that has made MONSTERS out of the ZUCKERBERGS..BLUE SKY IS GOOD..TRY IT

Join BlueSky and whine no more.

TJTarheel's avatar

I just joined and also Tribel

Abigail Norling's avatar

I only do not twitts, so I'm all good <3

TJTarheel's avatar

I only go there when I’m feeling mean-find someone to pick on-then leave, but usually on a whim.

Janine's avatar

Thank you for this

CAM from 🇨🇦's avatar

Yeah, cause I’ve not been to Elmo’s joke site since being kicked out. Bluesky is the real deal now.

Teri's avatar

Lots of us have deactivated X, & IG, so thanks.

Doc Blase''s avatar

WaPo and NYT. Xfinity too. Go X themselves.

Victoria Wilson's avatar

Yeah, I left Shitter as soon as Elmo bought and fucked it all up pronto.I love Bluesky but it is a bit tricky to get on it.It is new and bugs are still being worked out.It reminds me of how Twitter used to be.It was my fav until the Space Nazi BOHICAed it.

KP Johnson Austin, TX's avatar

Remember a few weeks after Leon bought twitter he sent a survey to all twitter users asking if he should step down? We voted overwhelmingly to yes, step down and leave us alone, asshole. Well, he's been stepping up (and jumping like a dipshit) ever since.

Elle's avatar

Gawd, I'd just love a setting on Bluesky that let me prevent (1.) Any random person (with a Y-chromosome and suspiciously generic American/British-isles-heritage name and profile photo) from following me and

(2.) DMing me

I don't fucking want to have a private conversation. I am ESPECIALLY allergic to the inevitable bombardment of "hi, how are you, are you married, how many kids, how long married, blah-fucking-blah." VOMIT!!!

Honestly, I'm starting to like AI conversations better at this point, than rando Y-chromosomes DMing, and alleged double-X chromosomes trying to get me to follow their link to their damn porn sites.

And it would make Bluesky a much more serene space if I didn't have to retroactively, and one-at-a-time report and block.

AND I'd love a way to add them to a Block A Creepazoid Starter Pack for individuals like myself who are violently allergic to being creeped.

That's my biggest hangup with Bluesky, and I may yet simply close my account, because I don't find the daily grind of report & block-a-Creepazoid particularly enjoyable.

It's hard on my tooth enamel from the stress-reaction jaw clenching.

Diane J's avatar

You get those on all social media sites.

Elle's avatar

The sole advantage of Facebook was the ability to filter the Creepazoids. Nobody could send friend requests. Anybody who wasn't a friend couldn't just instant message me. Had to send a request, which didn't simply show up in my other messages.

Not enough reason to stay on Facebook, but damn, I really liked my peace and quiet instead of the all-up-in-my-DMs rando Ys while I'm still mainlining caffeine and warily edging into my human suit.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

"Warily edging into my human suit"...what a great descriptor! Kudos!

Abigail Norling's avatar

I cleaned my FB all up, and am sticking. The grand kids like it!

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

PTW's avatar

Try Spoutible.com. All of those features are available.

P. J. Schuster's avatar

Theee are Block Packs on Bsky, however a very reliable person warned us that some bad actors are using that feature to get us Blue folks to block some other really nice Blue ppl that we would really like to be friends with; so you still need to verify who you are blocking one by one.

It’s not that bad, after just a short time of aggressive blocking. I don’t run across too many magas now.

Doc Blase''s avatar

Me neither. When 'offered' the 'opportunity' to 'admit' I'd violated the Xitter 'rules' for asking, "can't anyone smack this guy?" (Dumpty), that was it.

Bye and GFY Muscolini.

I am LIVID that Fetterman has gone off the deep end! WTF is he thinking???

"Christ on a corn pone, Senator..”😂😂 Tommy is terminally stupid.

The police union is “shocked”. Really? I’m shocked at their idiocy. Releasing these insurrectionists is the worst…and it’s only going downhill from here.

And we need more like the Bishop. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

T L Mills's avatar

Yes because every damn pardoned J6 asshole is going to run to their nearest gun shop and buy as many guns as possible, and await (drooling and panting in anticipation) for Donny to call them into his brownshirt brigade to intimidate voters in democratic districts.

Lucius's avatar

Intimidate or just outright kill.

Catherine's avatar

Outright kill or, can't you just shoot them in the knees?

My greatest fear. These people are now his private army and they owe him their unceasing loyalty, no questions asked.

Need some Democratic voters/activists intimidated and their families threatened?

Want a couple of polling places bombed? Election workers threatened?

Brownshirt militia will carry out Trump’s retribution, sad truth Eva!!

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

They get put down as mad dogs in the end, but they harass and kill too many innocents in the meantime.

P. J. Schuster's avatar

One of them got put down yesterday by a LEO at a traffic stop.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

That is good news for society, may the rest follow, feeling over bold after their pardon. The police may have to right that wrong themselves. Normally I’d be against that, maybe it will give the innocent victims a break.

Terri Nighswonger's avatar

These are very immature people who have watched too many movies and now have images in their heads that they are heroes. The “these” are those people following rump thinking they are going to be glorious heroes. They have never been anything.

David Skoglund's avatar

Done with him. He is the new Manchin.

Mary A. Rose's avatar

He is the new Sinema. She was all woke until she got some money. Fetterman needs to be primaried out.

steve robertshaw's avatar

I just posted that before I read down to your comment. It sure looks that way.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

She was never that woke, she came from the green party of spoilers and grifters.

Kay-El's avatar

I keep wondering if he’s trying to get one-termed. 🤔

Mary A. Rose's avatar

He was always a flawed candidate, but Dems stuck with him.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

Fetterman ran against Dr. Oz. there was no choice but to support him

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Fetterman had a stroke. That means brain damage. Could explain 90% of the fact he can't remember what a Democrat is.

steve robertshaw's avatar

Didn't he give a false persona in his primary then? That's what Sinema did.

David Skoglund's avatar

The Democrats have always had some questionable people. Anybody remember Zell Miller?

M Apodaca's avatar

Like in Louisiana: Vote for the crook; it’s important. (Not necessarily a quote, but you get the idea.)

David Skoglund's avatar

We needed him, or so we thought.

Bonnie Council's avatar

Yep. But such a disappointment now.

Carthago Delenda Est's avatar

Not really. Manchin was a D in a deeply red state. Fetterman represents (or he did) PA, which isn't red, it's mostly blue, due to the big population centers of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

I did time in PA (SW portion of the state, near Pgh.) and James Carville was correct. Paraphrasing, 'You have Philadelphia in the East, Pittsburgh in the West, and Alabama every place else.'

Susan Niemann's avatar

A major disappointment.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

I'm afraid his stroke radically altered his brain function.

Catherine's avatar

Agree, they say brain damage can radically alter someone's personality.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

I worked my way through college as a nursing assistant, can confirm.

P. J. Schuster's avatar

I was an Rn X 42 yrs, mostly in ICU; yes a stroke can & frequently does alter personality

celeste k.'s avatar

It's really frightening to think that the police (you know...those out there protecting and serving the public) are stupid enough to believe that shit to begin with!

Lairbo's avatar

Their endorsement of him is also an argument against profiling; if they didn't recognize Trump as a career criminal after 50 years of his criming in public, bragging about getting away with it and promising to commit more, they clearly aren't any good at spotting crooks of any sort.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

He was "their" crook, who allowed them to be as racist as they wanted to be.

Jennifer Dyke's avatar

It's probably more like they don't care, because there might be something in it for them to look the other way.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Having a mobbed up career criminal at the helm relieved them of having a conscience Jennifer!!

Robert Eckert's avatar

Again, that doesn't say much for their acuity if they did not understand that there was never going to anything in it for them.

Anne Whitney's avatar

Maybe racism is blinding. It's curious for sure. My brother was a police chief and he wanted to implement evidence based policing strategies and scroll back the crazy, and then the pandemic happened which made the top priority just trying to not get everyone sick at once.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Spoken with a number of police officers, all Trump supporters…sign of the willfully ignorant times!!

Vickie Berry's avatar

The California chapter is mostly made up of the “brass” (the higher up positions in law enforcement) and not the officers working the streets.

KP Johnson Austin, TX's avatar

Does the brass not keep up with the news? I guess they only watch faux.

Vickie Berry's avatar

The Fraternal Order is really just a drinking and social organization with next to zero influence on our law enforcement agencies.

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

Haven't been beaten up, have you?

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

Teri, the weather is beautiful here today. I hope it's nice in Paradise. It's one thing to be beaten up when you're 19, but I don't want that experience when I'm 74.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

They don't hire them for their intellect, they hire them for their willingness to follow orders. They are mostly a security force for the rich.

PTW's avatar

Cops, by and large, are white men. They voted exactly like the majority of other whites did. Cannot conceive of a MIXED RACE FEMALE in charge!

Why would they be any different?

Geoff Anderson's avatar

As to the police, I am reminded of a Meme with Sarah Silverman (love her) b being pulled over and the officer asking her "Do you know why I am here?", and she replies "Because you got C's in high school."

Stephen Brady's avatar

Like Tommy Tubes, he is literally brain damaged (stroke). The predictable turn to the right is due to an information processing loss.

Mary A. Rose's avatar

And Dems stuck with him!

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

I believe you are correct, in the training I had, they explained that often stroke victims revert to primitive actions, grabbing the nurses inappropriately, etc. Daddy Bush was famous for that, it's like they lose the veneer of polite society.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Been in a couple of neurological wards, strokes depending on the variety and severity can cause serious damage, but in the Fetterman case, it’s rather dubious he was anything other than what we see today Natalie!!

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

His wife literally got together with him because he was living in a town that was economically disadvantaged to help rebuild it. So no, he was a decent guy.

He could have early onset Alzheimer’s, that can turn you into a vicious animal. I got kicked in the chest by an Alzheimer’s patient in the hospital when I was working there.

I just hope that all 20 Republicans in "red" seats up in 2026 are considering WTF is going on with the chaos that has been created in 3 damn days. It's NOT a good look, Rx drugs, immigrants, raids, pardons, defunding social programs etc. etc. etc.

The fELON and his billionaire bros are going to show MAGA how stupid they really are to vote for the worst, most vengeful person ever. And FO FOP, we told you so!

Sarah #1's avatar

I love you Jeff for using a great word - GONIF - which can be applied to 98% of all MAGA enablers. Just for fun, I recommend everyone google Yiddish Words for Bad People. There is a fantastic, long list of applicable terms for all of these repulsive lemmings.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Fetterman is another stroked-out Democrat. And what's with the stupid shorts, all the time everywhere? Can't he find a pair of big boy pants that comes in Sasquatch size?

MJ's avatar

Please consider not body shaming to make your point. It's low-hanging fruit and it's not that hard to find other things to insult besides someone's body.

Thinking it's ok to body shame "bad people" opens the door for others to decide who are "bad people" and get to be body shamed.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Fetterman's shorts risk showing his own "low hanging fruit," but maybe that's the point.

MJ's avatar

Good work. You followed up body shaming with more body shaming.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

As a lover of monsters, I used the reference to Sasquatch with admiration.

P. J. Schuster's avatar

Reference to showing his scrotum or penis because of inappropriate clothing choices is not body shaming; it’s is questioning a person wardrobe.

Gina's avatar

luv "Sasquatch size"

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

Not married to the guy who is always the biggest in the room, are you?

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

They register them as a threat regardless of actions, like poor George Floyd who may not have even known he had a counterfeit bill. My niece who was a police officer at the time, passed one at Disney World, she got it at a convenience store.

Robert Eckert's avatar

"Can't he find a pair of big boy pants that comes in Sasquatch size?"

No, as a matter of fact he can't. He's talked about this often over the years.

P. J. Schuster's avatar

It’s my understanding that James Comey was a really big man, he wore slacks, suits?

Marie Drozdis's avatar

Fetterman recently stated that he is his own man and no one is going to tell him what to do. He was elected under false pretenses, if this is the case. He is supposed to do what he said he would and we elected him because we trusted he would do so. I made a mistake voting for him, for trusting him.

Mary Hall's avatar

Some other Dem woman was recently elected and immediately became a Rethuglican. How dafuq is that okay? It's bait-and-switch, which is illegal in retailing

David A Pitock's avatar

Went through the same with Kirsten Sinema. She wreak havoc in her time in the Senate total blindsided a lot of voters.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

It’s the oldest con and to pull it off in this day shows how it’s been forgotten and/or overused either way it’s unfair and should never be used in politics. Misrepresentation is criminal.

KP Johnson Austin, TX's avatar

Funny, because when he was a rising "star", Fetterman was hated by the right..."He had a stroke, he isn't making sense, look at how he dresses, he's a leftie..." Now, he is loved by the right. What a difference 2 years makes.

Linda Weide's avatar

Fetterman clearly wants to get in on the Cristo-crypto grifting too, along with his Nazi buddies in the New American Nazi Party (NANP) formerly known as MAGA.

As for the police union, they may be the first to be shot when our buddy of the animal skins goes out and gets more guns that he is so excited about. Even Trump is less safe by releasing these people, because as we see with Sniper 1 and Sniper 2, they are part of his Tribe, not ours.

The complaining about the Reverand who gave the speech is because it is a well known fact that if you lie all the time you start to believe what you say. That explains the NANP being so offended when you don't parrot their lies, and frankly none of them recognizes truth, because they have no relationship with it.

David A Pitock's avatar

47s crypto is tanking as we speak.

Linda Weide's avatar

Judd Legum of Popular Information Substack did a good job of laying out the grift.

https://popular.info/p/the-inauguration-of-a-multi-billion

It was in the Bulwark when Trump came out with his watch that someone explained how the point of it was that someone like the Saudis could buy 100 of the most expensive watches, and that way buy $1 million of influence with dark money. Trump is expanding Crypto because it is the ultimate untraceable dark money useful for criminal behavior.

But, as Jeff points out people who follow Trump tend to be parted from their money. I can hardly feel sorry for anyone who has over 100 thousand to invest in something speculative like that, unless they have dementia.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

It tanked as soon as Melania's started selling, the gamblers who inflate the value so they can dump them at a profit, realized they were an obvious grift and sold.

Robert Eckert's avatar

He cannot speak truth because no truth is in him. He is of the Father of Lies, and the work of his father he does. He was a liar and a murderer from the beginning.

Lisa59's avatar

It's funny how Fetterman says no one is going to tell him what to do. King Shitpants already has. Wonder how John feels about a nose ring? Shitpants needs a spot to hook on the leash.

The bishop shit-shamed him. He didn't even put his hand the Bibles for his oath. He tells God, "fuck you, I'm God now."

Stephen Schiff's avatar

The FOP epitomizes and ampllifies every fault of organized labor: Acting against the public interest and indeed that of their members, protecting criminals in their midst. The institutionalization of the "Blue Wall."

Nancy Eadie Larkin's avatar

I’ve been thinking about F…man’s outspoken immigrant wife. This isn’t rocket science.

Karen Hall's avatar

Called his PHL office today to give my stump speech about his turncoaty behavior and to demand he publicly denounce the pardons. I also demanded he sponsor a referendum to formally do so. I reminded him that he owed it to his constituents to work on OUR behalf — just in case he needed to be, and that he himself has seen the tragedy of violence - political or otherwise. I’m beyond furious.

I'm thinking Fetterman is (and this is a big hope on my part) that he's going to work on killing the fascists with kindness. Perhaps he just wants to appear like he wants to work closely in a bi-partisan manner so he can infiltrate the front lines? The optics aren't great though, that's for sure. I believe that what the Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde said to him from the pulpit is what every sane, compassionate American should be saying to him from our hearts. But in my case, I would probably be sticking a fork in his eyes while I said it, which would probably kind of defeat the purpose.

If you’ve got to go to church, the Episcopal Church is a good one. You still have to watch it though. While the Anglicans went totally off the rail, there are still some conservative churches out there. Ask around marginalized communities where you live. Connect via bookstores(conservatives don’t hang around them much-kidding but you get the drift).

Yes, much. While schadenfreude is my middle name, in this case, the power of her words, knowing the subtext without seeing it, came through. I did enjoy that they were assholes squirming in their putrescent souls when I looked at the C-Span video.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Unfortunately, he was advised by his mentor Amy Chua (the "tiger mom") to marry her he was going to take a job in another state and planned to dump her but his mentor convinced him to marry her instead.

"In his memoir, Vance said he had asked Chua to recommend him for a federal judge clerkship. Chua agreed, though she ultimately tried to dissuade him from proceeding with his application.

“I think you’re doing this for the credential, which is fine, but the credential doesn’t actually serve your career goals,” Chua told Vance, who was already in a relationship with his law school classmate Usha Chilukuri, per Vance’s memoir.

“This clerkship is the type of thing that destroys relationships. If you want my advice, I think you should prioritise Usha and figure out a career move that actually suits you,” Chua said.

Vance looked embarrassed.

Cassandra Here's avatar

He’s trying to reconcile his uber-conservative Catholicism with what this smart Episcopal bishop was quoting from Jesus.

Mary Hall's avatar

My now-Talibangelical Trump-loving elderly mother from whom I am estranged on the advice of my therapist, was once an uber-devout Catholic who used to say that the Episcopalians were almost as good as the Catholics.

I don't need religion because I have a fking CONSCIENCE that works.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

PTW's avatar

I think he’s the only one there raised Catholic(?)…😅

counterlife's avatar

Nah, the VP is an adult (and fairly recent) convert to Catholicism. That is often worse.

Nancy Potter's avatar

And didn't he go with the anti-Francis version of American Catholics? The ones who think nothing matters but abortion?

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

The Leonard Leo wing, yes. That's where the power is. Donald Barr, Bill's pervy dad, converted for the same reason (he was originally Jewish.)

P123Sunny's avatar

(Thx for the correction!)

Mary A. Rose's avatar

No, Vance has had many names and shades of religions.

Carol's avatar

Bishop Budde earned her wings with that sermon, but I hope she doesn’t need them for a long time to come. We need her right here. Just imagine it! A Christian pastor who actually speaks the message of Jesus!

Carol C's avatar

The “Christians” don’t regard Episcopalians as Christians.

Marie Drozdis's avatar

Well, I, as a Catholic, have also been told we're not Christians. I have lost confidence in my church these past years.

Mary Hall's avatar

My Talibangelical, Trump-loving mother (see above) now thinks the Catholics are the work of the devil because they also worship Mary (for whom I am named) and that deviates devotion from Jebus (oops, a typo).

Anne Whitney's avatar

He didn't come to earth to be worshipped. He came with a message about how to behave down here. He was a radical social reformer and was scapegoated and murdered for political expediency. Any Christian who thinks the message was to worship Jesus completely misses the point of anything he is written to have said. He said love your neighbor as yourself. That's it, everything else is just details about how to do that. I don't see any love there. Those people are empty, soulless, broken, hungry ghosts.

Carol C's avatar

Thanks for that, Anne. The gospels show Jesus as someone people listened to, and what his message was. He didn’t suggest that he himself should be worshipped.

Liz and Max the No. 1 Cat's avatar

Pretty much every Christian denomination has at least one other denomination that they don't regard as Christians. Many of them don't consider Catholics as Christians, even though they were the very first Christians (as opposed to Jews and pagans, not as in following Christ.)

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Of course they don't they sound far too Jesusy, Evilangenitals are allergic to that.

Carol C's avatar

There must be more than one Jesus. One of them promised prosperity and a place in heaven for believers and infinite suffering for everyone else.

A different Jesus recommended treating others as you would hope to be treated, loving thy neighbor as thyself. And he said a rich man could enter heaven as easily as a camel could pass through the eye of a needle.

(My Armenian Christian friend said that “camel” was a mistranslation. Not an large animal, but a knotted rope. Same principle.)

Bethie U's avatar

I watched Rev. Budde speak live. When she directly addressed the felon prez, my jaw dropped in awe and admiration. That took a ton of courage to do that in front of a full church. Her voice was so calm and loving - probably like the Jesus guy. I'm sure the prez was squirming with discomfort, followed by white rage. Not the kind of attention he craves. And by a strong woman. I wondered if the media would even pick up this extraordinary moment. Great coverage, Jeff!

The freed insurgents won’t be able to find jobs as 70% of Americans are opposed to their release so Trump will likely give them one, in a Jan 6th army.

Mary A. Rose's avatar

They have to be shamed and scorned, like Nazi sympathizers in France after Liberation.

Jane John Jones's avatar

Well, they won’t be because they’ll become Trump’s personal Palace Guard and Gestapo.

Jayme Wolworth's avatar

My thoughts exactly, he's building his own "loyalty Army" but I hope they think twice after he burned them the first time.

Teri's avatar

J6 now pardoned: wouldn't some of them think "I'm free! I hated prison. I still maga but it's the straight and narrow from now on "

T L Mills's avatar

That's what I'm thinking, too.

Kay-El's avatar

Rhodes has already shot his own eye out and in his foot. There’s always hope.

Teri's avatar

Kay 😂😂😂. Forgot about Stuart Rhodes shootings - his eye and foot. #OnlyTheBestPeople

Cathy Wray's avatar

I'd like to see the shooting!!!

Kay-El's avatar

The eye, no, but the foot, absolutely!

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

And yet he went to an Ivy league school, forget which one.

Teri's avatar

The now-pardoned J6: does a pardon erase the record of convictions, especially felonies? And for committing violent crimes? I hope the white supremacists NEVER find a decent job the rest of their lives. People who served their time for non-violent crimes should be given support & a second chance.

Mary Hall's avatar

Accepting a pardon implies an admission of guilt. In many states, felons lose their right to vote, and they cannot own a gun.

Mary A. Rose's avatar

Tell that to the Q Shaman. His first purchase is a gun.

Chet Brandt's avatar

I guess that means the “shaman” asshole is not getting his hands on a legal firearm anytime soon— take that mf’er!

Michael D.'s avatar

On that note...is there a complete list of names anywhere of all those who received pardons? Fully admit I have not searched the interwebs yet. Wouldn't be the worst thing if that list ended up in the inboxes of HR people, I don't know... everywhere?

Dave Drell's avatar

Or local police so they can keep track of them.

Anne Whitney's avatar

Ooh that's really good. Black Rock will probably hire them en masse.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Wingnut welfare always provides. Roger Stone loves a big lawbreaking thug, he often uses the Proud Boys as security goons.

Damn! That was excellent Jeff!!! Kudos to the Bishop. The faces on the “family” tells a lot! Yup- from us normal people….”fuck around and find out!”

Mingo's avatar

Yesterday I stated on another Substack that Melania looked as if she was sucking on a sour lemon. The years with Chump have not been kind to her looks. The hardness and brittleness are showing on her face.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

True. She looked dreadful at Carter's funeral and she's looking her age recently despite her numerous plastic surgeries. BTW - where's our girl Laura been? Can't wait to hear Melania's excuse this time for not moving to the WH. I'm sure it will be Barron who will suddenly be in school all year round in NYC.

Mingo's avatar

Despite having all that money she doesn't radiate warmth or happiness. No amount of plastic surgery can fix that.

PTW's avatar

Barron's in college now, for gods sake. She can't keep using him as an excuse for much longer.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

She looked like the original model for Grant Woods "American Gothic" painting when she was at Carter's funeral: old and sour. Black makes her look sallow. I liked her yellow ballgown from last hell tour.

Jeff exceeds his own high bar - TY‼️

Jackie's avatar

Bishop Budde is a hero. She actually spoke truth to power and lived to tell about it. Anyone not fawning over FOTUS is automatically an enemy of the state, but she was much more "Christian" than Franklin Graham and his messianic ravings about God saving Orange Turd in order to save the country. It's only Day 2 and the corruption is off the chart. Although I'm thoroughly enjoying the fascist FOP crying about "cop beaters" being let out of jail (hey morons, he said he was going to do it) and all these marks losing $$ on this latest crypto scam. At least we can get some pleasure out of the antics happening.

Mary A. Rose's avatar

The Cop Union can cry with the firefighters who voted for him when he turned down helping them out with 9/11 illnesses.

Dave Drell's avatar

And the military people, whom he disgraced several times .

Did they all vote for this imbecile clown?

and then complain about him???

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Yes. They are authoritarians who get smacked, and bend over asking for more.

I read that Donnyʻs admin has shut off all communications from CDC and other agencies involved in infectious diseases. So if the bird flu starts spreading like COVID did, the only way we will know is when people in our communities get sick. He doesnʻt want to be blamed for it so poof letʻs just pretend it doesnʻt exist.

Vickie Berry's avatar

Almost every day you read about more bird and human infections, but, oh yeah, let’s just pretend it isn’t happening.

Follow your local news. They hopefully will keep you informed about this.

Maui Wahine's avatar

We are lucky that our Governer is an ER doctor. He was Lt. Gov. during COVID and Hawaii handled it fairly well (only a tiny minority were anti vax and refused to wear masks). Gov Green, mahalo! Heʻs also called out RFK Jr. ʻs wacky views.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I've got a GOP governor. Barf.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Me too DeathSantis. I will always call him that to remind everyone.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

County or (Blue) state health agencies must track and report these cases. It's like 5 Degrees of Separation -- when you finally know someone personally who is diagnosed with avian flu (I do), you'll know it's leapt the fence and in your backyard. BTW, Trader Joe's had not a single carton of eggs on the shelf this past Sunday.

Mary A. Rose's avatar

The eggs aren't a dollar a dozen now? Gas isn't $2 a gallon? But the Felon is going to fix that.

Mary Hall's avatar

A carton of 18 eggs at the local Mexican market in Palm Springs, CA is $17.99.

Vickie Berry's avatar

Because the avian bird flu has killed mostly adult hens, the eggs are being laid by the babies and they lay fewer and smaller eggs.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

And many lay less often in cooler weather.

Barbara Rengstorff's avatar

Which is why we’ve decided to stop buying eggs (besides the price). After his handling of Covid, we expect the same with a bird flu pandemic. Better safe than sorry.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I work in a hospital. I'll unfortunately know right away by the admission diagnosis.

PTW's avatar

We are back to mandatory masking, and visitor numbers are limited and "highly encouraged" to also mask. Rampant RSV, currently.

Teri's avatar

PTW, RSV is horrible! I had it 3 years ago. In 68 years, I've never been so sick. Went to ER - negative COVID & flu. Lasts 4-6 weeks. RSV vax is one shot that lasts a lifetime.

PTW's avatar

I'm sorry you suffered so badly. I am not quite in the "target age group" for the RSV vaccine, but you are helping to convince me to get the vaccine now. Especially before RFKJr shuts everything down. (NIH, CDC, FDA, Dept Health & Human Services have already been ordered to stop updating their websites with science/research updates.)

Carl Babcock's avatar

Pardon the insurrectionists, that's fine. Pardon scientists? God damn you, vile Democrats!!! The hypocrisy knows no bounds, and the filthy masses don't even have the intelligence to see it

The Last Moderate Standing's avatar

When you only want the fig leaf of religiosity to cover your naked amoral nether parts, don’t invite a real Christian to give the blessing. The Pharisees didn’t like it. Neither did the MAGAts.

Cindy Watter's avatar

What’s truly tragic is that if this were a 19th c novel, DT could transform himself into a force for good and become a great leader. Life is full of redemption stories. It’s kind of a motif of the Christian faith. But somehow I don’t think he will take that path.

Richard Spruill's avatar

It'll be another four years of, "What did the Idiot do yesterday?"

656 days until the Midterms.

Everybody be cool.

Linda Fulcher's avatar

That's assuming there will be midterms. I'm expecting the Feral Hog to fake a crisis and declare martial law.

Dave Drell's avatar

Let us all take a moment and 🙏🏻 he will be buried by then, on his golf course, next to his wife!

Sue Munda's avatar

At the vet yesterday, the tech was letting me know their prices were going up, & I said yeah, everything will, to which she said (& I had never met her before), “let’s just hope someone will kill him!” Lol! I think everyone (normal people) are rooting for this.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I like that - Feral Hog. Lol

Linda Fulcher's avatar

I humbly claim this as my own invention; I haven't seen it anywhere else. Feel free to pass it on. I love the image of a fat slob grunting and rooting.

PTW's avatar

I'm with you. I doubt there will be elections in two years. MAGAs risking giving up total Washington DC power by letting the population vote them out? Nope, will not happen. I don't know yet how donald will stop us voting---maybe just rig results like he claims we do?---but they will NEVER give up the 100% control of all branches they have now. NEVER.

Linda Fulcher's avatar

He will find some bogus reason to declare martial law and cancel elections. They will never give up power. This is the Fourth Reich, and there is no one to rescue us.

Cindy Watter's avatar

The problem is people got bludgeoned into insensibility the last time. There was just so much craziness. Yes, keep our eyes on 2026.

Idk, there's way more of us than them. People need to stick together like the buddy system and travel in groups so there's always a LOT of witnesses, some of whom might also be armed. I don't think most of these people would be sufficient to act on their own, that's why it was a mob riot at the capital. Not the smartest bunch, but sufficiently angry.

Jayme Wolworth's avatar

He could so easily have picked up where Joe left off but no, his sick pathology will not let him be the "good guy" he's got to get attention and adoration to survive. Once again I call on Lady Karma to do her thing. Pretty please.

Cathy Wray's avatar

Karma needs to hit him HARD and FAST!!

Liz and Max the No. 1 Cat's avatar

Yes, somebody said yesterday that he wants positive attention, but he'll take negative attention over no attention at all.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Sadly, that bitch is always late.

Liz and Max the No. 1 Cat's avatar

He's utterly incapable of that. If Dickens' ghosts visited him, he'd have them deported. He would never do any kind of self-reflection or every admit he's wrong about anything.

Terri Nighswonger's avatar

Linda Fulcher's avatar

He does have a lizard brain. That gives him his feral cunning.

Pastor Budde did her job but any "reporters " who were there missed it when she read

King David's Psalm 36 .

In their blind conceit,

they cannot see how wicked they really are.

3Everything they say is crooked and deceitful.

They refuse to act wisely or do good.

4They lie awake at night, hatching sinful plots. (and tweeting)

Their actions are never good.

They make no attempt to turn from evil.

Anne Whitney's avatar

Wow. Awesome. I didn't see reporting on that part, thank you for sharing. The blessings do burn him, note the rage in the tweet trying to turn it around on her. Remember the exorcist?

Margaret Carreiro's avatar

Yes, Bishop Budde was brave and wonderful! THE HOLY FAMILY WAS ANGRY.

Just watch Trump, Vance and the families' faces and body language as the Bishop spoke. She was beseeching them to show mercy and kindness. They were having none of it. Vance's face was smugly jeering as he looked to Trump several times for confirmation. Trump looked down often and vacillated from impassive boredom to barely controlled anger. And Tiffany's face was mocking. I'll go back to view Melania again but she's always projecting aloofness while shooting daggers from her eyes.

Remember. Trump is immune to entreaties that are not transactional.

Punkette's avatar

And after the Bishop said Amen … the felon turned to Vance and said (per my limited lip-reading skills), “I want her fired.” What a flaming asshole, and the whole world saw it! Brava, Bishop Budde. 💗

Zija Pulp's avatar

Perhaps the Right Rev. should have made a deal with the ORANGE Baby-skinned Idiot. You show mercy, I’ll provide prayer candles to you for free.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

He wouldn't know what those were.

Mary Virginia Hughes's avatar

Cruelty toward others is the high feature. She calls on him for mercy for others, he calls on cruelty.

Mary Virginia Hughes's avatar

Wonder if it's registering with him how high the percentage is of those who disapprove of pardoning the insurrectionists, one of whom has already been rearrested on some gun charge of one sort of another.

Anne Whitney's avatar

Maybe we can hope for many of them to be re-arrested.
