happy 3rd birthday to us all!

without you folks, I’d just be shouting into the wind

holy shit!

three years ago today, I created this newsletter with the half-baked notion that I might try my hand at writing something longer than a tweet.

I had no expectations of anything. if I had, I might have spent more than 90 seconds coming up with a name for this site.

I figured I might write a couple of things a week for a little while, grow tired of it, and then move on to the next shiny object.

spoiler alert: that’s not how shit went down at all. here we are, three years later — and wow, we have a thriving community here.

that is flattering and humbling and … I really didn’t see it coming.

FOLKS, YOU ALL FUCKING RULE.

I want to thank everyone who signed up to receive the emails — and I especially want to thank all the people who have become commenters here.

really. I fucking love reading your comments. I love it when you folks banter with each other. you are clearly wittier and more knowledgeable than I — and I love that.

it’s nice to be part of something positive — and not, like so much of the internet, toxic and hateful — and I have all of you folks to thank for that. you have made this place what it is.

without you, I’d just be shouting into the wind — and that gets old fast.
