They seem to have learned the American lesson, " nothing ventured, nothing gained!" As DeSantis learned last election, he intimidated people, prevented Justice Department election watchers from doing their jobs, and did anything happen to him for this? NO IT DID NOT!

He's going nowhere though. He pissed off all the equally evil Florida republicans, shaking them down for huge bribes for his campaign, that proved just how unelectable he was. They'll put up with a bully that is a winner, but not one that is a loser. He's out in '26 termed out, and no one is inclined to extend that, or change the rules so he can run again.

Exactly, from what I understand Chuck Grassley, who was head of the Senate Judiciary Committee at that time told Obama that he thought Garland would be able to be confirmed. Garland was considered a centrist, and to me and other liberals at the time, the fact that he was a member of the Federalist Society should have been disqualifying. I can't help but feel in my gut that Judge Merchan's decision to delay Trump's sentencing on the fraud case until after the election was influenced by the threat of violence against the jurors and himself by Trump's rabble. In any case, Trump may only get hit with another inconsequential fine and zero jail time. Grim.

Sharon, I think Judge Merchan had more than one reason for ruling the way he did. My take: He would rather sentence Trump as a citizen than Trump as a candidate. When Trump loses the election it will help calm everyone down and he can proceed in a less fraught environment. Also the pressure will be off for scheduling Trumps other trials and appeals. Justice can then simply deal with the elderly golfer who has been charged and found guilty of crimes.

Just as an explanation: Florida voting law honors the law of the state where the crime was committed and the person/sleazebag was convicted. NY, in all its liberal glory, allows felons to vote if they're not in jail, and Dumpy isn't (unfortunately) in jail. Therefore, he's allowed to vote in Florida. If he were convicted in FL, it would be totally different. (Except that DuhSantis would probably find a loophole for him.)

I'm not criticizing NY state's voting laws regarding felons except in this case, because Dumpy's a Very Special Boy who ought to be in jail.

———-

August 17, 2024 Donald J Trump

Mar-A-Lago

Dear Piece-of-Shit Donald,

Let me take just a few minutes to explain why I would never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote for you......

Let me begin by saying that you are a blatant serial liar, you are the ultimate con, you are a fraud, you are a grifter, you are a total bull-shitter, and you are a scumbag. In my humble opinion, you are a racist, a misogynist and a total fucking asshole. And, a Hitler-adoring fascist as well. Almost every time you open your rotten, nasty mouth, you lie about something. You are a totally disgusting person.

And, you are Putin’s Puppet; Putin helped you squeak out a win in 2016, but his attempt to help you get re-elected in 2020, thank God, failed miserably. Putin is trying to get you elected for a second term; he knows that you will hand Ukraine to him on a silver platter and that you will pull the USA out of the NATO Alliance. In my mind, you are a traitor! A god damn fucking traitor!

And, you are a terrible businessperson. Every intelligent person in America knows that had you simply invested in the stock market every penny your KKK- racist father left you, you would, today, be a REAL billionaire many times over. The fact that you are not really a billionaire means that you aren’t a successful businessperson. The only two things that generated whatever wealth you do have today stemmed from two things. The Fake/Fraud/Con Apprentice reality TV show and the hundreds of millions of dollars Putin-directed Russian Oligarchs and Russian Mafia laundered through your condo projects.

Continue to demean women, asswipe. Continue your racist ways, asswipe. You will find out in November that the vast majority of Americans believe, like I do, that you were America’s Presidential Accident and that you are America’s Disgrace.

1100 S Ocean Blvd

Palm Beach, FL 33480

I hope you rot in hell, scumbag. Perhaps today would be a good day for you to go grab some woman by her pussy. Or shoot someone on 5th Avenue. Or call someone the “n-word” like you did during a planning session for an Apprentice episode. Or reflect on your memories of playing with your former buddy pedophile sex-abuser Jeffrey Epstein. Or invite a fellow racist and a fellow anti- Semite over for drinks and dinner. Or, join a march with your torch-carrying “fine-people” Neo-Nazi’s. Or, work on our next rambling, idiotic, nonsensical, hate-filled, divisive, dumbass rally speech. (I do enjoy listening to you make a fool out of yourself.)

It pisses me off that newspapers and news websites, all across America, don’t have the balls to call you out for the blatant liar you are. The title of the article: “Donald J Trump is a Liar, a Con and a Fraud”. You put up a post on TruthSocial that said, “I know nothing about Project 2025”. You fucking liar. After you said that, someone posted, in the Internet, a photo of you sitting next to Scum, Piece-of-Shit, Fascist Kevin Roberts (President of the Heritage Foundation) on a private jet on your way with Roberts to a Heritage Foundation conference, and you were a speaker at that conference. “Trump told the audience that the Heritage Foundation was ‘going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly whatourmovementwilldo.’" Yougoddamnfuckingliar.

Unfortunately for you (but, fortunately for Americans) your next “term” will be a prison term. I’ve reached out to Honorable Judge Juan Merchan to ask him to start your prison sentence on President Kamala Harris’ Inauguration Day!

Disrespectfully yours,

Joel

p.s., for intelligence/intellectually-challenged MAGAts (rhymes with maggots), President Kamala Harris’ first name is pronounced “, LA”. That said, you can address Kamala Harris as “MADAM PRESIDENT”!

p.p.s, the size of the crowd that gathers to cheer your entry into prison will most definitely be one of the largest crowds ever on Planet Earth!

Folks, I live in FL & I’m confirming this state is Project 2025 in action. DeSantis succeeded in adding an amendment to the lawfully obtained abortion ballot, stating that it would cost the state money if it passed, and there would be fewer live births. He has sent his taxpayer funded gestapo, first to deny former nonviolent felons their right to vote, despite the law passing they could do so years ago in the state. Now he is intimidating people who signed the petition to get abortion on the ballot. And he is using taxpayer money for his Nazi tactics.

Rest assured, if the abortion bill passes with a supermajority of 60%, he will do everything in his power to overturn the will of the people, just like he will do with the recreational marijuana petition that is lawfully on the ballot.

As an aside, I was at my very liberal Unitarian Universalist service yesterday, where the topic was abortion. We received credible threats of a protest and some violent threats. This necessitated the church hiring a police officer during the service, & let me tell you that police officer did not look too friendly to the Liberal people attending.

This BS is becoming so tiresome, full stop.. It is the very definition of an authoritarian state, harassment of citizens doing their civic duty, harassment of citizens who vote, harassment of citizens who are opposed to MAGA and everything it stands for… I am tired, so very tired of this attack on our democracy for the last 10 years..

Somewhere in olden times — like, early in the Biden administration — states like Texas got sued for violating people’s civil rights, including their voting rights. The person in charge of that is long gone, and apparently Fed Soc-adjacent or -curious (not sure which doing multiple workshops and speeches qualifies him to be) Garland hasn’t seen a need to replace her. Or maybe he found someone as scared of appearing political as he seems to be.

God, how I hope that Kamala accepts Garland's "resignation". New blood is desperately needed.

Dear Arne,

Ingrid Robertsaw here

When I took my Citizenship exam in 1967, thhe Examiner asked if " I ever took part in the HITLER JUGEND. I was aghast .I wanted to slap him in the face. My Country of Birth is not Germany . My area was taken over and occupied by the Nazis. They marched up & down the streets, threw people into the River. I remember my parents being very afraid. No one left thhe house. We got bombed on in addition to the NAZI PRESENCE. That question from that man still ring in my head.

When I see FASCHISM REARING ITS UGLY HEAD..I SHUDDER. IT MUST BE DEFEATED

Biden has a propensity for tremendous misjudgement (see Clarence Thomas 1991) but Garland, IMHO, has been the worst choice & one who has damaged our republic forever.

Rhonda's nothing if not consistent in his small-minded, petty, vindictive, teeny-tiny-dick syndrome. The neo-NAZI party has only one way of winning - choose their voters. You know, angry white guys. And yeah fuck them. Long and hard. And these dipshit stories -"MAGA voter unhappy with Harris' stance on..." - yeah no shit Sherlock. Pulitzer in your future:-) And don't get me started on the polls.

tRump uses Meatball Ron like a tool, treats him like shit and expects him to perform like a trained monkey.

The Triumvirate of Evil in Texas - Paxton, Abbott and Cruz - have successfully prevented any type of help for working Texans for almost a decade. <sigh>
