YES, I KNOW I INCORRECTLY EXPLAINED THE GOOD FRIDAY AGREEMENT. I HAVE ALREADY UPDATED THE POST. if you came to the comments section to correct me, you may stand down. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Robert Eckert's avatar

"culminating in the signing of the ‘Good Friday Agreement’ in 1998, which allowed Northern Ireland to align itself with the United Kingdom"??? This is no better. Northern Ireland has been under the control of the United Kingdom ever since there has been a UK, and under the control of Britain since before that.

Jeff Frane's avatar

I already subscribe at least for another week. But I can't read your note.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

today in Shit That Happened While I Was Busy Writing This Shit—

we're not getting the quiet day I hoped for. Donny's yammering at his Doonbeg golf motel right now — LUCKY US.

https://bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com/post/3mvfpim2pfd2l

Q: What do you make of what the British PM said about your comments on united Ireland?

TRUMP: I don't know what he said

Q: He said there will be no referendum until majority of people in Northern Ireland--

T: Everybody says that & then things happen. He's going to be stopping the stupid windmills

HI2thDoc's avatar

He typically butts in and bloviates on stuff he knows very little about and has no business opining on in any case. What an obstreperous, intrusive asshole.

Susie's avatar

“obstreperous” and “bloviates” in one comment. Superb work. Just remarkable. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

HI2thDoc's avatar

It's like those two words were coined with him in mind

Rick Illes's avatar

And "asshole". Also perfect.

Cathy Rady's avatar

especially one that's "intrusive"!

Leu2500's avatar

Reminder: the felon doesn't like windmills because he tried to stop them off the coast of one of his Scottish golf courses, lost in court & had to pay up.

Melinda Morrell's avatar

I wish someone would put windmills off the coast of FL, right in line with the location of Mar-A-Lago, so the Orange Blob would see them often.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Wish someone would wrap the end of his red tie around a wind turbine blade in a Florida hurricane. It might be as glorious to behold as those Trump Getting Humped balloons in the massive Dublin protest, which was delicious.

Stephen Brady's avatar

Couldn't somebody please stick a windmill up Donnie Dipshit's plump orange ass? Sounds exactly the kind of respect he has earned.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Or a methane fuel cell, since he has copious emissions

Steve in SoCal's avatar

It could power a small city 🏠 🏦🏡🏨 🏘️🏭

Bart Dickens's avatar

Butt what city could you possible wish that on? The only place I could possibly think of would be Mar-a-la-go-fuck-yourself.

djw's avatar

Butt . . . 😁

Bart Dickens's avatar

I know, I know, somewhat childish, right?

Bob Bowden's avatar

You’ve invented the hybrid windmill, employing a methane afterburner! Only one problem, and it’s the same problem as when he opens his mouth to speak: You just know a big load of shit is coming

djw's avatar

😁😁😁

Cathy Rady's avatar

even a pinwheel would be kinda fun! can they make them with lights and whistles?

Joyce's avatar

Next balloon pairing: Donnie Demento's intimacies with a windmill.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

After we tear down all of his monuments to himself, I think we should allow one to be built bearing his name. It should be a wind turbine.

Lin Talbot-Koehl's avatar

You KNOW why #Bumblefuck hates windmills so much, doncha?

They're a constant reminder of how his MIND works. Around & around in circles, going nowhere.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

fun, true Responsible Journalism and Everything fact: according to the plagiarism robot, 'céad míle fáilte' is Gaelic for 'a hundred thousand welcome. I will now stand at the ready to receive multiple emails from actual Gaelic speakers telling me why it's wrong

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

second fun fact: the first draft of this post had the balloon vendor going 'no fucking problem, mate' — and then I googled 'do they say mate in Ireland,' and got pointed to a long reddit thread in which someone said 'only an ignorant American would have an Irish person call someone mate.'

so there you go. RESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM AND EVERYTHING!

Jean Jacoby's avatar

Ignorant and American are what the Italians call sympatico.

Maggie&Lefty's avatar

“bien pendejo” as they say along the border in my humble opinion

Tess's avatar

Ha!! well done!!

Dr J's Sanity Space's avatar

😂❤️😂❤️😂❤️

Robert Eckert's avatar

The English word "mate" is a borrowing from the Irish "maite"

Norma's avatar

You put in the hard work and we love you for it mate ❤️😉

Liz O'Sullivan's avatar

We don't day boy-o either, although you do hear 'boy' a lot!

Robert Eckert's avatar

And Jeff: "Northern Ireland won its independence from the Republic of Ireland"??? At no time, ever, was Northern Ireland controlled by the Republic.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

<-- NOT A HISTORIAN. oops

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

post corrected. I've already gotten like seventy emailed corrections from people who actually know what they're talking about, which is why I try like hell not to make mistakes in the first place

Chris Hierholzer's avatar

Don't worry Jeff. They Irish won't Balloon you. When I saw the balloons I thought it would make a great PEZ dispenser. Image every nation on earth ordering millions of them!

Norma's avatar

Sounds like everyone else thinks they are good grief! It’s a fucking Substack not a history grad student lecture!

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Unfortunately, Jeff's history is wrong.

A fierce fight for Irish independence in the early 20th century led to the Republic of Ireland gaining its independence from England around 1920. At that time Northern Ireland remained part of Great Britain. A second wave of fighting broke out in the 1960s in which Catholic Northern Irelanders fought for unification with the Republic of Ireland. In the 1990s, in the Good Friday Accords, the Catholics accepted continued union of Northern Ireland with Great Britain with modifications to the government.

Karen Yaholnitsky's avatar

My Grandmother was from Ireland. She remembered waking in the middle of the night to gun shots quit often. That would have been in the 1910's. So "the Troubles" have been going on for a very long time. But Preznit thinks he can fix it as usual.

Cathy Rady's avatar

Trump imagines that this would earn him a Nobel Peace Prize.

Tho I'm pretty sure that he actually won 3 or 4 elections to receive them, but then those bastards cheated and gave the awards to other, less worthy people.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

He doesn't really give a fuck about the Peace Prize, he just wants all the awards and accolades (including laughs at the White House Press Corps dinner) that Obama was given. One thing he'll never receive that Obama earned was respect.

BigDaddy52's avatar

If he has a real thought on reunification, he prolly imagines it under a trump logo, or some modified swastika.

And I guess we should welcome nattie di-dee to the first, worst family?

Liz O'Sullivan's avatar

Nope, it's perfectly correct :-)

Stephanie Lajeskie's avatar

If only Americans had the balls to treat Donny the way the rest of the rest of the world does…

HI2thDoc's avatar

Or the brains to see through him as the failed faker crook predator that the rest of the world does

rlritt's avatar

Supposedly only 3 out 10 people look at him with tears of love and gratitude in their eyes, but there are still too many who will vote to give him a Republican Senate.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Even 3 out of 10 is way too high. He should have near single-digit approval, like he does in most other countries that are not manipulating him

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

As I've pointed out previously, historian Jon Meacham has noted that even after Joe McCarthy was censured by the Senate, he still had a 30% approval rating. There is a hardcore base that will not be dissuaded.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Proving how many of our fellow citizens are just plain terrible excuses for human beings

RZolu's avatar

Same with Nixon…30% thought Watergate was no big deal…and compared to the daily shit that goes down in the USA I suppose it isn’t…

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Sitting yesterday at a Pacific Beach restaurant enjoying the ocean sunset, I saw a clusterfuck of "real men" stomp by on the boardwalk wearing Old Glory vests and swim trunks, some with spiky hair and beards, looking like the centerfold clowns out of a fascist recruitment pamphlet. The problem with the ball-bruised male arrogance and lust for violence in this country will endure beyond Shitler until men can fix their shit.

rlritt's avatar

Our news media is so broken, many people hear only propaganda with no basis in fact.

arne link's avatar

OH, I think many of us do see through him. More and more see him for what he is. The sad thing is that it has taken so long and so much damage has been done.

michellefromchicago's avatar

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

T L Mills's avatar

Oh, some of us would fucking LOVE to treat Donny exactly the way he treats black female journalists who ask unwelcome questions--or any questions, really. It's just that the Secret Service would then haul us off to Guantanamo and we'd never see the light of day again.

Melinda Morrell's avatar

Agree. That picture of the Mango Mussolini after meeting with Connolly is priceless. He looks bigly mad--love it when a strong woman puts him in his place. I am of English and Scots-Irish heritage, so I always cheer on Ithe UK and Ireland. Our chance to tell Donny Two Scoops what we think of him is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Be there and VOTE BLUE all the way down the ballot!

Richard Von Busack's avatar

Another day of international disgrace. Surely when he charted out the nuptials, Donny had some sort of a clause where he can ditch Melania and marry someone who stares at him as if she'd just taken a giant dose of Ketamine.

rlritt's avatar

I'm sure she has a contract that says she has to show up a certain number of times. I doubt when she married him she expected to stay married this long. I'm sure she and her boyfriend are enjoying a private beach somewhere on the Mediterranean

Lisa Bieber's avatar

I'm not sure if it's Ketamine, maybe she's just incapacitated by the fumes.

T L Mills's avatar

It's gotta be something powerful...I can't otherwise understand how she can look at the stupid a-hole without vomiting.

HH Mohr's avatar

Yes! We need those balloons for NO KINGS day.

Andrea Jennings's avatar

We need to get shares in these balloons.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Absolutely...they are perfect!

rlritt's avatar

Someone somewhere will have them made.

Jill Buckley's avatar

Exactly. Where can I buy one? 🥰

HI2thDoc's avatar

Really, is anyone at all surprised that Harp is with him in Ireland but Mel is MIA?

It's the best relationship of his life

Mizz Nat's devotion is rife

With fawning love notes

And oversized totes

Plus she adores him, unlike his wife

Maggie&Lefty's avatar

Bottoms up people, 🪉 Harps for everyone in the pub on me with an Irish whiskey chaser!

Mark Slattery's avatar

Putin's puppet and Bibi's bitch. Thank you, Dublin and President Connolly.

Susan Niemann's avatar

The felon is insane. Bonkers. Out of his mind.

I cant believe Natalie is in the line...shaking hands. How does she introduce herself...

"I'm his Diaper Nurse, but dont worry I washed my hands. Nice to meet you."

She wants to be Number 4. She'll fit right in cause she's a nut job too.

Die today, asshole. 🤞

HI2thDoc's avatar

I wonder if Marla Maples is often asked, "What the fuck were you thinking?"

Susan Niemann's avatar

Seriously. There's NO amount of money that could attract me to a creep like that!

Cheri Collins's avatar

🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Candace Bartsch's avatar

I sure do love the Irish!

Cheri Collins's avatar

I LOVE the photo of the fuckwad with President Connolly!

Natalia Lincoln's avatar

The look on both their faces says it all, no?

Dr J's Sanity Space's avatar

Yes!!!! She was like the school mistress who had just disciplined the student in front of her!!😬😬

HI2thDoc's avatar

I love when foreign leaders treat him the way he deserves, which means they're not sucking up in order to manipulate him, like the Saudis did with their pop-up McDonald's. Less than a year later, Dumbass DonOld attacks Iran for them and Bibi.

Jackie's avatar
1hEdited

Too bad an Irish journalist didn’t take you up on your offer and ask him “what the fuck is wrong with you” I could totally see one of them doing that!

Ann Anderson's avatar

If a picture is worth a thousand words, the photo of Trump and President Connolly is priceless. In other shit while Jeff was writing other shit, the UK met the deadline and submitted a formal request for extradition for the Tate bros. Legal wrangling between the UK and Romania will ensue, but the bros were denied bail and will remain in custody. Have a good Sunday.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Notice how trump's bringing those two accused rapists and sex traffickers to the US did not elicit any outrage from his "Christian" supporters.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Creeps in jail makes my day!

Diana's avatar

Thank you Ann ~ enjoy your day as well ♥️

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

A normal president gets thoroughly briefed by advisers or the State Department before going to nay country to learn what their issues and positions are. Obviously, no one is left in the White House who can or will do this, leaving Donnie to twist in the wind. Does Marco Rubio even have an actual function anymore?

HI2thDoc's avatar

State, like every other Federal agency, has been infiltrated by incompetent and devious loyalists, leaving the few remaining who care and can actually do their jobs to try to hold back the tide. We can only hope that the damage is reparable. This is not hyperbole.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I feel like State has been completely sidelined. It's a department that has typically been staffed by highly trained experts with decades of experience. It suffered under Bush too; some will recall that when Hillary Clinton arrived for her first day on the job as Secretary of State, employees massed in the lobby and gave her a thunderous ovation. They were saved! Unfortunately, it seems like the damage Trump has done is much much worse, and instead of merely installing flunkies, he's basically turned over much of the critical work to people like Kushner and Witkoff who have no business being involved.

Lisa Bieber's avatar

Oh, I suspect Kushner and Witkoff hope to involve all kinds of business.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Yes, fattening their own bank accounts!

Natalia Lincoln's avatar

Yep, lickin’ the boss’s Florsheims.

Diana's avatar

Yes he has a job to be one of the background people in the Oval Office along with Pete and probably his wife too !

rlritt's avatar

Do you think he remembers anything five minutes after someone tells him something? Im sure he was briefed, but like a child he heard blah, blah blah.

Mike Hammer's avatar

There were “good people on both sides” said Donnie “Diapers” Trump about the Charlottesville Nazis in the United the Right rally. That shtick is getting old!

HI2thDoc's avatar

"Very fine people, on both sides." This was not the humongous red flag that it should have been that fascism is an official part of his mission.

Neal Stiffelman's avatar

The balloons are sublime.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Neil, you definitely had big influence on those balloons. Fuck! fuck! fuck!

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
