But it was Winter, they had no way of going home - OR anywhere so hunkered down, took potshots at the Russian troops - even sang Xmas carols WITH each other, then saved their dwindling ammunition in case a poor rabbit would happen by. The civilians' cupboards were stripped bare with no new supplies to be found anywhere. HE (my father-in-law) wasn't in the least a follower of shitler or that regime (pretty much like us - AND when he brought his family to NY in the early '50's worked to learn English so he could become a citizen, he voted Democratic for his entire life). He was also a very skilled carpenter and machinist, landing a good job with a major Airplane company. Sure, he knew his fellow workers made fun of his accent. He didn't care: his family was safe and that was all that mattered. He LOVED me because I listened, asked questions and paid attention to everything he told me. When he died I cried buckets - and still miss him terribly.

My political book club is reading "1984" right now. In fact, we are in the second section 7 chapters in. We meet weekly and discuss books in chunks. We started with Project 2025, and after the election we switched to books that would help us understand Democracy better and the forces against it. We read "We" by Yevgeny Zamyatin, published in 1921, which influenced George Orwell when he wrote "1984."
From this book I was able to understand that since "WAR IS PEACE" that means that Trump's board is really the "Board of War" which is important to understand. Are people 💰 ing 1 billion dollars so that Trump does not make war on their countries, or are they going to join Trump in making war on other countries, or both?
