I imagine I speak for many readers of your pieces, but I surely speak for myself: when I am reading what you’ve written each day, I noticed that I can breathe a little bit easier. I live in a neighborhood festooned with Trump signs, although I am in a blue state. I constantly pass by ridiculous urban assault vehicles flying the Trump flag. Randos in the store make off hand comments linking the price of things to Biden— even now, one year into Trump‘s disastrous term.
Your column reminds me that I am not alone in my views and my fear and my longing for sanity again. Never has this been more true than in the last several weeks, with the murder of innocent protesters.

We cannot forget “Judge” Aileen Cannon, whose obstruction of justice sabotaged the classified-records case as Trump endangered U.S. national security and through his carelessness risked the betrayal of our allies intelligence operations."
We must not forget Silverio Villegas Gonzalez murdered by ICE in Chicago, September 12, 2025. He was an immigrant, he was brown, he was taking his immigrant brown children to school.

The plain English of the 2nd amendment reads:

So, what is a "Free State" we must ask. In today's America, the security of people in every state, both citizens and other human.people, with or without documentation, are under threat from the extra-juducial tyranny of ICE and the CBP. The leadership of these agencies are exhorting their fully armed agents, to ignore normal police procedures and use whatever force is necessary, including deadly force, to achieve their objectives.
The Founders, fully aware of threats both foreign and domestic to our Freedom and Security, left us State militias, today's National Guard, as protection against Federal tyranny. Each states National Guard are under the direct control of the Governor of each state.o
Given the intentional murders by both ICE and CBP of two Minnesota citizens, it is way past time that Governors call up their National Guard troops to secure the safety of the all their states' people.
