Thanks Jeff.

I thought for sure you'd lead with the RNC Keynote from Judge Aileen Cannon-Trump.

Blatantly corrupt and deeply incompetent -however, follows orders with absolute fealty to Trump. (Everything the would-be Prison Apprentice likes).

Steal Top Secret documents? Cool. Hide them? No problem. Put our national security at risk (as well as our allies?) No big deal.

For most of my adult life, I drank about one alcoholic bev every two months -- it hadn't been a big part of my parents' life and wasn't a big part of mine. From Jan 2022 thru May 2024, I had zero drinks (bc of health problems). But with all of this fuckery, I've started drinking a couple of times a week, which is a lot for me.

I'm not recommending that you do so -- just saying that I empathize with your being enraged. (My other go-to to try to calm down: YT clips on stand-ups, on the Comedy Central or Dry Bar channels).

Sorry Deborah. It is deeply frustrating to be sure. Of all of the indictments, this prosecution seemed a slam dunk. Georgia is halted, not because Trump is innocent, but because Fani Willis may have had a relationship that has nothing to do with Trump (and vastly different from Harlan Crow's special relationship with 'Justice' Thomas. The Washington DC case is delayed due to the "immunity for official acts" ruling (although an elementary school student could determine that inciting an insurrection is not an official Presidential act). Sentencing in Manhattan is delayed because, again, is paying the press to not release a story that's harmful to your CAMPAIGN an official act?

I am hopeful that justice will prevail, but until it does, I'll be watching "Idiocracy" -either the speculative documentary, or the actual, real-time unfolding of it.

Even when I don't read/watch the news. And I'm more fortunate than many - I'm white, not a minority religion or background and I'm too old to have any more children. Trump can't go after me like he can some people. Where he can ruin me is financially. I'm getting ready to retire - mess with my social security or cause the stock market to go into a recession, and my 45 year work record in my profession (nursing) will pretty much be financially for nothing. I was quite ill with COVID (in the hospital for 3 weeks and missed 2.5 months of work) so his policies almost got me then in 1/2021. It's too late in life to begin saving in a different direction. I'm in good shape now, but the MAGAs could easily ruin that in a short period of time. My parents were depression/ WWII generation - I miss them. but I'm glad they aren't around to have to deal with all of this in their senior years.

I'm usually 99% of time anti-conspiracy, but this doesn't pass the smell test. Never seen anyone truly shot at that jumps up and waves their fist around. Never seen either the SS not push them to the ground to avoid them being shot twice. His behavior after he was "shot" was just bizarre. I don't care who you are, you would be terrified being shot, especially around your face/head. No sign of that on his face and he's a big, fat pussy as we all know. His blood pattern was weird on his ear/face. Blood looked too cherry red for blood (but picture maybe wasn't accurate), ear and scalp wounds bleed profusely, even when they're not serious. No blood on his neck, no blood on his shirt and the blood streak across his right cheek had about a 2 inch spot where there was no blood at all. No one had wiped his face then. I worked in a Trauma OR and an ER and I just never saw a blood pattern like that from a wound on the face/scalp or ear. When you put your hand to where you're shot if you're bleeding, there's blood all over your hand. Didn't see that. I'm no forensic scientist so just my opinion.

No comfort but people walk barefoot from the lower Americas to get to the USA, with probably less than you have. Any Eastern European country that has a low cost of living and where enough people speak English until you can get up to speed in their language, if you do not know it, might be a place where you can make your way. I am just thinking of places in the world that are relatively safe and not so expensive. A friend went to Albania on vacation. Something where your English skills would be seen as useful.

I am not saying leave, and I believe in Biden. But, having a sense that you have an out can be helpful. At least looking over where you might live and what you could do, and then getting back to making sure that Biden wins. We the people can make that happen. Most Americans do not want Project 2025. We need to let them know what is in it. I am meeting with my Project 2025 discussion group where we are going to discuss what we have read. Thanks for the info. I would rather live in Europe/Eastern Europe than anywhere else. But leaving the country's not practical for me. I'm in my mid 70's, single and own a home here. I have no family in Europe if I would need help when I was living there. If I was younger and had someone to go with, I'd go in a heartbeat just to experience living there. If the MAGAs mess with our social security and he causes the stock market to bottom out, it won't matter where I live. That's what I'll be dependent on living on. Can't imagine the horrible feeling that minorities must feel about him becoming president again and what could happen to their lives. I took this country for granted. We had our ups and downs since WWII, but I always thought our country would be the same as when I grew up. Dictators and fascists were what some other countries have had to deal with - not us. Until Trump. But the seeds were planted back in the 70's and we were just too naive or busy to pay attention. This is why I have an issue with some of the prominent Republicans now that are screaming about him. Nicolle Wallace, Michael Steele etc. Not that I don't think their concern is genuine, but for years they pushed these GOP candidates down our throats. Sorry, they're complicit in this also. It wasn't too long ago that Wallace was McCain's campaign manager and Steele was chairman of the RNC.

I am seeing immigrants getting support just like we do. A home is money to start off. There are expat groups everywhere who can help you out and with the ropes. You might find friends who feel the same way. Other countries have reasonable fees for health care and insurance that people in the US are not used to. Paying 215 Euros a month or less for health insurance plus long term care insurance is not unreasonable. So, it might just cheer you up to look into these costs.

Yes, but I have a non-citizen husband, so we can pay separate taxes. Also, if we pay taxes abroad we have to report this to the USA not pay them twice. If social security is done away with I have health insurance abroad plus long term care for very little money a month. Comparable to plan B of Medicare for the lowest paying person. Democrats Abroad constantly has webinars of taxes and other things. Heath, housing and food are cheaper here, clothing, electronics and energy are not. using solar and a heat pump and happy that geothermal is being discussed in a bigger way, will help with this down the road. Transportation is bike, and the monthly 49€ transportation ticket that takes me almost in the country as well as the city I live in with no additional cost.

I am glad he led with this. I think we need to put out that the the Head grifter of the Republican party has no loyalty to anyone. In other words, while it seemed clear to me that the Heritage Foundation is planning on controling Trump through his Chief of Staff if he wins, which they expect him to because they have the judges to place him in office if the people don't, as a mentally addled easy to control guy. This is the problem with people only spending time with people who think like them, they may lose sight of reality. Trump does not strike me as someone the Chief of Staff is going to just "manage" while secretly making all policy himself. See how this is set up in Project 2025 in the section called "White House Office," where the Chief of staff is most important and the VP is a useful idiot. However, the elite of Germany who backed Hindenburg putting Hitler into the Chancellor seat, thought Hitler would be their useful idiot. It seems to me that Trump could turn the tables on them. He likes being adored, too much anger about him and his policies could turn him in a different direction because he has no loyalty to anyone, just himself. I am reading Strongmen by Prof Ruth Ben-Ghiat, and at the part where we learn what undoes these Strongmen. Guess who one of the Strongmen is? Yes. Donald Trump because she wrote it during his first term where he already showed his fascist tendencies. This term will be no holds barred. https://www.amazon.com/Strongmen/dp/1788164768

My Spidey-sense is going crazy right now.

Re: Judge Cannon dismissing the case -- good. Jack can appeal to the 11th circuit, and use the delay to regroup and get the financing for his office reorganised under the DOJ budget. He can also re-file the indictments and get another judge on the case. This gets Trump fan-girl out of the way. There was no way the case would proceed any further before the election, so to my way of thinking, this is actually good news. My only concern is that if any of it ends up back at the supreme court (I refuse to capitalise any more -- they don't deserve the respect), we may see them totally trash the case on some weird bogus grounds akin to total immunity.
