What happened in 2010 that was so significant is the Citizens United Supreme Court decision allowing massive corporate money into elections. That help buy GOP some congressional and state seats that wouldn't have been otherwise.

Obama's biggest mistake was not campaigning like hell in 2010 when Republicans not only picked up seats in Congress but in state legislatures that would subsequently do the redistricting after the census.
What happened in 2010 that was so significant is the Citizens United Supreme Court decision allowing massive corporate money into elections. That help buy GOP some congressional and state seats that wouldn't have been otherwise.
I guess Obama was too busy 'presidenting' during his 1st two years in office to go out and campaign, much less to invent and hold Trumpian type campaign rallies. In a racist environment that would've SCORCHED him for doing so.
He fought hard for the ACA, when this was the only majority DEM Congress that would be able to give him a win. On anything.

I have a particular memory of that year when he came to the high school in our adjoining suburb to talk about the Affordable Care Act, and ... oh god, I better not talk about Lee Fisher who was our singularly dreadful state candidate that year because I'm going to get pissed all over again at how he stopped campaigning between the May primary and Labor Day and how he failed to come to this event even though the high school is is alma mater and he still lives within walking distance of it. We lost the Ohio senate seat because of Fisher's cowardice and laziness.
