Where are those seats? Southern Illinois, which has fewer people, but those counties are mostly solidly Republican. So, how do you carve according to my friend that grew up in Southern Ill. So, I just think it would not gain work. People put a lot of time into creating the districts that we have and making the most for the democrats was the point. It could work. 80% of Illinois' population is in Cook County (Chicago) and the five collar counties (Will, Lake, McHenry, DuPage and Kane) which have been trending blue for years. That 20% can easily be overwhelmed by drawing more long skinny districts, which Illinois has already done. Make them longer and skinnier; attach Carbondale to Pullman! Here in Ohio, they're good at attaching lots of red voters to areas to obliterate blue voters. They tried (unsuccessfully) to get rid of Marcy Kaptur with the infamous "Snake on the Lake" district which had the longest coastline of any congressional district and at its narrowed has no population other than than seagulls (where it crossed the Edison Bridge over Sandusky Bay). Plus not all of that 20% are red voters.
I was in that district where it took a hard turn south and dipped into Cleveland. It was drawn that way to get rid of Kucinich. A few years ago, there was a slight alteration so that literally a neighborhood or two was put into another district. Our street is now represented by a very liberal and vocal Cleveland-based woman, while residents a few blocks over still have Kaptur.

Well, actually there is a curfew because there had been shootings in the downtown at night and some other areas in the central business district, but of course way more in neighborhoods, on the south and west sides. My local hospital is a good place to train for gun shot wounds, as it the Cook County hospital on the west side of the city. Still, I agree that they will go for photo ops, not true crime areas. It is a waste of resources but that is all that Trump does. People are getting tired of it, because they can see through the performances. Some of that is because we still have a functioning press.

Where are those seats? Southern Illinois, which has fewer people, but those counties are mostly solidly Republican. So, how do you carve according to my friend that grew up in Southern Ill. So, I just think it would not gain work. People put a lot of time into creating the districts that we have and making the most for the democrats was the point. It is like squeezing milk from an 100 year old breast. Not easy to do.
It could work. 80% of Illinois' population is in Cook County (Chicago) and the five collar counties (Will, Lake, McHenry, DuPage and Kane) which have been trending blue for years. That 20% can easily be overwhelmed by drawing more long skinny districts, which Illinois has already done. Make them longer and skinnier; attach Carbondale to Pullman! Here in Ohio, they're good at attaching lots of red voters to areas to obliterate blue voters. They tried (unsuccessfully) to get rid of Marcy Kaptur with the infamous "Snake on the Lake" district which had the longest coastline of any congressional district and at its narrowed has no population other than than seagulls (where it crossed the Edison Bridge over Sandusky Bay). Plus not all of that 20% are red voters.
So, perhaps that will happen, but we shall see. No one going to Congress from Illinois is Republican.
I was in that district where it took a hard turn south and dipped into Cleveland. It was drawn that way to get rid of Kucinich. A few years ago, there was a slight alteration so that literally a neighborhood or two was put into another district. Our street is now represented by a very liberal and vocal Cleveland-based woman, while residents a few blocks over still have Kaptur.
Linda, it’s astonishing that a Pastor in that neighborhood is a Repub. The teenagers there have a much better handle on what’s going on. I loved that one of them said that if the Nat’l Guard wants to come, then they should help build a safer community rather than cause any chaos.

Well, actually there is a curfew because there had been shootings in the downtown at night and some other areas in the central business district, but of course way more in neighborhoods, on the south and west sides. My local hospital is a good place to train for gun shot wounds, as it the Cook County hospital on the west side of the city. Still, I agree that they will go for photo ops, not true crime areas. It is a waste of resources but that is all that Trump does. People are getting tired of it, because they can see through the performances. Some of that is because we still have a functioning press.
