How did this happen and is there any hope for a better future in this country:

Tim Ryan’s loss to maga JD Vance

Mandela Barrnes loss to corrupt, election denier, soul-less, mean, deceitful liar Ron Johnson. Johnson had massive amounts of dirty money to run a series of very racist ads.

Three congressional candidates who are decent, intelligent, hard-working human beings:

Jeff Ettinger, MN lost to a far right wing creep

Brad Pfaff WI lost to VanOrden, an insurrectionist in Congress who participated in Jan 6 domestic terrorism

Matt Castelli, NY lost to do-nothing but lie election denier Elise Stefanik

Then there’s losses by Beto, Stacey Abrams. Florida is a disaster also.

Will there ever be an end to money in politics, the horrible racism and anti-semitism? I’m not hopeful.

There are other candidates I had no time to follow.

No worries! Take time to enjoy Toxic Rump's bad, bad day. Holding off on the champagne anyway until Bobert officially goes down.

Has anyone just taken a peek into truth social? I just did. The amount of stupidity is overwhelming. I felt the dumbassness creeping into my brain. What the hell is really wrong with these people. They are commenting on obviously fake pictures as if they are real. Check it out for as long as you can stand it. I lasted only three to four minutes.

I follow you on Twitter and you make my effing day in these uncertain times. Usually with a belly laugh. I used to work in advertising and was wondering if you used to be a copywriter? I was fortunate to work alongside so many talented art directors and copywriters and something about your wit & writing reminds me of my ad days. Keep up the wonderful commentary. Truly. It gets me through this, this, shit show we find ourselves in.

in my former life I spent about 35 years as the owner of a graphic design studio. as such I dabbled a bit in advertising, branding and marketing. I had the opportunity to work alongside some very talented writers (including my wife) and I guess I was lucky to have a small sliver of their creativity rub off on me. I admit I'm good at tweet-sized quips; I'm still learning the ins and outs of long-form writing

Over the years, I was lucky enough to get a lot of stuff published, including co-writing a cover story for the Village Voice. One thing that makes people better writers is reading books.

I just finished reading the book about the racism, antisemitism and Christian narcissism in the Republican Party, entitled American Psychosis.

I already knew a lot in there, because I’ve been following that information since the 1980’s, but a few things I had forgotten.

The Republican Party is a hate group.

More like a Plutocratic financed political party whose main goals are eliminating their taxes and democratic based regulatory impact on their monopolistic business practices. Yes, they are willing to use any means necessary to gather support from their followers who they regularly condemn to serfdom, in the name of freedom.

Where do you see the fallout for the election at FOX? I expect them to pivot back to the culture war classics: anti-reefer, anti-PBS, anti-hiphop... plus a lot of “feel good stories” about the wonder of Florida.

definitely culture war stuff, wacky made-up stuff straight out left field a la litterboxes in grade schools. we're going to see the deification of Ron DeSantis, who I think Murdoch sees as the next fascist savoir. Hannity may be the last holdout among the Trump defenders

You’re my first go to on Twitter and the only reason I am still here in this clusterfuck. Glad you’ve protected your genius on another platform! I’ll spread the word to my friends on FB. We love you!!

1) Given the recent proliferation of Russian propaganda and antisemitism on Twitter, how does your conscience let you support a social networking site owned by someone as disgusting as Elon Musk?

2) Were you aware that Mark Finchem posed an antisemitic tweet and he was suspended from Twitter, but Elon immediately reinstated him?

3) Where were your grandparents living in 1938?

Jeff,

Big fan here! When I signed up for a paid subscription about a week ago on Substack (which I am not that familiar with), it asked me if I wanted to link Twitter to it and I wasn't sure what that meant...just dididn't want to lose you if it crash and burns. So I chose no...I am still reading you on Twitter, but the stuff you have Substacked I get too...am I good?

My questions were in all seriousness. I can’t see the point of supporting an Elon Musk enterprise, givien his support of a country committing genocide against Ukraine, notwithstanding.the fact I’m part Ukrainian.

The Lithuanian part of me is just as pissed off.

Republicans and antisemitic candidates was bad enough.

Thanks.
