I understand, Linda. I find myself overloaded - at times, so I snuggle with my fat cat Percy OR take Luka (in my photo) and Koda out for a gambol and conversation - no one's around to hear and IF they were? fuck 'em, lol. Luka races around like a veritable deer, leaping and bounding all over our very large property. We snuggle a lot too. I wait to read Jeff's posts until now - around 2:30 - 3:00p.m. Eastern Time. Then feed the critters (our schedule is different mostly because of the neighbour who began the feral cat family's feeding late afternoon since I'm slowly trying to lessen her insistence on giving them only dry food (she complains about being broke and WE spend a fortune on pet food so she could simply stop). She's never befriended the remaining three siblings who 'talk' to me and one little girl allows me to pet her head...more recently all the way up her tail - SO exciting! (this is the same Magat woman who was a friend for years before she fell for that fuckery). She carries so much RAGE no wonder the cats tend to shy away, but I've long been known as 'the' cat person around here - they seem to gravitate towards me for some reason. For a while we've had little heated cat homes for them on our front patio for the Winter (actually more than necessary since their Mom still slinks around making use of one or two, and I do spot another kitty or two sneaking in to eat what they don't - as well as the raccoon family at night). They're probably 8 - 9 years old so it IS a big deal and keeps me very occupied so I don't have to focus on the shitfuckery, else I suspect I'd burst a blood vessel.

AB-so-LUTE=letly! And all the makers of its multitude of generics - some of which work far better than others, although explaining this to my pharmacist (a skeptic) is futile since he considers ALL generics alike. Grrr.. My major prescriptions (and hubby's) contain acetaminophen/tylenol which seem to change month to month depending on which one they deem most 'cost effective'. Since I've suffered from diagnosed classical migraines for decades, my last fantastic Neurologist worked with me for several years to come up 'the' perfect meld of meds: a combo of Fioricet to which I add one tiny pill of Topiramate (Topamax). Fioricet is the tylenol version of Fiorinal (with aspirin), now verboten to those of us not allowed to take any aspirin or NSAIDS (anti-inflammatories). Aspirin falls under that category as well: entirely UNacceptable to those prone to ulcers or any stomach issues. I'm just waiting for the 'royal decree' to declare that 'good old aspirin' will do for everyone' - as it was when he was a kid. Of course it was - would it ever occur to any of the dimwits that, just perhaps - it was ASPIRIN which 'could', just possibly be a factor in autism if ANY med does (which I disbelieve)? Fioricet has butalbital/caffeine (a small amt) and acetaminophen. Topamax was developed for epileptic seizures. I've never had those BUT as an 'off' result, it was found (by scientists, of course) to help control migraines. It took years of fine-tuning to achieve exactly the right dosage (we're all so different and unique==Migraine. dot com is a good source of info) and I've had to fight everyone since my Neuro moved up to head a Major Hospital where I live, no longer able to treat individual patients. He never anticipated this type of fuckery. HE gave me years of relief but I've just gone through 2 days of sheer agony with this major rainstorm hitting NY. I always know when one of 'those' is coming - purely from how my head feels squeezed as if in a vice. IF I lose any of these meds without a viable alternative, I've no idea what I'd do. Hollie, I read his response as both kidding and perhaps with a wee touch of sarcasm - NOT pointed at YOU, but at all of us who walk in your shoes. It's a joke, not meant at all to be hurtful. It's why so often putting words to paper (or on a screen) can so often be misunderstood/taken wrong/out of context. Fwiw, MY vision is bad on its own (TED issues) but now with a horrible migraine which focuses on my eyes, I simply have to ignore ANY emoji. Can't see them well enough to decipher their intent. My techie who's NOW, finally - about to get me a new computer (hopefully this week) when I mentioned I NEED to be able to enlarge letters/ print, other things (the mostly solitaire games I sometimes play for relaxation)- said: 'larger screen'. Sigh. IF I had room FOR a larger screen within my computer armoire = a necessity to lock out the dog who steals everything, I'd have gotten one years ago. I don't and thought he already knew this. I assumed with all the new graphics that Windows 11 would be able to BE enlarged. Perhaps not. As it is, I'm still in 'ignore most emojis' mode. :)

I think adopting the "No Kings" slogan was a big mistake. It conjures up goofy images of the Burger King mascot etc. -- Americans don't have much emotional resonance re kings.

What it should be called is "No Dictators" with photos of dead Hitler in his bunker and Mussolini hanging from a gas station roof as the standard imagery.

We have to stop being cutesy and frivolous. We are fast descending beyond the point of no return.

There should be an elected Democratic representative at every protest, if not fed, then state. Can the party just for fucking once mobilize itself in a coherent and strategic manner????

I don't care one way or the other. But, a word from the former other side: run with what you got. The Left's impulse to get all up in it's own head is a huge boat anchor that keeps it mired in status quo. Your 'words matter' fetishes leads you down rabbit holes and paralyses action. The Right doesn't have that problem, it's all id and impulse. And yeah, that's the problem too. I do not want to live under the Right.

"No Kings" alliterates. It's two syllables. There's no advanced concept or definition to process. The first I heard it, I thought King George, not the Burger King, but maybe that's just me. Point is, it doesn't matter. The Right doesn't moan about 'big mistakes', it adapts, and wins.

Expand full comment
MargaretT's avatar

Agree. I'm retired now, but when working (in business computing) we had a phrase "analysis paralysis" to remind us that if we had enough information to act on an idea, then act. Refining touchs, if needed, could be woven in during the process. "No Kings" is mainly an event title, and most people have used their own signs with whatever wording they liked, and that fit reasonable guidelines.

No, it doesn't "alliterate": "No Ninnies" alliterates (the term specifically refers to repetition of consonant sounds). "King Kong" doubly alliterates.

He even tried to 'date' Princess Diana (who wanted nothing to do with him or his persistent phone calls) after her divorce from Charles BECAUSE he imagined it would, somehow, make HIM 'royalty'! There are solid reasons behind the NO KINGS protests because everyone who knows anything about this orange fuckwit KNOWS this much about him! Thank you, George. I once was far too timid to use so-called 'curse' words. Then my older brother introduced me to the inimitable Billy Connolly, THE singularly most erudite AND funniest Scottish comedian EVER. He has a real way with words. ;) I also had a good friend who used 'fuck' as noun, verb, adverb, adjective, preposition and in any possible way she could imagine. She kept me laughing till I cried. STILL does. She couldn't believe that I'd grown up in New York yet never used 'it' so basically set out to educate me as to its proper usage. Succeeded, although it did take a while since my husband was not at all amused or happy. I decided I didn't give a fuck since HE'd been in the Army IN Combat and I knew damn well he and his buddies used far worse language out of our earshot. Got tired of the double-standard which brings us to today. I doubt I'd be 'quite' this verbose if it hadn't been for the orange pig. Might have kept some of the 'fucks' quieter/under wraps. But here we are and this is my contribution for those women who still feel they have to be more 'ladylike' but secretly cheer me on. :) As for Princess Diana - I've known THAT information since her divorce when 'the Palace' tried so hard to paint her as severely mentally ill. I added it to the list of repugnant things frump was and still is. There are still SO MANY people, even amurricans who cried over her awful death - wonder how THEY'LL react to hearing about this~Full denial?

George in Atlanta's avatar

Billy Connolly! OMG, he's the patron saint of middle-aged men *everywhere*! His recounting of his first prostate exam is NOT to be missed. Your friend's flexible use of the word fuck is absolutely proper. It's the Swiss Army Knife of Anglo-Saxon, appropriate for all occasions.

Nice! I didn't realize anyone outside of Scotland knew about Billy. The 'prostate exam' bit he does IS funny as hell! I also spent ages prior to the Internet searching for an old show 'Pale Blue Scottish Person' my brother had shown me on VCR: He and his class 'going to the Beach' with those red woolen bathing suits as they 'streeeeeetched' when wet had me helpless with laughter. Very few others make me laugh quite as hard. :) Robin WIlliams had a Scots accent down SO well he did a bit about 'how the Scots invented Golf' which is SO good (and downright hilarious) it'll have ANYONE on the floor. I'll have to find and post those clips. They'll assuredly add 'some' more humour to our day. In fact Jeff's humour reminds me of Billy's.

'I'm SO Rich'(!!!) The same woman as well as other friends of Diana also divulged that she was REPULSED by him and despite his calls and flowers she had ZERO intention of ever accepting a single 'date' with him. NOW listen to Ben Meiselas and then Michael Wolff talking about Epstein and frump's 'bet' as to who would 'bed' Diana first - and the rest of their disgusting fuckery with Prince Andrew, HIS disgusting fuckery with young girls, the 'rest of the story' and WHY frump is so hot to be part of FUCKING ROYALTY which is why we NEED 'NO KINGS' protests as well as THE EPSTEIN FILES! https://substack.com/home/post/p-170612899

Drastic action needed

Expand full comment
George in Atlanta's avatar

Yes.

Drastic action *is* being taken. By the government. Tearing apart apartment buildings, beating up old people, shoving around journalists, gutting health benefits, murdering foreign nationals on the high seas.

We got your drastic action right here! But not enough. Stephen Miller is now openly wishcasting for organized, armed insurrections that set cities ablaze and murder Federal agents. He wants it so bad he can taste it.

What's amazing to me is that, in spite of all the wailing by the Left and the Media about 'intimidation' and 'fear', there is remarkably little of that as a response to this shit. Governors are telling Trump to fuck himself. Tens of thousands of citizens come out and tell Trump to fuck himself. Comedians tell Trump to fuck himself.

Meanwhile children are dying in Texas of preventable and treatable diseases. Memaw will soon die since her dialysis will not be available anymore. More than three in four people enrolled in ACA plans live in states Trump won in 2024.

Winter is coming. Wait for it.

Expand full comment
George in Atlanta's avatar

Yeah, proof positive.

There are some cult experts that have set up shop lately (the Knitting Lady is good). A common message I get is that the MAGA faithful would rather die than admit they made a mistake. This is literal. Memaw and the baby will just have to be taken home to the Lord to support the righteous Orange regime.

Here's a fun angle on it: there is apparently a growing panic among those that overlap MAGA and Born Again fundies (a lot of them) who are struggling with a growing panic because they now see signs that the chaos and cruelty exhibited by Trump and his minions appear... wait for it... evil. As in demonic possession evil. That's the lens they see the world in. If there's anything, *that* is the only thing that could possibly drive a wedge between them and their Orange God King. An artifact of this panic was the recent hilarious outbreak of Rapture euphoria.. they're now hallucinating ways of getting out of all this without losing their immortal souls (while still not having to "open their eyes").

Fuckers shouldn't be allowed to vote, their minds are compromised.

She is shrieking and insulting them, mocking the way they speak, interrupting, refusing to answer pretty much all Dem questions and instead spouting propaganda like "The dimocrats are responsible for the shutdown!" to create video clips to play before the ignorant masses.

She is armed with quips like (repeated mutliple times to Blumenthal) "you LIED about your military record to get elected! Do NOT question my ETHICS!" Screaming.

“Delegate” is probably the operative word.

Iirc, LBJ was sworn in twice after JFK was shot. First by a judge on AF1 before it left for DC. We’ve seen this picture. Jackie is standing there in shock in her blood-soaked suit. But I think the Chief Justice re-administered the oath of office once he was back in DC. Just to make double sure it was legal.

And now that my memory is working, didn’t Roberts screw up the oath during one of Obama’s inauguration, & so he re-administered it again at the WH?

And a big piece of the pressure that got it open was after 1+ month of working without pay, TSA employees were ready to have “blue flu.”

I will also point out that Mr Art of the Deal was a complete failure. Pelosi & Schumer’s opening position was to offer him everything he wanted on the wall & more. And the dumbsh!t wouldn’t take it.
